I know so many people who actually say that they prefer dogs over people for those reasons, but this got me thinking about the difference between dog and cat people, as Trent conflated the two. There are so many saying- "dogs gave owners, cats have staff," "everything a woman hates in a man, she lives in a cat." It got me wondering, do people who prefer dogs over people yearn for someone to submit to them, and people who prefer cats want someone to submit to?
I have owned both dogs and cats throughout my life and there seems to be a lot of misconceptions about cat ownership. One thing that is very important to know about cats is that they all have drastically different personalities, some appreciate attention more than others and some have a higher capacity to be affectionate. I had a cat that was very different to what most people think cats are like, he was one of the most loving creatures I ever had, he would let me pet him for hours. When I interact with dogs, most of them are quite hostile towards me and take a while to trust me, cats are often more willing to come to me, which is the exact opposite experience that I have heard from dog owners. I think the reason why dog owners have a harder time with cats is because they often approach them like dogs, they start out overly friendly with them which is not the way to start, you have to approach them calmly and quietly. Also, cats body language is very different from dogs, when cats show their bellies, it means that they feel safe around you but it does not mean that they want belly rubs. You also can’t touch cats wherever you want, they are very strict about boundaries unlike dogs who pretty much let you touch them anywhere, some cats will let you touch them in those areas but only when they get used to you.
You also have to get used to biting and scratching with cats because that is the way that they play with you, but most are often quite gentle when they playfully bite you.
Hahaha that’s actually an interesting take. I think men who like dogs want a loyal obedient partner and women who like cats want a man with his own mind who is in charge

Trent, I’d love to hear your take on "contemporary digital piracy" and its legitimacy, especially with the rise of the “you own nothing” model in digital media. With companies controlling access to information, it’s becoming a complex issue for Catholics trying to navigate moral media consumption. It’s a topic that Catholics don’t really discuss, but I think it's worth exploring. Thanks!

My favorite low-hanging atheist meme is “virgin births are scientifically impossible”. These are the same folks who champion IVF, which does exactly that.
Not only that, but the claim that virgin births are scientifically impossible doesn't state why they could never happen. If God made the laws of science, then He isn't bound by them and can still do scientifically impossible things.
Another point for the first one, think of it like this. 4 People witness a bank robbery, none of them lie but all of their stories are slightly different. Does that make it a lie?

They feel so smart for supposedly having overcome religion but are actually experts in making a fool out of themselves
Meme 1 goes in the complete opposite direction of Atheist thinking: the Bible is not changed since it was written, while Science has been updated frequently to keep up with new discoveries.
So the Bible still insists the world was flooded like in the movie Waterworld and a pair of every single non-aquatic creature fit in a wooden ship smaller than the Titanic?
@haitaelpastor976 there is water beneath the Earth's surface as the Bible says, and Mesopotamia was prone to flooding. If we interpret it through evolution, it isn't hard to see how that could happen
The Bible has changed countless times. "Misquoting Jesus" by Ehrman has a lot of great examples that show how discrepancies between texts throughout history have changed our fundamental understanding of God's nature and Jesus's personality. That's why Catholics stand on the three pillars of the faith and not just one: Bible, Magisterium, tradition, with a fourth one being faith.

As an agnostic atheist, I will agree with Trent on this point. Demeaning post about christianity is unhelpful to discussion and understanding between Christians and Atheists. I do understand that some videos are made with the intention of creating discussion, but come off criticizing christianity. There is nothing wrong believing in Christianity, so long as it is helpful and meaningful to you. But Christianity is bad when it forces it’s beliefs on others or when it causes harm to it’s members though it’s beliefs. As always, I am open to friendly discussion!
>But Christianity is bad when it forces it’s beliefs on others Agreed, which is why the Catholic Church is a strong proponent of religious freedom. No one can be forced to believe in the doctrines described in the Apostles' Creed or the Nicene Creed. Now, if you're referring to the Church's moral teaching that abortion is murder: if the State was about to legalise and even promote something that one believed amounted to murder of a vulnerable and helpless demographic, would one shrug it off and go about one's business? What about human rights and non-discrimination for persons with Same-sex Attraction? The Church absolutely supports this (contrary to what many might think). However, the Church also teaches that sacramental marriage (binding before God, until death) can only take place between biological individuals of the opposite sex. There shouldn't be a problem unless a same-sex couple, knowing the Church's teaching, demands that the Church performs a sacramental marriage for them (which is an impossibility; the Church is literally unable to sacramentally marry 2 members of the same sex). At that point, I don't think either of us would say that the Church is "forcing its beliefs" on the couple if the answer is "no". Now what about transgenderism? This one is very nebulous and I can't do it justice here. Entire essays and books have been written on the Church's stance. That said, the Church also has not "forced its beliefs" on anyone. If a Catholic decides they don't like the Church's teaching on this matter, they can (and do) leave the Church. Not the route I would personally recommend, but no one will force a Catholic to remain in the Church. Nevertheless, the Church does support human rights and non-discrimination for individuals struggling with their sexuality. Now, one could argue that agents of the Church have taken discriminatory and other harmful actions against the above mentioned groups, but to hold the Church (or Christianity as a whole) responsible would be the equivalent to holding Atheism responsible for the actions of the Khmer Rouge. Christianity does not mandate the oppression of people who disagree with it. What flawed humans do in the name of Christianity, however, is a different matter. The Church has acknowledged past wrongs and is always in the process of correcting past mistakes. >or when it causes harm to it’s members though it’s beliefs. This one genuinely has me curious. Can you provide examples?
If you're talking about the Crusades, then, yes, that is a form of how a Religion, ANY religion, can be used to commit great acts of evil. And today, we're experiencing the destructive ideology of Christian Nationalism. We must keep in mind that Christianity is supposed to be a religion, not founded on rituals and patriotism, but rather, a religion founded on God's Grace, surpassing all material things
@@SkyfallenVT - Define what specifically constitutes “forcing beliefs on others”, because that gets problematic very quickly. Some examples: 1). During the Civil War, the south was fighting to preserve slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation forced the view upon them that slavery was unacceptable. Was the Emancipation Proclamation good, or was it an unacceptable example of Lincoln forcing his views on others? 2). Forbes had an article in 2015 detailing that - in spite of the Hyde Amendment - taxpayers cover roughly 24% of abortion costs (most of that is driven by state level contributions which are not covered by the Hyde Amendment). Is the use of funds I contribute through taxation to fund abortions I morally oppose “forcing views” on me? To be clear, I’m totally OK with someone believing abortion should be legal. They can believe whatever they want - they just shouldn’t be able to act on that belief legally. Opposition to “forcing beliefs on others” ultimately distills down to blatant hypocrisy - you don’t want others to force their views on you, but are ok with having your views forced on them (because if you participate in a democracy, that is what you are inevitably doing when you vote).
@@vinoneil So in response to abortion, LGBTQ+ right. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. But let's move on to the main question. How does Christianity harm it's members and I will give you just a few examples. Some members take the "Your a sinner" to heart. It destroys their confidence in themselves and make them think they are worthless. Other members because very fearful of hell that it haunts them and causes them to do things like pray obsessively, have nightmares, etc. So here are a few ways that it can causes harm.
@@MrCusefan44 1) Did this cause in increase in well being for the majority of the people? Then it was good. Did Lincoln force his view on others? It wasn't just Lincoln, the majority of the people whom thought slavery was wrong. While other's wanted to benefit from the labor of others without paying or treating them like human beings. The end answer is that yes one community was forcing their beliefs on another community. It was good for the people that wanted slavery abolished and bad for the people that didn't want to abolished. This is why I don't try to force atheism on others, just as Christians shouldn't force Christianity on others. 2) Laws and amendments are something we vote on and the majority gets what they want. Not everyone is going to "win". I do see what you mean and I can agree that different views are forced on all of us. But what I was mainly getting at is forcing Christianity or Atheism on others. I see how saying forcing beliefs on others could be taken wrong. I should maybe say trying to convert others. This is why I enjoy friendly discussions to help me to communicate better as well.

Fun Fact: Religion didn't need a belief on a God or belief in spiritualism to considered it as a religion because the definition of religion is, to had trust or faith in your beliefs and practices. @@AlCapwnd-tb5owYou do realize that many Christians read the Bible first before subscribing to Christianity, right? And even if you are a young child and your parents bring you to church so that you can learn about Jesus, You can acknowledge that certain topics like rape and incest are not suitable for children, correct? Otherwise, the priest or pastor will have to change his entire sermon to make it more appropriate for younger children. So what happens in Baptist churches is that the children go into a separate part of the church to learn about different stories in the Bible that are appropriate for young children. It's not that Christian parents don't teach their children about rape or sex in general. (Because that also appears to be a misconception). It's just seen as less appropriate for the pastor to talk to the children about mature themes, and if a child or an adult wants to learn about that, they should actually open the Bible-not just at church, but when they're at home-and read, because they have an obligation to read and understand scripture. Going to church is really about celebrating the Lord, talking about the issues that are happening in our society, or discussing what a certain holiday represents or what it means to be a Christian. And it sounds like you're saying Christians don't acknowledge that people sin in the Bible? But the Bible isn't justifying those sins. It's just recounting historical events. For example, Lot’s daughters slept with him to conceive a child. That's not a justification. It just describes that act in the Bible very briefly. But this could be interpreted as the bad ideas they picked up while growing up in a decrepit city. In Leviticus, God goes on to say that incest is wrong. And if you're saying, "God sinned," then you would be wrong because God is incapable of sinning. God is ALL KNOWING. He defines what sin is, and because God is moral, righteous, and amazing, He can't possibly sin. Our understanding of sin comes from God. God promised never to flood the Earth again. He was upset with His creation and said, "You know what? Just scrap the whole thing." But Noah, one good person, changed all of that. God told the Hebrews what to do to defend their country, His chosen people. But again, that doesn't mean genocide is good. The term genocide comes from the holocaust. Hence, genocide can be described as a campaign of selective murder and subjugation of a people. If God is all-knowing, and He says, "These people are going to destroy you," then it makes sense for Him to advise His people to kill and claim the land for themselves. The people needed to do it to protect themselves.

Being an atheist would be like Mario denying that any entity created his game. It will be interesting to see if there will be an AI-driven Mario game in the future, and he turns to the screen and shouts out how he doesn't believe in you, the player.
That hasn't ANYTHING to do with my rational position of atheism. I am not convinced any particular god is a reality, for I have never encountered any credible evidence suggesting such a reality. So, until I do encounter sufficient credible evidence that such a reality exists, I will continue to suspend any acknowledgment concerning the truth of _your_ claim that one does. THAT represents the entirety of my position of atheism. Instead of fearing this rational position and disparaging those that hold to it, take the time and effort to understand the position.
@Theo_Skeptomai The proof that God exists is that anything exists at all. Someone had to have come up with all the rules and math about how the universe works, in the same way someone had to program the mario game. The fact that anything exists violates the law that matter cannot be created or destroyed. So to me, it makes sense that something outside of this reality can break the rules. That is my position. I don't fear your position and I don't mean to disparage. I can totally understand why you feel that way and I'm sorry. What I do fear a bit for you is that proving God's existence is like Mario proving the programmers' existence. Mario and the programmer exist in two totally different realities that can only interact by the programmer having an avatar in the game (i.e. Jesus in our reality). So if the avatar is performing things that aren't normally allowed in the game (i.e. miracles) and Mario wasn't alive yet to see it and so doesnt believe, them I'm afraid he will never see physical proof.
@S.D.323 I can see that it can be a rational decision given certain lines of thinking. Let's say your rationale is that because God doesn't make himself known in a physical form and proves His existence by blatantly showing Himself, He must not exist. I can see someone saying that. If you look at my response to the other person, you can see why I don't think God is going to show physical proof of himself anymore, and therefore won't be able to be proven with science. If Mario doesn't have a reason to believe in the programmer, maybe he should ask others why they believe and really consider all those reasons.

@@Naomi-bw5qs I don't know. I worked at an animal hospital for seventeen years, so know a lot of cat ladies, and most of them seem to want to dominate their partners. As always, I am open to friendly discussion!
>But Christianity is bad when it forces it’s beliefs on others
Agreed, which is why the Catholic Church is a strong proponent of religious freedom.
Some examples:

@@AlCapwnd-tb5ow You don't go to Hell for being bad
@@AlCapwnd-tb5owYou do realize that many Christians read the Bible first before subscribing to Christianity, right?
And even if you are a young child and your parents bring you to church so that you can learn about Jesus,
You can acknowledge that certain topics like rape and incest are not suitable for children, correct?

One of the most fundamental premises to atheist rhetoric is the idea that nobody ever deserves anything bad to happen to them.
If Mario has no reason to think said player exists that is perfectly rational for him to hold such a belief
God was invented by the Jews.
I love these videos, they genuinely make me laugh. You were a key part in bringing me to catholicism and I thank you for that.
I’m not a catholic, but Trent Horn is one of the people I agree with the most.
Christ is King.
Christ is a myth.
Jesus was at least a real person most scholars agree on that you cant omit someone if they dont fit your narrittive if george washington did not fit my narritive that does not mean he wasnt real@@AtheistRizz-d6y
@@J4ximus1776 Even if Jesus was a historical person, him being the Christ or "King" is mythology, not history.
@@AtheistRizz-d6y that is what can be debated there is evidence
@@AtheistRizz-d6y Man you are so salty.
Ah yes, that well known scientifically quantifiable measurement of 'full of wonder'.
You’re responding to these as if they are arguments, but they’re literally just memes, clearly no thought was put into them so why argue against them? Also you using this as if it’s what all atheists think is quite nonsensical, what if I did this same thing with stupid memes that you don’t agree with and call you stupid for it? I wouldn’t, because that’s obviously not your beliefs, but whoever made the meme. (Btw meme 2 isn’t even a meme it’s a quote lmao)
He wasn't acting as if these represented all Athiests, I don't know what gave you the idea that he was
differentiating "arguments" and "memes" when they are used against the same side is not a good idea, he is arguing against them literally because they are used in the same method as "arguments" and are played around in a mockingly way in Christian access. also by that logic he didn't put any thought into his arguments and just scraped them off easily. bro didn't even say that it was for all atheists so where did that come from and that example you just mentioned is just called an argument. meme 2 is used in a way to be a meme.
im not even a christian so im not bias here
5:46 Woke trans: stop poking fun at me, it's bigotry
Also woke trans:
The negative iq statement cracked me up. Keep it coming Trent.
100% great job, my Catholic brother.
Bro just obliterated meme 8 mah goodness
You can tell almost all these came from reddit.
2:50 Did they really put an American flag over Christianity?
😂😂😂yeah lol
New dummy in the religion of atheism. Also didn't label Judaism as zionism
3:13 Sed contra: "The heart is deceitful above all things. Who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9)
Explain to me, what god is to you. Explain to me, how god is real. Convert me
It's simple, all you have to do is stop rejecting Santa Claus then you won't have to buy your kids Christmas presents, they will appear magically under your tree each Christmas. Please stop rejecting Santa because he has a special place at the South Pole for people who reject him. A place when you will spend eternity with the sniffles, and the constant cold freezing your blood. Feel Santa's love and generosity now and stop rejecting him.
There, does that make sense to you now?
@@mirandahotspring4019 Nope, doesn't make any sense at all to me
an all powefull being one arument is fine tunning how the universe is perfect forr life in an fundamental level as even an slight change could easly end the universe
@@diegolopesme Life as we know it exists because the universe is the way it is.
Because then conditions were the way they were life evolved. If they had been different then perhaps life would be different. Maybe there have been other different universes before ours, some with life some without.
@@mirandahotspring4019 not alot of times contidons -live cant exist second if all the past universe had the same law physics then eventually 1 thing that is living would exist if they diferent law of physics then eventually it would allow god to exist
This channel is getter better and better.
