Astronaut Leo Davidson whips through space and time to a world where apes and gorillas rule the humans. Captured, he is nurtured by Ari and hunted by General Thade as he leads a rebel group of humans and chimpanzees in search of his downed craft. Tim Roth’s eyes under all the ape makeup were so captivating and expressive. No one did it better than him as a villain. He’s a GOAT actor.
Thade was a seriously scary villian. Just looked brutal.

He murdered them because he knew about humans and how they ruled before apes and he didnt want anybody to know PERIOD. He didnt want to take a chance on one them letting the cat out the bag. At the end of the movie it shows how he helped the Apes overthrow the humans when Walberg travels to the past, only to discover a giant statue honoring Thad and Apes running society. The ending was confusing wasnt it?
I agree with these comments...the ability to jump like a giant, Stinking, hairy flea was silly, though the faces were more realistic than the original which were pretty good for the time.

No wonder Tim's back hurt from this film, he was carrying it. A bit over the top but it works in such an uninspired or bored cast where most have nothing to do like Erick Avari or Cary Tagawa, Mark Wahlberg is woefully miscast.
1:10 Holy shit that's Kevin Grievoux from Underworld, his voice is impossible to miss.
Michael Clarke Duncan did a good job in the film too. He was awesome as Attar.
Even though this remake sucks but the best part of the film is the outstanding prosthetic makeup made by movie makeup legend, Rick Baker! 💯 Also Tim Roth (aka Abomination of the MCU) did a great job of portraying the ape villain, General Thade.
Mark Wahlberg didn't need any makeup lol😅
Neither did Michael Jackson who was amazing in this movie.

Considering CG today still can look pretty God Awful the practical effects and makeup for this hold up even today. Too bad the same cannot be said for the script😆

Looks like thade is very upset that he didn’t notice about the random ship was landed and that’s why thade killed his own army teammates.
This movie was so over the top and silly. One of the worst films of 2001.
