    Was looking for videos for older folks. Thanks for posting this. I am 60 and am using TRX daily now at the gym.

    THANK YOU, Richard!!!! Excellent intro to TRX for seniors! I’m 73 years old and have been doing TRX for over 10years. I have osteoporosis in my lower lumbar and find that this program improves my strength, balance and endurance. It is my absolute favorite strengthening program. Our weekly classes have all ages, but our most inspirational friend is a 93 year old woman! She totally rocks it! I highly recommend giving it a try and searching out a CERTIFIED instructor………correct form is IMPERATIVE! BTW, this program was created by a Navy Seal, so you know it is good!

    I LOVE my TRX! 54 years old now, found this a couple of years ago and started bc of back pain. I do a lot of yoga and TRX really compliments it so well. Thanks for sharing. 🙏

    Richard, I am a trainer and I train mostly clients over 60 and have been using the TRX for a long time. It is a great tool for older adults .I have been through several certifications using this equipment. You should try to do that. It will help you with your clients. It is great you are helping older adults like this. Keep it up. I am not sure how old you are but I will turn 80 this year and I am not quitting!

      No such thing as TRX certifications in a small town here in Mexico and I dont want to limit myself to TRX. I use different types of strength bands, free weights, body weight exercises, and bosu. I am in my mid 70's and my clients average age is near 70. Keep on trucking Tim.

    I turned 70 in October and I've been using suspension straps for about 15 years. I stick with squats, chest presses, body rows, flies, Y's and T's, Tricep extensions , Curls and face pulls. Two sets each with a 20 sec. pause between sets. The TRX is great in that it works the core with everything and strengthens your stability.

      Good for you. I use it for all my clients now doing most of what you mention along with different types of bands, free weights and body weight exercises. Many of my clients are mid 70's to 85 so safety is always first. I have emailed TRX Co to do some videos with seniors in mind and no response. Sad since I have 3 that have bought them this year! They are missing a demographic that can afford them and likes a challenge.

      I continue to use TRX in my practice along with bands and body weight exercises. It is just one of the tools you can use to stay in shape.

    I'm 57 and LOVE my TRX! Put it over the kitchen door and it reminds me I can do a few reps while water is boiling and other odd times. No need for workout clothes either.

      Make sure the door doesnt open towards you. That could be a disaster while cooking your pasta. Glad you can find those times to do a little bit of something. Here is a good video by Kari Woodall you can pick up a few exercises from. Many are quite difficult so be careful. ruclips.net/video/6eMZhxaxYwU/видео.html

    Excellent. It's about increasing access to bodyweight exercises when strength is a limiting factor. Using arms and legs synergistically and swinging with gravity ... feels good, an reminds us of our youth. Referring to Citizen Kane, I'm looking for this "rosebud" factor where exercise is play.

      Dean. Thanks for the reply. I dont get too many hits on my videos but the TRX seems to attract attention. I always saw it as an advanced training piece of equipmt. Partly because you only see it promoted by the beautiful body types and the younger demographic. TRX is missing the boat and like so many companies believes sex sells. Seniors will be a in the majority soon and many have the money to buy their equipment. It pisses me off they don't respond to my request to do videos with over 60s. Damn I have every client use it safely and the average age is 73 I think!!! If you go to a gym that has it try it out but get a little instruction so you dont hurt yourself. I have bad shoulders and you are using them almost all the time with TRX. Plus the instability it causes because you are moving in many directions can be a bit scary so starting easy and slow is important. Good Luck.

      3 clients have bought them already. I am trying to incorporate other exercises as they get stronger. Safety is always first. One is a lunge with a chest fly and others are combo movements which require timing, rhythm and thought!!

    I’m 52 and not super strong. Considering buying this. Thank you for your video-it is so helpful. Do you think it’s better to get the Home model or the Pro model?

    • @yourkeytofitness
      @yourkeytofitness  2 года назад

      it depends on your usage. I have both and use them for training clients and the home model is adequate for personal use. If training people or a group using it buy the pro model. Be aware that there is tremendous pressure on your shoulders and core. If you have injuries in shoulders then you must be careful as i must with rotator injury. Also low back can be vulnerable if you dont keep core tight when executing exercises. If you have a base level of fitness then TRX is fine. If a total beginner I would learn some body weight exercises and/or buy some strength bands which can mimic most everything you can do on a expensive pulley system in a gym. Check out my videos on bands and body weight exercises which is how I start most clients. Good luck.

      Roxy sorry I didnt see your comment earlier. I am so busy with clients and designing programs for them especially with many having ailments and injuries. Don't worry about being super strong. I have people 30 years older than you and many hardly ever exercised. Buy the home model. It will be good enough. Just make sure it is attached securely about 7 ft high somewhere. I have bars over windows so you do have to find something to attach to or take them to a playground piece of equipment like a swing set or off of a step leading up to a slide for kids(watch my video Every Playground is a Gym). Try the easy things I showed with not too much angle on your body so you are not pulling up too much weight. Only exception is the squat because more angle and straight arms takes more weight off of bum knees if you have them. As you progress try to do simple body weight exercises like lunges, side leg lifts, curl ups which is a simple form of crunch without the extreme up and down motion, pushups off your kitchen counter etc. Start easy and progress as you feel stronger and more confident. I wish you good luck, improved strength and overall fitness.

    Before anyone buys a TRX suspension trainer please watch my other more recent video. It will offer tips about safety and whether you should purchase it before trying it out with a qualified trainer. If you have serious shoulder injuries think twice. ruclips.net/video/vSjqjdIdF0/видео.html

      I stumbled across you looking to figure out what the piece of equipment was I was using at the gym and found this so now I know! I had just randomly looked at them hanging there one day next to the rope I use all the time and I was like, "Hmmm, I could use my body weight and pull myself up and down" and found that I absolutely love it. I do a lot of core work with kettle bells and now I'll increase my work with the TRX as well. Subbed and thank you for the video, I hope you keep doing them. It's nice to see someone older as it isn't always easy to gauge what will work well when the demonstrator is under 35.

      @@GlasUndMetall Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I work mostly with seniors and have to use equipmt like TRX with safety in mind first. Like any piece of athletic equipment one can get injured without proper instruction. Most gyms have staff where they can give u a few good tips to get u started. Sometimes a few sessions with a trainer can be $ well spent without having to book them forever. Study RUclips videos and u will find excellent trainers. I save them or subscribe and watch them for refreshers. All the best.

    I’m connecting to top of door. I am having trouble determining the proper length of the strap. Can you give an advice as to how far the handle should come down. It looks like yours are around mid thigh but I am having trouble getting the right starting position. Thank you.

    • @yourkeytofitness
      @yourkeytofitness  2 года назад

      Robert. The straps are at different heights for different exercises. Since I work mostly with over 60's I don't have them really low for many core, glute and hamstring exercises u might see online. If u don't have a decent core base u can injure yourself. They say be able to hold a plank for 2 minutes. It is too tough for my older clients getting up and down and in those positions anyway. In my practice I have them a bit longer for chest press or pushups. Maybe waist high to a little lower for squats, lunges, rows, face pulls. Really just experiment when new with TRX. The amount of angle of your body is a bit more important to me then strap length. More angle the harder the exercise. Keep core tight all the time. Also I think approx height is 7 ft but in gyms they attach to bars on ceilings so clients can do really difficult things.
