Oh yes I love love love glueing a "mish mash of stuff". And using up all that scrapbook paper we have. So much fun. Oh I love your little book. That is so sweet. Oh I do love this play. Fabulous little books Cat, and wonderful pages you have completed. Great eyes and elephant pages. Super little closure. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed watching, take care, Ali xx
Hi Cat! You are teaching us far more than you know. I have been using printed scrapbook paper on top of white cardstock in little journal booklets that I put together. Then I stamp a few images throughout my booklets. Now I am looking at your work and I realize that I can look at all of this differently. I can make pages starting with printed paper. You make everything look like so much fun.
Loving that size journal! It’s amazing how much you can add to a small page and fill it chock full of interesting textures and patterns. That tissue paper you created is stunning - it looks like fabric. The tip about using a q-tip to fill in spaces in pictures that haven’t been cut out is so smart! Thank you also for showing how to make a button closure on a journal. I have only made one journal about 10 years ago but I feel like I’d love to give it another go after watching your inspiring videos!
Thanks, Amy - love working in small journals! 😊 I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos and finding some inspiration from them. I do hope you’ll make more journals - they’re so rewarding (plus, small ones are easy peasy!)
What a great project. I have tons of designer paper and this would be a great idea for using the one we would never use for cards. Thank you so much for sharing. Love it
im glad i found you im a paper lady /from notes to clippings of the past /////this is a wonderfull way to keep them and also enjoy them*********THANK YOU
Those books are darling! I loved seeing your papers you had readied for these books and sharing each detail. I loved this video and all the ones I have seen to date. Have a great day!!! Looking forward to your next action packed inspirational video!
Hi Cat Catching up with you. I have been so busy with my new grandson so I have been lost for a bit. Lol These books are wonderful! Love the small also. fast and easy. Specially summer months when us grandmas Are being grandmas, gardens vacations and so on. This is something we all can do even with all the other activities going on. Your creativeness is flowing as always Cat. Thank you so much for always sharing and teaching us new things and ideas. Hope your having a wonderful summer and all is good with Hubby children and grandchildren. Happy crafting!😊🎨💐❤️
+Maribeth Klein Hi Maribeth - congratulations on your new grandson! It's really easy to get busy with grandchildren - they're just the best! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and I wish you the happiest Summer, too! 😊😊😊
The toothpick/button trick! Thank you! I needed that information for a book I'm making for a child. I appreciate how clear your instructions always are and one day I hope to be as tidy/clean a crafter as you. One day!
Thanks, Kelsey! I'm glad you found that little trick helpful! (You wouldn't thinnk I was so neat and tidy if you could see the rest of my art room....lol!) 😂
That's so awesome 👏 I really love ❤️ those little books 📚 & what a great 👍 idea 💡 with the closure and the colouring in of the small bits of white. I really love ❤️ watching you Cat 🐱 you're so clever.
Oh, and Cat, the most important thanks goes for showing so thoroughly how to do the closures!! I didn't know how to do them and knew I would have to try to find directions somehow! So THANKS a million times!!!
so pretty! i've been dry for months, doing zentangles instead of mixed media..i think you've reminded me of a crucial creative piece, in small enough size that isn't overwhelming like the rest of my life right now. Thanks.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼you are such a creative soul and I am so inspired by you. When I do some of your projects they never seem to come out as awesome as yours.love, love the small journals. Thank you
Loving these books you have made, great ideas and something fun and interesting I can get into without too much effort while I recuperate after another hospital stay. When you turned the page and I saw the eyes, I let out such a loud squeal my poor little dog jumped off my knee and started running around barking. Lol xx
Thanks for the tip about the toothpick. It's been years since I did any sewing, and I'd forgotten that. Those little journals are lovely, I'm going to have to make one. TFS.
This is similar to attaching buttons to a coat. You make a "shank" with your threads to count for the thickness of a coat or jeans, etc. I like the idea of using the toothpick spacer
Hello Cat from the UK! I love your channel and it was you who got me into mixed media with your MMMs. Please keep posting vids they are islands of calm in a world of turbulence. Thank you, Pam x
Awww, thanks, Pam! I'm so glad you are enjoying my channel and I appreciate you watching! I will definitely keep the videos coming - although they will be fewer during the Summer months. Take care! 🙂
Thank you for such a well explained and thorough video. I really like the little books and they look so sturdy too. What an totally fun way to use up some scraps.
Oh Cat!! Love to see what you have done, Everything is so Fabulous!!! You have done so much and it is all so interesting!!! You are so very sweet!! Thanks so much for the shout out!!
You can keep the hair elastics or rubber bands from moving by taking a regular size hole punch and make just a half punch to make a tiny notch for the bands to rest in - they can’t move then.
Thank you for sharing this lovely video, your little collage books are adorable and a great way to use up bits 'n' bobs. I have made a couple of similar books in the past and keep thinking that I should make time to make some more. Your video has sparked off my imagination to pull out some of my odds and ends to make some again : ) it's always fun to revisit projects again. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Warmest best wishes from France, Susanne.
Thanks so much, Susanne! Yes, it's always fun to bring out fun projects and make them again! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! :)
Oh, what a treat - a new video from Cat Hand! I was itching to watch it straight away but then decided to wait for a couple of days and savour the anticipation. ;o) You're so clever to make your uploads rare, it is such a lot of fun to watch out for them! Thanks for preparing and serving this wonderful artistic dish, very inspiring!
I love your background "cheat" idea. Not 'white out', but more like 'white in'. I usually frustrate myself with trimming all those little spaces from my art. I will keep your idea in mind. Thanks!
That was a lovely video Cat. Your little journals are adorable and I love the way you did the attachment. Thanks for sharing the make of those wide eyelets too. I saw someone use those the other day and couldn't find them. 😊
I am so going to do this. It is so clever & cute. I want to start right away. I adore projects like this so thank you so much for so much inspiration.❤️❤️❤️
Gosh, I totally forgot to add the main comment - LOL. I so love this little collage book. It`s totally crazy, as is all your work!!! Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos:)))))
loved your video Cat. i have been following Karla for some time now and have made several Gluebooks. when i started making them i always thought to myself that this was like your Book of Unwasted Paint but with scraps of papers : )
This was a fantastic tutorial Cat, I loved it. I am excited to get going on one of the smaller ones so it's not so daunting then once I conquer that I will make a bigger one. Love all that you do. Michelle
Thank you for sharing your lovely collage books, Cat! I especially love your tutorial of how to make the elastic button closure! TFS! I am sharing this video on my FB group page, Roberta's Artistic Adventures & Favorite Links.
OMG Cat!!! Those eyes!!!! What can I say.....ummmm, pretty startling when you first turned to them, LOL!!!! I gasped for sure!!! But, truly a darling little book, and I love it. Well, I can't say I love the eyes one....it's very creative and clever, but I can't quite bring myself around to looking at them too long!!! It's me, I've always been squeamish about things like that, (my whole family will vouch for that), and in my older age, I am getting worse!!! But, please don't get offended about it, I admire your talent greatly and love all your work, it's me that's an odd ball!!! LOVE the elephants....so gorgeous!!! I really am an elephant lover and this page is fabulous as are the rest of the pages you've shown!!
Love the elastic/button closures on these books, very cute. I would like to suggest though, if someone has arthritis and would have trouble sewing on the front button; use glue to double up 2 buttons instead. Using strong glue place a small button down then glue a larger button on top. The bottom button needs to have a little bit of height to it so that the elastic has room to go under the top button, but that's not much of a problem to find. You can even put thread through the holes in the top button and knot it to give it a finished look and nobody know it wasn't truly sewn on. I've done it this way and so far haven't had a problem with the buttons coming off. TFS.
What a cute book, love the elephant in the room quote and pictures! What kind of brush are you using to glue the decoupage glue? It looks easy to hold and use. Thanks for sharing your great ideas and how to do closures.
Hey Cat, I adore these little books. They are so beautiful. I love your backgrounds and the simplicity of the focal image. My collage tends to be a little chaotic so I am going to try and pare back my pages a little, Ali xxx ps I watch on my laptop and have had no problems with the audio
I'm amazed at your incredible creativity Cat. Can you please tell us what kind of paint you used to paint on the white napkin and is there a video on it? As always thanks for sharing your gift of creativity!
Thank you, Phyllis. I’m just using inexpensive craft paints, for the most part. Here is the video where I created that napkin. ruclips.net/video/DSbnq1_SLt8/видео.html
Phyllis Moon I printed very thin layers of paint from the back of the stencils onto the napkin. Each layer dried very quickly and was never very wet at all. Worked out pretty well! 😊
Love the little cat book…very innovative….go girl!
Thanks, Patricia! 😊

You can keep the hair elastics or rubber bands from moving by taking a regular size hole punch and make just a half punch to make a tiny notch for the bands to rest in - they can’t move then.
Thanks, Fran - great tip! 😊
Once again, you have outdone yourself! I just love this.

Love the elastic/button closures on these books, very cute. I would like to suggest though, if someone has arthritis and would have trouble sewing on the front button; use glue to double up 2 buttons instead. Using strong glue place a small button down then glue a larger button on top. What a cute book, love the elephant in the room quote and pictures! What kind of brush are you using to glue the decoupage glue? It looks easy to hold and use. Thanks for sharing your great ideas and how to do closures.
Thanks, Debbie. That brush is from a set of Crayola kids' brushes that I got online at Amazon. Thanks so much for watching! 🙂

Thanks for the video & info. I'm surprised that a thin napkin can hold up to craft paints, since they shed so easily. Will take a look at the video 💖
Phyllis Moon I printed very thin layers of paint from the back of the stencils onto the napkin. Each layer dried very quickly and was never very wet at all. Worked out pretty well! 😊
Love your work. Where ever do you get the brightly colored elastic. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Lynda. I used hair elastics for the binding on these journals. 😉
brilliant idea!!!!
Where did you get that cute stamp with the kitty wearing glasses? Also I agree with Laura - need more volume! Thanks again for your videos!
I got the stamp from Amazon - it's called Nerdy Cat. You may need to do an internet search for audio issues for your device. Thanks for watching! 🙂
