I think the settings for Madagascar 2 and 3 should've been switched around, they should've gone to Europe and joined the circus in the 2nd movie and crash land in Africa and be reunited with their families in the 3rd movie, it ending with them reunited with their own kind in Africa seems like a much more fitting end to the story than them joining the circus

Eh, by the way both films sequels are executed, I actually feel emotionally attached to them even with the fact that the second film took place in Africa for grand reunions and the third film was a story of the zoo animals going back to NYC in a journey throughout Europe with a lot of adventure to make the film so entertaining.

I agree. I tend to be in the minority where I actually think that the second movie is the best out of the three. A lot of people tend to say that the 3rd is the best, but I heavily disagree.
I think the thing about the characters joining the circus wasn't so much about the circus itself, but rather them traveling the world and going on more adventures because that's what they realized they loved to do.

Joining the circus makes sense. You even said that in Madagascar 1 that Marty wanted to keep Alex happy and Alex wanted to keep Marty happy. Alex gets to perform and be a star and Marty gets to travel and explore instead of being kept in a zoo. They find the middle ground of what the main characters want. Not counting Gloria and Melman in this as their arc seems to be that they'd be happy as long as they're all together
You're funny. 2 is easily the best one, no overused references, just solid, snappy jokes and improved animation.

I think Madagascar is a very touching trilogy about friendship, and trying to find where you truly feel at home at, they practically grew throughout the franchise, like, when they thought that the zoo would always feel like home to them, then realizing it’s not how they remember it once they get back, kind of like outgrowing the things you once loved.

I disagree about the 3rd one. I found it the best possible conclusion. The circus is also the best possible compromise between the two friends. Alex still gets to be the center of a show and Marty still gets to travel around the world

Plus, with all their adventures, they could never be happy staying in one place. They outright state that at the beginning with showing how they felt trapped in Africa. I thought the circus made perfect sense, it was the perfect financially sustainable way to keep traveling everywhere but still have a home.

the 1st Madagascar movie was a huge part of my childhood and It will always be special to me. It was one of the first CGI movies I ever saw, also.
Kung Fu Panda and How to train your dragon is a trilogy with a good plot and good fight scenes, while Madagascar is just a fun and comedy trilogy.

I actually find the circus ending quite fitting. It’s a win win for Alex and Marty. Alex can still be a performer like he’s always wanted and Marty gets to travel around the world like he always wanted.
As a kid I adored the second movie. The soundtrack is perfect (Will. I. Am. Did not have to go that hard) and I was legitimately emotionally invested in the story. Even years later I feel it’s a perfect movie.
All three movies don’t even feel like they’re part of the same series.

I thought all the plotlines of the 2nd movie connected really well. You would think things like Mort or the old lady were there just for a quick joke but no, they're actually plot-critical. The penguins robbing the tourists is the cause of the drought, Mort's slapstick shark becomes the sacrifice for the volcano, etc. It's a whole big jigsaw puzzle

i'm a bit late to this video but just wanted to share my thoughts. I think the reason why they joined the circus, which on the surface does look like a complete 180, I believe it is the perfect way to end it. let me explain in the first movie what they wanted is to explore the world, they tried that but got isolation on a island together instead and wanted to go back to normality the zoo which leads to the second movie which they got adventure/exploring the world but now are not together as a family and then again wanting to go back to normality the zoo, However the third movie it gives them the opportunity to do both explore the world and still be together doing what they like entertaining people,which is another thing absent in the second movie. Essentially they were too ingrained to the zoo to become wild animals again while also not wanting to be in the zoo after seeing what the rest of the world is like.

Honestly I loves Madagascar 3, Europe's most wanted. The part where they were trying to get the penguins was amazing, and later on during the chase scene they really showed the Penguins natural technological talents with that high tech super car. I especially love the animal control lady, she will go to any lengths to achieve her goals, even forcing injured partners to help in her endeavors. And the part towards the end was fantastic, all the animals in a giant cage and the animal control lady seizing her chance to get that final kill though because of her lust for achievement and her craziness, she ends up losing to a traveling circus. And I just loved the part where she was tranquilized and acted like a dog like she was acting doing what Alex said, pure humor. All in all while there definetly could've been some improvements here and there it was definitely a great film

Lest we forget Schaff's petty complaints towards the second HTTYD (and Big Hero 6 ONCE AGAIN in the same video, "Why How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the Weakest One"), The Rescuers Down Under (which explains why I didn't see him show it as an example of great sequels in "Why Shrek 2 is a Perfect Sequel", Deadpool 1 in the same video), Monsters vs. Aliens, Joker, Tarzan (technically, I don't MIND his opinion on this Renaissance film to end them all, but like Doug Walker, he thinks it's cool to bash Phil Collins more than the Paul Brothers), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (let alone its characters, like Esmerelda and Phoebus, but excluding Hugo since he is one of the only nitpicks I have towards this otherwise great film, which Schaffrillas Productions is NOT to defend the sequel of like Thiti2000 and Joshua Orro) and a couple of Pixar films in "Every Disney Renaissance Film Ranked" (Up and Finding Nemo)...

Then again, he got asshurt when people complained about Disney Princesses that came before Belle in his infamous (until the third/last act, LOL) "Every Disney Renaissance Feature Ranked" list.

Hell, in "Why The Emperor's New Groove is a Comedic Classic", it started when Schaff compared the only other hand-drawn Disney film based on a Hans Christen-Andersen novel to The Little Mermaid (my least favourite Renaissance film after Pocahontas. And this is coming from someone who is a fan of the Disney Renaissance/90s era!).
So yeah, while Schaffrillas Productions can be absolutely funny, he can, at different times, be pretty argumentative.

10:37 i have one of those toys (the one with the bar thingy) and i remember i was so obsessed with it for no reason and i dont get why at all. im pretty sure i stole it from my younger brother too.
I think what they wanted to do was to tell the story of four friends who have had everything they've ever needed given to them, being thrown into the real world for the first time, but by the end of the trilogy they've grown as individuals and as people and ultimately wish to stay in the real world.

The Madagascar 1 was one of my favourite movies because of music that I lived up was "I like to move it".
