    May I add a few tips? To calculate the minimum price for your hour, it's important to know how much is your cost of living (not how much you spend every month, but how much is the minimum you need to survive). So let's say you need $1000 to pay all your bills and food for the month, and you're gonna want to divide that by the amount of hours you want to work within a month. Let's say you want to work 6 hours, 5 days a week, so that's 30 hours per month. Divide $1000 by 30 and you know your minimum charge for your hour is $33.34. Hope that helps. And thank you so much for your videos, you're really amazing. I'm just thinking about starting with Macrame and I can't stop watching your videos. 🥰

      Right, that could definitely help if you are not sure how to go about setting you hourly pay. Thanks for sharing the tip! 🙂 Let me know how it goes if you give macrame a try 😉

    Great advice. I almost decide the price before I make it so I know how much time I should be spending on it. And then create to a range of prices to extend my market.

    You did a great job of explaining a good part of the components to be considered when determining a price per product in macrame! I did write these things down as even though I thought I had considered a good amount of what you brought up, I found out there were things I didn’t take into account! Ironically, I did cost estimating as “part” of my career. I find it easier to raise a price for say.. that company, than I find pricing the value of my work and time. one thing someone told me is I can always have sales to reduce my costs, but it’s harder to increase costs once people know have a feeling for what you charge. Thank you for all the advice as it was all valuable. Let me admit that to date I have sold not one item yet my products are highly sought after as no one else does macrame in my area. My problem is ME giving my work away! That’s not working out well for me 😂😂…but it’s very real!

      I have given plenty of pieces away as well 😌 and I absolutely agree with the sales, those are easier than trying to raise prices later…

    This is a great video, it’s so important to discuss as so many makers undervalue their work, especially if it’s something they find therapeutic and get joy from our making process. Also we all have to eat and pay bills, some of us have studios we rent and cost of living and rental prices differ also.
    As someone who has studied business strategy, I often price my work higher than my calculations, but have regular sales. Which means that your customers who can afford to pay a decent price for your work (especially if they are a business themselves) the ones who can’t afford much will appreciate when they get a discount, when you put items for sale, but also see that you value your own work and time. This also helps set a higher market value for your work and helps others to set prices more in line with the rising cost of living.

      Such a great comment and I absolutely agree, we can't live only on the joy we get from our art...unfortunately 😅 Well I am glad you found value in my video and thank you for sharing your process. It's encouraging to hear from someone who has more of a formal education in this.

      I used to struggle with this, value your time, it the one thing you can never make more of. Valuing your time is valuing yourself, even if you got joy from your work, it’s still work

    Great explanation Anna, I´d add as personal cost also the time that I spend on a research and sketches of the final design. What do you think?
    May I ask you where do you buy Bobbiny cords? Directly from them (do they provide better/lower price for the amount) or just from some local distributors?

    • @annabaginova01
      @annabaginova01  2 года назад

      Oh absolutely, that should also go into the time spent calculations 😉 I am buying my cords from a local distributor since she is in the same country and so things are easier than if I were to buy the cords from Poland.

    Thank a a ton . Really helpful. How should one deal with the pdf patterns that ones paid for ? Can those pieces of work be sold ? That pushes up the price , right ?
    I’ll take you advice , start off and then adjust as per need. Thanks again 🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼

    • @annabaginova01
      @annabaginova01  Год назад +1

      Good question, what I would probably do is send an email to the author of that pattern (if you can find their address) and ask for their permission to sell the piece. I get those questions here and there as well and I think it's nice that people ask me before using my tutorials to make a profit for themselves. I have never asked for any fee in return but other people might and so yes that would push the total price higher.

    I have some macrame waiting to be done, I haven't done any since where we are there isn't really any space, I do look at doing a few small and basic ones then expand to more of a variety, it's unfortunate that there's places like Shein that sell these pieces for dirt cheap...

    Hi Anna 🙋 (i hope i wrote it right)...thank you sooo much for your sharing..i am in dilemma right now and hope you can answer my question...i am totally macrame beginner and there is not much option for macrame cord here in my country. The one that we have here is the premium one and i am so tempted to buy it. Do you think practicing knot with premium cord can help my macrame journey become faster/easier? 🌼

    • @annabaginova01
      @annabaginova01  2 года назад +3

      Hi 👋 You wrote it correctly 😉 to answer your question I think it’s more about the type of the cord rather than the quality. I think you learn the fastest with braided cord because that one is easy to unknot and so you can quickly correct it if you make a mistake and the cord will still look good…

    • @innluvfud
      @innluvfud 2 года назад

      @@annabaginova01 Thank you so much for your answer and recommendation..really appreciate it. I will use braided cord first for practicing and trying other type later...thank you again 🌼
