  • Martin Johnson embarks on his most challenging run, as he explores the connection between Black British history and the River Thames.
Martin attempts to set a new fastest known time on the 184-mile Thames Path-running from the Thames Barrier in London to the source of the river in the Cotswolds. What starts as a grueling and ambitious record-breaking attempt turns into a journey of discovery. He learns both about himself and the entangled history between Black people and the river. Martin hopes his run will encourage more diversity in the sport of trail running and inspire others to get out beyond the city and run.
Tune in on February 23rd at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm GMT / 7pm CET to watch the online premiere. Martin will be joined by the cast and crew to answer your questions.

you're an absolute hero MJ - i can't believe how wet it was, your feet looked destroyed and still you pushed through. Just inspiring man, being from the UK it was also sobering to hear more about the windrush generations. I am 38 and have little or no concept of what your ancestors went through but i am motivated to learn more. Keep it up, big love forpe.

I've watched many of trail running documentaries, and this one brought tears to my eyes. The history of Black people intertwined with your story was a lot. I know the pain all to well being an ultra runner, and being the only one in the space the majority of the time can be overwhelming but I still line up to run. THIS WAS FANTASTIC!! CONGRATULATIONS!!I hope that you NEVER STOP!! CLAIM that place at the start line and in nature!!! Much love to you!!

Congrats on the FKT, amazing running! Really enjoyed the film too. I live in an area with very few people of colour and its only been in the last year that I've become aware of and begun to appreciate the issues you face in todays society (thanks to the Black Trail Runners videos and other wider media coverage) . Thank you for raising awareness and I hope the UK can continue to grow to be inclusive of all minority groups.

I started watching this video because a)I love running (10km is my best though!)
    b)I live on the Thames
c)I want to do the barrier to source walk/run
But I got so much more from this! The connection to nature through running, encouraging all people to give it a go, BLM awareness raising, story of growing up, history of it all and my favourite bit - the kids! As a mum of a child with DS Ned was a highlight! Well done! Will be sharing widely.

Well done to Martin ,Martins family, support team and Patagonia, really inspirational and informative. Yes I think it could be a very important to get back to our roots, and become less urban, moving out to the countryside and running, cycling, walking it is such a great way to spend time away from an artificial construct that are cities, who needs the negative self distructive habits which seem as the only way to cope when there is all that open space and fresh air available. Just because people where corralled into the city for manual labour jobs in the past doesnt necessarily need to be our future, this is most relevat to immigrants, working class people. Blowing off steam and troubling noone
