    Sunak looks a lot less stressed, lack of responsibility seems to suit him.

    Very interesting. The leader of the government, the prime minister, and the leader of the opposition are both able to walk side-by-side in a very casual and friendly manner. I like the fact that there seems to be no animosity or hatred from one side of the isle towards the other, at least not from the UK's major parties.
    This is the way. That is how it is supposed to be in a civilized society, in my opinion. Leaders and politicians should talk substance, not engage in emotional manipulation, misinformation games or hatred.

    Had the great pleasure of visiting London a few months ago from the USA and got to tour the Houses of Parliment. It was really fascinating and our fabulous tour guide told us about Black Rod. I just love watching this ceremony now!

      @@buolindo8795 Scraped is right. The Tories sent one paid volunteer. Starmer rightly scrapped it because he's a lawyer and knows it's wasted money trying to do such a thing. Early days yet give Starmers new conservatives time before we see their true colours.

      You'll never get everything you want, but you do get to play your part and affect change as Starmer's speech demonstrated yesterday (Sunak would never have declared those policies)

      Idk much, but from my knowledge the King doesn't have power. But THEORETICALLY he still have power to veto bills but he nor his mother have done it.

      The UK is a constitutional monarchy. One of the king's jobs is to open parliament and as part of this he reads a speech written for him by the government setting out their legislative agenda for the parliamentary session.

    Labour adopting the Tory mantra "Working People". Haven't heard a word about improving benefits for those living in poverty due to chronic illness or disablement. I sene that thesr groups are an embarrassment to Labour. Thank goodness the real bold Atlee Labour Government wasn't so timid in creating a Welfare State and National Health Service and all in the midst of a devastated infrastructure and economy. At that time one key ingredient was present: The Political Will.

      Yes he stated it but not in this speech he is keeping Sunak rules in power he is putting people on benefits in work if you do not find work in 1 year all benefits stop .Disabled will be assessed and be put in work unless they are severely Disabled and pass assessment pensioners get 2.5 % rise or inflation rise which is the higher .child benefit capped a 2 children Sunak and Starmer no difference 😂😂😂😂

      It's a process and all the candidates are nutters which makes it a difficult decision, but as it will determine the direction of the Tory Party, which no one in it can agree on, it's a big risk to rush it.

    People are saying this is respectable. I disagree. There are differences that are reconcilable and differences that aren't. I could not think Rishi Sunak was a vile man who has contempt for the poor, and then smile and be all friendly with him.

    When a man expects to be constantly addressed by his title, you can be sure his main agenda is his own sense of self importance, his title is (Sir) his name is (Keir) if you spoke of a postman whose name was Pat, you wouldn't call him Postman Pat in reality would you? and I don't think Pat ever insisted on being called by his title.
    But when I'm faced by a man who has no shame in being constantly address by his title, I personally wouldn't trust such a man, I believe he would consider his title more important than my interests!

      What makes you think Starmer goes around insisting people call him sir? This hasn't been my impression. At his first press conference after taking office he was asked how he felt now civil servants were addressing him as Prime Minister and he said he was happy to just be called Keir.
