I got their 3g version the day it came out in 2011. My local AT&T provider didn't have a clue what this thing was when I tried getting a cell service for it.

what are you doing for memory? I want a lot of gigs for emulation but I don't want to shell more than 30 dollars after spending almost 150. Any solutions?

Hands down best handheld plus it lets me play my own music while playing games. I love listening to rap and hip hop while playing any hack and slash games
Heck yea man. Thats awesome. Im more into Alternative rock like Interpol and love being able to games like Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix, Tekken 5 and 6, etc. Bruh a hacked Vita is in my opinion one of the best systems ever released.

I was a day one purchaser. You’re right that from a hardware standpoint, the Vita is better than the Switch. However, it just goes to show how much the extra bells and whistles aren’t needed. The Switch is a better gaming experience because it is supported by 1st and 3rd parties. The Vita felt less supported than the PSP.
bought my ps Vita June 2014, the first ever gaming console I bought after dreaming and staring at video game magazines to own a gaming handheld. Still works like new
The Vita is still relevant thanks to the Switch and Steam Deck. I love my Vita especially with all the nice mods, hacks, homebrew, and emulators I've installed in it. I can play all my PS1 and PSP games no problem, including NES/SNES games.
Hey how much memory would you need to get all the mods , hacks , homebrews and emulators
I filled a 124 g micro sd card with psp, ps1, nes, snes, gb, gbc, and gba games. I had a few N64 games but they didn’t run very well so I deleted them. It takes some effort to mod and put on custom firmware to work. Techjames has some great tutorials to follow and I’m not about to tell you we’re to get the “back up” iso/rom sight to go to.
Can it run Dreamcast or GameCube emulation? I just got a oled model today,waiting on my sd card adapter to come in.

My Vita is essentially an emulation machine these days. Super Mario RPG on the go is awesome…plus being able to play PSP. I’ve got it setup with 1TB of storage. Might be overkill.
Not overkill at all. My 128GB is already out of storage.

It's incredible how ahead of it's time it was, and how long the life of the PS Vita has been in terms of how it just continues to sell on the 2nd hand market, how there are still games, and all the hacking and home brewing. It's really amazing how much of a life of its own it's taken on since it stopped production. Makes me wonder if SONY would take another crack at a mobile gaming device? 🤔🤔🤔
I bought a hacked 2000 model back in April and haven't regretted. Love the PSP, PS1 games i can get from PKJg and i also love that i can still access the PSN store to get the games that i can't get on there. PSN and Trophies work too. I wish it was a OLED model but happy with my purchase

If you are into homebrew, then the Vita is the definitive PSP.
Hello, I've had this video open in my tabs since this video came out haha! I saw it back then but now I re-watched it because I want to comment on a few things. You mentioned the Vita having a proprietary memory card but you never mentioned that you NEED a proprietary memory card only on the PS Vita 1000 model (the one shown in your video) to even mod it to use an adapter for a micro SD card. However, on the 2000 model you don't need a proprietary memory card since it has 1GB of memory already in it.
Also, isn't it crazy that Nintendo enabled Bluetooth on the switch that we've had for years thinking it didn't have Bluetooth? haha! I like the color of your switch too.
It's great with ports of San Andreas bully and max payne
How's the san andreas port compared to the original?

Love the vita. I have a black 1000, black/pink 2000, a persona 2000, and a vita tv. I have around 300 physical games and another 300 digital games. Best handheld ever.

It's a damn shame they didn't supposed micro SD cards, and they dropped support for the vita to easy...
In the homebrew scene, there is currently a Star Wars KOTOR port in progress. Long live VITA!!

Yea my slims left joystick drifts kind of sucks. Plus it will be a project to replace the joystick were as the joycon you can just buy a replacement.

It is a great system, but at this point the switch beats the absolute dog sh1t out of the vita. I do think the vita is a sexier system as far as aesthetically, but it just can't compare with the switch anymore. I will always recommend a switch or switch lite over the vita because alot of those rare jrpgs are getting ported to it and as you said Sony themselves killed the vita years ago...but great video! Subbed

I've always liked the look of the vita but when it came out no one cared about it, it felt like. with the PSP there was soo much buzz, I don't remember seeing any adverts or billboards saying that ythe vita was even a thing, Sony clearly didn't have a clear direction why they made the PS Vita, they ended up making a something you just use with ur PS4.
There was literally one person probably out of the entire school who actually owned one of those things.

Thanks for the video! I totally agree with your break down and opinion of the Vita. I don't own a Switch, and quite honestly, when the Switch OLED was announced, I was like ..."Umm....ten years too late?" as I grabbed my Vita! Lol. What do you think of the new Switch or Valve's Steam Deck?
Sony really did kill the poor vita...she could have been AMAZING! I still dream of a vita pro lol. The steam deck looks insanely awesome for any handheld gamer nerds like myself. Can't wait for it to drop!
@@ms.bunniesarecute2287 I STILL use my Vita on a daily basis, thanks to homebrew and convenience. Sony goes backwards with their skews. PS VIta started OLED, then took that away.... but I do wish there was a pro too! Did you pre-order Steam Deck?
I reserved the Steam Deck and pre-ordered the Switch OLED for review purposes. I’m definitely more excited for the Steam Deck since I want to (finally) have Final Fantasies 1-15 on a single piece of portable hardware.

I refuse to pay scalper prices, but I am hoping to get lucky later on. I have a miku vita because it SOO CUTE 😍...but I have to admit I am more fond of my switch lol. It's just getting better attention from its creators and 3rd parties. But there is no denying the vita was wayyyyy ahead of its time!

I got my vita 2011 the classic 1000 version that has 3G. I still love my vita over the switch because of it size, but the switch games and so on has made my vita currently resting in my collection.
However, I still on it and play games like Dragon Quest Builder 1, Digimon & some brian training games. If only they did not stop and allow PS5 remote use for my vita, it would have been so much more better.
Sony has been great in making handheld and the PSP has proven to be the case, but the issue was the way they approach it as if they where apple. Making sure that only there memory card and charger has to be the sony kill it. Because they forgot, phones are adult market toys, but the handheld is children and young adult that is there target market and should have been affordable for anyone who just started working and paying off there student loans at the same time able to keep up with there life with games.
I truly hope that sony find away to release another handheld and it would be affordable accessories, the console is justifiable for it prices and people is willing to invest 1 go if they are able to have a powerful gaming console like the vita did and not its options accessories that are needed for game storage.
I started playing Freedom Wars and after I finish it, I want to finish Soul Sacrifice Delta. The Vita could have had new games even today because it was super powerful but Sony is Sony ....The Vita was and remains an work of art. Sony is stupid because they could have made money out of it if they supported it with AAA titles. Anyway, does the normal SD card slots work without it being hacked ? And can you add more than 64GB ?
As far as I know, to use a regular sd card you have to buy a "SD2Vita", wich adapts the sd card to the format of a regular vita game card, but it will only work if the firmware is modded. And the storeage limit is 128gb
Slim model is more comfortable and longer battery but og model does have oled screen

I picked up the VITA back skin protector from eBay many many years ago. ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Sony PS Vita Slim (2914) Screen Protector + Black Carbon. Just do an eBay search to find the ArmorSuit product.

@Cuca Beludo I dont get what point you are trying to make its lighter than a laptop. And its a portable computer,why would someone go with a laptop over the Steam Deck?
i got my vita within the launch window because i was a hardcore psp fan and i played lumines and katamari daily so seeing katamari, lumines, and my fave fighting game umvc3 launch, it was an easy choice
to this day my vita has rarely hard shutdown, i got it jailbroken with a 512gb sd and ive never been more happy. to be able to now play psp games like initial d and outrun, not to mention pkgj, its so underrated. literally every emulator handheld is a worst buy than the vita, and ive tried searching
I got lucky I bought my vita in perfect condition for 250 cad with a game and I was the oled model with a 32gb memory card so😅
I have had PS vita, PSP, PS2 and the xbox 360 after that I shifted to PC gaming in 2016.

I have a two Nintendo switch version 2. I bought second one to modd it. But I saw a complete bundle modded ps vita on grey market willing to trade for my switch. I am torn as I am hesitant the trade off was not fare. What are your thoughts?
it's better to sell your switch first then buy the vita. you can find a better deal and end up with nice sum of money left.
Pull out of box, what's is sit there for few years.. psp vita? Still work.. playstation network work. Updated and happy to play with.

Main reason I bought a Vita over the switch is because the switch is not built well, there built like there throw away devices. The thumb sticks give out easily, the joycons can stop connecting, if you dropped it I doubt it would survive, and the system can bend very easily. Not built to last in anyway and not for the long term gamer.

It’s a little tough nowadays. You might be able to try your luck on Amazon, but I’ve seen it for higher prices. I left a link to Amazon in the description but that’s for the Slim model.
