I was looking at a Bluetooth speaker for my daughter (to use in her college dorm) after watching your review my minds made up on the go 4. Sent her the vid as well. BTW I own (still do) the first JBL Flip…since 2014…it lasted 8 years! Started jarring during the last couple of years…what build!
Thanks, due to this review I just order it, sorry not your link since I must do it here in Europe. I own the 3 but I'm addictive to this speakers,....waiting for a future Charge 6 :)
Just today I had to decide between the JBL go 3 ($30) and JBL Go 4 ($50) My first thought, was I like the feel of the go 3 better. It’s a beautiful fabric and it feels good in the hand. The plastic on the Go 4 makes it feel cheap. The go three feels slightly more compact and solid in your hand. I was only going to buy one of these, so I don’t need the Aura cast. My DAP has and equalizer. And I actually like the buttons on the fabric better than I do on the plastic. It makes it easier to tell the difference sound wise they were pretty much the same. I feel the go three has a more audiophile neutral sound (with ample bass) versus the go four which does have more bass but the mid range and treble seem to have a spacialization boost, which makes it sound fuller, but less natural somehow. I just like the package of the go three better - everything else is basically the same so for half The price I went to go three. The number one decision maker for me was just a feel of the unit. I don’t like the new plastic all over the place.
Oh, and I found that in the app you can toggle the opening/closing boom-boom waap. I don't always want to let folks know where my sound's coming from. (Product info / Feedback tone)
Good to see you doing a video on Bluetooth speakers I prefer the Go 3 the 4 has upgrades but the 3 seems to sound better and I still love the GO AND GO2 as well JBL makes a great product construction on the 4 is better it will hold up better outside. Great video glad to see you back with a speaker. You’re a great reviewer.
The best micro speaker i have, i also used to own the GO 2 nad the GO 3, and damn, this has some alot of improvements, still testing the speaker and might make my own review about it.
I love jbl sound…hate the fact none of the 3 or 4 varieties i currently own play with any other jbl speaker…its ridiculous…now i buy BT transmitter/receiver, usb speakers with 3.5mm jacks and powerbanks…separate components that can be swapped out or substituted or individually upgradable…much happier.
I read somewhere that the Go 3 did better with just voices (e.g. audiobooks, YT videos) - is that your experience too? I lost my Go 3 yesterday and I'm not sure if I should upgrade or get the speaker I was happy with again.
Go 2 best vocals but very bad materials and no type c . Go3 better bass then go2 but still has good vocals . But quality is questionable. Go4 improved built but sound is not as good as go3
Thanks for this review. I was interested in picking up a bluetooth speaker and was being pointed toward the Oontz Angle Ultra 3, but after hearing this little guy I think I'll be getting the JBL Go 4 instead 👍
@@ChrispyThings I have the JBL3 for a couple years and it sounds great, can add 5 band EQ form many free apps in the phone and pc, if you cant prove its better in a flat eq situation, the sound 'upgrade' is just a joke, EQ function are free everywhere, even in Spotify, why paid?
Don't buy the JBL GO 4. If you have a chance, go for the JBL GO 2. Sounds way better than the GO 3 or GO 4 version. I have booth of them here in the studio (audio engineer here) and no amount of improvements on the GO 4 could make up for the loss of quality vs the GO 2. My JBL GO 2 has 6 years now, and I'm still impressed at how such a small speaker can sound so good. Thought the new versions would build up on that, but turns out they don't at all.
You have to remember that all JBL GO 2/3/4 have multiple models, meaning that they may sound slightly inferior to other models. Despite being the same model or the designated numbers of the newer ones. Personally, I both have JBL GO 3 and 4 - The 3 is a CN model, the 4 is a DH Model. Both sounded the same - the only noticeable between speakers is that the 3 has better Mid Highs and Slightly on the High Mid compared to my GO 4. Overall, I think both are great, you can stay on your GO 2 if you imagine the GO 4 is inferior (in terms of sound quality) GO 4's bass is more present than the GO 3 in the latest firmware, but to be honest. Bass is not needed for outdoors (if you prefer that terminology) but for a hand size speaker I think the GO 4 is a better choice. But if you really wanted more bass for a hand size speaker - then I would recommend the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2
Never had a 2, but the 4 is marginally better than the 3, unless you turn up the equaliser, that is. GO 4 also does stereo, which is awesome, even with classical music. Everything depends on what you use these excellent speakers for. If you want to entertain outdoors, a bigger speaker would make more sense. Trust your ears, not a sound engineer!
The fact Go4 has the equalizer is already making it a much better choice. Having every GO version from the first, stop lying, each iteration improves the sound. The go3 blows the go2 out of the water.

jbl forever, when you want sound, design, quality and compability, and have some more money in pocket, trust jbl :) fan from 2017
It's going to be hard to tell how the 4 sounds when I'm listening to your video with the 3
😂
me 2 😂

Very good review. Just used your A-link to buy one.
Tbh, you had me with the Fangoria shirt, but loved the review!
Thanks!
This was very informative thank you!!!
Very helpful, thanks!!!

just came in today thanks for the info
Go 4 on sale for $29 at microcenter
Nice
Get it bro! Absolute steal!!
JBL rules... I own the charge 5 TT model ❤
It would be awesome if we've had a widget available for when you want to see the battery and change modes without the need to open that slow app
Good idea
So do you think The branding on the front stands in the way of the sound?😮😮
Finally, a decent review of the GO4! I believe the sound improvement is due to the new casing. The bass is a more gutsy than the GO3.
i feel like JBL makes 50% volume intentionally quiet to bolster battery life figures which are measured at 50% volume
Spot on

Hey man I really enjoyed music ❤😊 14:56

This is actually my observation so far. I hope equalizer could make it clearer like go3 but idk yet.
Just recieved it today as a gift from vodafone:))) better alternative to my flip 6 if i go with my bike through the woods.
JBL go 4 sound incredible such a small speaker a little party speaker in the park!
This is true
Go 2 best vocals but very bad materials and no type c .
Go3 better bass then go2 but still has good vocals . But quality is questionable.
Go4 improved built but sound is not as good as go3
CHRISpy Thingas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeeeeeeessaas!??
Should i upgrade from
Jbl go 3
I would just to get the EQ feature with the app

Good choice
The brand lettering peels off easily like easily I just hope they improve it
Tasty waves sounds better on Go3. Assume that they tried to make Go4 a surround-sound-like speaker.
What if you added velcro to the smooth side of the go 3 to keep it from moving?
I mean sure. But why should we need to do that? Lol
When you actived EQ to JBL4, that mean you changes the music source already, not a fair comparison with JBL3.
Test without EQ first.
It’s a fair comparison. That’s the advantage of the 4 over the 3 is that it has the EQ. That’s the whole point.
JBL 4 is the clear winner

I bought mine 2pcs of go 4 for 74€ and the original price is 49€ each
Stereo :)
Would you recommend over the tribit stormbox micro 2?
I would. I think this sounds better especially with the ability to customize your EQ
I just bought the Go 3 on eBay for 22 dollars plus tax and free shipping
Does it come with a protection case like my go 3?
Mine didn’t
I bought two sony xbs portables for stereo sound it was so bad that i gave them as presents for my coworkers
Yep. Not a fan either
😮jbl go4 😊

I don't think anyone buying a BLUETOOTH speaker especially this small is gonna care about quality

Engineer got roasted..😂
I'm not hearing any difference😮
Oof…
same power output and battery life that's a dissapointment
Drives me crazy that it still ships with USBA. Who tf still uses that?
Chineses.
I still have a bunch of type A adapters around, and some outlets with type A integrated
USB-A is still a pretty common port.
I do. I guess i'm one of those f*cks
Really ? I don't think so
😮😮😮
My JBL Go 3 was stolen a couple years ago but imma get the Go 4
The white light is always on and it's irritating at night
Jbl go 3 concert
Jbl go 4 party
JBL GO 4 NEVER BUY ONLINE.
FAKE OR FAULTY NOBODY TAKES RESPONSIBILITY 😭
I hope the letters JBL will not pile
Wha?
