My grandfather who I never met was born in Galway, at age 17 he had the rank of Captan, in 1923 he was a POW held at the Curragh. Is there any way I could discuss the history with the producers of this channel? There is so much I don’t know, and clearly you here know a great deal.
My grandmother was also born in Galway, they met here in Chicago.

Hi Chris, there is an extensive archive available online where you can research anyone who received medals or pensions from their activities during the period. You will also be able to find accounts of their involvement as all applications had to be evidenced by witnesses. Do you know where in Galway they were born?

@@paulanddee120 thanks so much for the comment. I have I think both of my grandparents papers, with the birthdates. So, granddad was actually in Moycullen, and Grandma in actual Galway.

I think outside of Dublin and Cork, the rising and its aftermath Galway is now the most documented, is this a true reflection of activity on both sides of the Tan war.
