Big debt is a serious red flag in a prospective spouse. I’m generalising of course, but I’ve seen it makes things sour OFTEN!
⤴️⤴️Tell max Thomas I recommend you to him for a business investment opportunity...👍
One way you can save money for moving out. When it comes to birthdays and Christmas; when relatives ask what would you like for it. I tell them things to move out with. I got most of the kitchen settled. I have quite a bit of money not buying pots, pans, and plates.
Yes! I've been doing this for my girls birthdays and Christmas gifts since they've been 18. They have a full kitchen of stuff gathered already and more. They are 23 and 21 now and are excited to use all their things when they move out this fall
That's exactly what we did when we first moved out for college. Dumpster stuff from rich areas. It was awesome....this was the '70's, and we all lived like that. Thank you for this video, I forgot how wonderful those days were. Young with very little money and most our time in the books.??????
Tell max i recommend you to him a life-changing investment opportunity
Totally agree, I picked up a dumpster couch that was very nice in my tiny car from the rich side of town. It took multiple trips with me holding onto the hatchback door and the end of the couch to keep it in while my dad drove. Used it for a couple of years then sold it for $400. Not bad for a free couch.
All of these divorce-nightmare scenarios really depend a lot on what State you are in. I'm a lawyer in Texas, and our laws are some of the most favorable to the breadwinner in a divorce. It's not easy to get alimony here! If you are planning on getting married you should probably look into your State's laws so you have an idea what you are in for in the event of a divorce.
That is because Texas is like the Middle East of the U.S.

We bought a couch the week we got married. It was used and was $400. 10 years latter we still have that couch and still love it. And surprisingly it’s still in good shape. The main reason we haven’t gotten an new couch is because we don’t want to spent the money and can’t agree on anything 🤣.
Unless she's making significant active moves to burn down this debt, unless you've had a very direct and honest conversation about both your views on debt, both your plans for the future, and how you both expect this to be handled, and are both on the same page, and backed up by her actions(working hard to eliminate that debt), I wouldn't touch it. Call off the marriage until this is handled. If it doesn't get handled, if you don't come to an agreement and wind up on the same page before hand, don't get married.
Secretly, the caller hoped Dave would talk him out of getting married
It's the main reason he called but then Dave told him to buy used furniture lol

With $80k in debt, I'd be willing to bet she has some sort of a job that will at least cover the cost of the student loan payments. They can throw her entire income on that debt and live off of his check for now.

For those going into marriage scared about divorce seriously think about things that lead to it and if you or the partner would ever do it guys can divorce to, marriage is meant to be sacred connecting a man and a woman as one not just to have a enhanced date
You haven't even moved out from your parents and your getting straight into marriage!!? Dear Lord help this boy.
Tell max i recommend you to him a life-changing investment opportunity
Shoot I still sit on a $100 couch and eat at the $100 table. I can afford much more expensive stuff, but I'm not convinced a $1k couch or $1k table would get me any better couch or table. My first washer and dryer were $50 for the pair, because they were in an upstairs apartment, and someone didn't want to deal with moving them down stairs and hauling them off. I've since upgraded the washer and dryer, but that $50 washer and dryer set lasted 3+ years. A decent house can be set up cheap.
Find someone who is downsizing - I got a house full of furniture when my grandma moved from a house to an apartment. Had other relatives sell a house and had to get rid of the furniture and my son furnished his house for about $500. That was a bedroom set, table and chairs, lamps and all the art work they didn't want. Just ask around.
The fact that this guy is worried and thinks he will need more money when he's married then he does now being single should tell you all you need to know about marriage.
He also lives with his parents and is planning to move out on his own there are expenses to that such as deposits on utilities and apartments

Marriage has become SOOO much more complicated, as has meeting someone to marry. It seems that money just keeps getting more complicated right in step with it. EVERY woman has been taught that she is an absolute princess that DESERVES the absolute best in a man regardless of what she's willing to contribute - and as a result, birth rates are plummeting!
And the quality of men over the years has declined considerably.
Or as the saying goes…..Marriage is grand Divorce is 50 Grand
@@eclipse.5295True!

This is my comedic attempt to tell you that you should postpone the wedding until she pays off her debt and you pay off yours. If this takes so long that she wants to dump you and find another sucker boyfriend, then let her go on her merry way, and you go find a different chic that doesn't have this kind of debt. Please allow the blood to return from your lower head and back into your upper head so you can see rationally on this decision.
