This video basically articulates what I felt when I went to see it in theaters when it came out. I was a HUGE Madagascar fan ever since the fisrt movie, and was hyped after learning they'd make a third one, but... This movie basically killed my interest in the series. The animation was great and there were some funny moments, but I was absolutely uninterested in the story. I get they wanted to do a sort of "letting go of the past" thing by having the character continue to try to get back to NY then later realize that actually they like the circus and stay there, but what they did with the characters (even the new ones) left me entirely uninvested in them. Imo, they should've stayed in Africa and Alex didn't need a GF. They really should've just ended it after 2.

I am with you on this. 2012 is the reason why Madagascar 3 sucks.
To make things worse, they make it a spin-off movie about the penguins in November 26, 2014 and in my opinion was EVEN WORSE than Madagascar 3. Just like the Minions from Despicable Me with their own spin-off/prequel movie in 2015, the penguins from Madagascar were not born to star an entire film. They only serve as supporting characters who steal the scene, just like Scrat from Ice Age (thank God there never was a Scrat movie because that would have be a terrible idea).
To make matters worse, this film has some plot holes (how were Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria able to swim miles from Africa to Monte Carlo???). Besides, Vitaly never wanting to do his performance after the tragic incident he had in the past was not reason to all the other circus animals also gave up into performing well during their shows as we seen in the film. This is easily the WORST and WEAKEST film in the trilogy film! Just like the Ice Age franchise go downhill with Ice Age: Continental Drift, Ice Age: Collision Course, and The Ice Age Adventures Of Buck Wild, the Madagascar franchise also go downhil with this film and also with Penguins Of Madagascar (the penguins only serves as supporting characters and were not born to star an entire movie).

I didn't watch a whole lot of All Hail King Julien. I watched 3 or 4 episodes and I hated it tbh

Quando eu era mais novo eu AMAVA esse filme e era até mesmo o meu filme favorito da trilogia. Mas hoje em dia eu vejo o quão falho esse filme é e também o quão inferior esse filme é comparado aos dois filmes anteriores. Qual era a dificuldade de fazerem um filme com os quatro (Alex, Marty, Melman e Gloria) voltando pra ilha de Madagascar e reencontrando todos os outros lêmures que eram os suditos do Rei Julien? Sério, assim como a franquia A Era Do Gelo infelizmente decaiu completamente com A Era Do Gelo 4, A Era Do Gelo: O Big Bang e A Era Do Gelo: As Aventuras De Buck (também conhecido como "A Era Do Lixo: As Desventuras De Crash & Eddie"), a franquia Madagascar infelizmente decaiu completamente com esse filme e também com Os Pinguins De Madagascar (o filme de 2014). Eu perdi completamente o meu interesse nessas duas franquias e hoje em dia nem as acompanho mais.

E além do mais a dream works abandonou essa franquia em meados de 2015 o quarto filme foi cancelado.
É uma pena. A franquia Madagascar deveria ter terminado no segundo filme mesmo. Só lançaram o terceiro filme e o filme dos pinguins só pra lucrar. @@Sakura19883
