I know it's a bit late now but the "only time will tell in less than ten" refers to a set of set time cards that activate within ten seconds of her making that announcement.
One one hand, I’m so glad to *finally* have an explanation for that, but on the other I’m so angry that it’s so contrived and stupid. XD Then again, considering what game it is...
I need to see a collaboration of LRR and one of their board game friends make the last two Nightmare videos for people to play with. I can imagine Ben or Graham hamming it up as a monster for an hour.
I get it, she gives lots of keys early on so that she can lull you into a sense of security and then starts hitting all these things where "if they have 6 keys" or "if anyone is on the inner trail" events.
The trick to remember in all the Nightmare games is that despite all the nonsense that the host puts you through, in the last two minutes, every host will give away all the keys to at least one player. So from there it’s just a matter of making sure players keep rolling as fast as possible to get that person to the Nightmare square.
It's like what would happen if you made Mario party into an actual board game and removed all the mini games but left in all the unfair bullcrap that goes down on the boards. That being said, I'd play this with some friends and a heartbeat if I had a copy.
So at 51:20 or so, Ian is looking at one of the cards muttering “If the pig picks 9 or 10….” So all those times Anne says “only time will tell in less than 10,” is triggered by one of those cards. There are spell and Time cards that act on whatever number is chosen, but have to be done in less then 10 seconds after Anne says that. She does so just before each 10 minute mark. Ultimately the spell cards in the game are broadly useless. You’ll either never have both halves of the spell, nor will the conditions arise to actually cast them. Even if all conditions are met, it usually just screws over another player anyway rather than giving you the keys you need.
Lmaooo, these guys are so fun to watch an their so hillarous when the witch pops out an says SILENCEEEE! They all get scared or make a facial expression of being caught off guard, lol.
Around the 30 minute mark, I realized the reason that Anne keeps delaying her words by long periods of time, is because we're watching her burn alive, the delay is from her is from the pain from inhaling hot air. Part 2: at the end, the reason she's discolored and slimy, is because of side-effects of being burned... this is again a random police drama trivia I know...
lightningbro I thought I was the only one to notice. Anne de Chantraine was accused of witchcraft, so she was burned to the stake at only 17. She longed for purpose in her life, she felt unimportant. When she was accused, and ultimately burned, she felt important because the spotlight was on her. So when she transforms, I think it symbolizes her shedding who she use to be and embracing what she was labelled; a "witch".
@@frogdogcat22 Not easy to support such facts though, I've read tons of biographies depicting Anna at a different age and giving different versions of her death.
@@frogdogcat22 yeah I guess that's because it happened in the middle ages, and proper documentation got lost, if it even existed in the first place! For instance I read somewhere that it was heavily raining on the day she got burnt, and they had to light the fire many times, directly from her body rather than from the kindling wood. But again, God knows how it actually took place!
Well, Nightmare IV with Elizabeth Bathóry takes the cake with her sexual behavior and voice throughout the game. In fact, Bathóry's actress is the same one who portrayed Anne de Chantraine.
I hope the prices of Nightmare 2&3 were augmented to be lower than the cost of the first given that it needs the resources of the first game. As has been pointed out, 2&3 are more like expansions than games in their own right.
For some info, the thing you say after Anne says “confess” is actually Latin for “my fault Anne”, since Anne de Chantraine was a 17 year old woman who was wrongfully accused of being a witch and was burned at the stake. And yes I had to Google translate that into latin
So, a young woman was killed because she was suspected of being a witch, and then returns later to take her misdirected revenge on anyone who plays a certain videotape... Let's just check the wiki... Published in 1993. Does that technically make this the first adaptation of the novel Ring? The first Japanese TV version didn't come out for another two years. Come to think of it, how did they never make an official Ring VHS game like this? Sure it would have bombed at the time, but imagine what they'd go for on eBay now!
The game's "we recognize that Anne de Chantraine was a real person who was wrongfully accused and horribly murdered, but in our narrative she's an actual evil witch and they were right to burn her alive" take is bit of a weird one to me. Like in the previous ones, the actor really commits. Which is always fun.
Reminds me of when I used to play it with friends as a teenager in the 90's. I still have them all in my cupboard. Loved the Atmosfear games. Apart from the Soul Rangers one. The video was just dreadful for it. Couldn't understand what that Mastiff dude was jabbering on about.
If there was a revision of the original nightmare game, there should be a split screen/fade over with the timer and the face thing when the host comes on the screen and not have any time cards.
If they were still playing about two mins after they paused the video, they might have lost as Anne does this bullshit move of taking all of the winning persons keys for no reason. Got very lucky as got me a few times
This is up there with the weirdest things I've seen on RUclips. 🤣🤪😮 I can only imagine the kind of parents and grandparents that might mistakenly have purchased this game for their offspring, juxtaposed with the ones that purchased it on purpose.
Like; the timer not pausing while the hosts are on the screen, has to be one of, if not, the most infuriating parts. Especially here where, props to her acting, she is eating the fucking scenery. She is turning into a literal screen hog. Gatekeepers starring contest is one thing, but dragging out her interruptions for grunts and squeals is just, evil design.
When my siblings and I were growing up we had a game like this, except it was Star Trek Next Gen themed. A Klingon took over the Enterprise and you had to play as cadets who were somehow the only ones left on board to try and stop him. One of the punishments was to "Experience Bij!" "Bij" being pronounced exactly like Beej and I so want someone to send LRR a copy so they can play it with Beej jumping out to do horrible things to the players when they have to "Experience BIJ!"
goddamn this anne lady is a rough listen... the baron wasn't always clear, but at least he was quick, not painfully slow like this... makes for way worse watching. At least the players are still great...
Lmao I never seriously laughed so much,oh I remember 5his game but we played this in the game in the dark an we were scared but these guys ruin the moment but it's funny, lol.

Alex in his Evil Alex voice would be delicious. Cam would also naturally be suited towards these sadistic, evil roles.
No the Grapekeeper!
I'd love to see that.
Imagine if they got Wenanty Nosul (Gatekeeper actor) to reprise his role for a Desert Bus or AFK bit...HOLY SHIT HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE
I would pay money for that.

Sub-dom was a turn I did NOT expect this series to take.
man normally you have to pay good money for that sort of treatment.
Well, somebody paid for the game, hahaha!
Honestly as messed up as it is I can't stop chuckling at the idea of someone actually giving out board game instructions while burning at the stake.
I'm impressed at how quickly Ian managed to think of that X-men reference
Yeah that was lightning fast.
no pun intended :/
This game series is like the Strictly Worse Cube of board games. Fun to watch others play, but I would never want to play it myself.
Strictly black hole.
I'd play this
It's like what would happen if you made Mario party into an actual board game and removed all the mini games but left in all the unfair bullcrap that goes down on the boards. That being said, I'd play this with some friends and a heartbeat if I had a copy.
37:40 when Serge gets scared and subtly looks like, “I’m over this shit” LOL
At 35:33 and 35:38,
The sheer blissful joy of rolling your number
for a key is deeply satisfying!
😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌

It's so weird that the Host on the TV is in Sync, but Sound of the Rest of the Stream is out of Sync with the Video
I think that they did that on purpose.
Lmaooo, these guys are so fun to watch an their so hillarous when the witch pops out an says SILENCEEEE! They all get scared or make a facial expression of being caught off guard, lol.
I noticed the flames on the time screen get larger as the game goes on; nice touch.
Carrie Kube the first one has the moon, the second one was a heart rate and the fourth with candles melting

Jesus... 😨
This was more sexual than I was expecting a kids game to be.

@@ThomasJeff1898the amount of times she has licked her hand or said something like “I’m feeling playful” makes me squirm due to the fact that WHYYYYYY
Trivia: "Mea Culpa, Anne" translates to "My fault, Anne".

Well, Sadako gives you a heart attack in 7 days. Anne just makes you play a board game and calls you a pig.
What was Serge's fear? I've listened over that part several times but there's too much cross-noise to make it out.
It was the one which Graham read out loud to win the game. Serge said that he shuddered as Graham read it out loud.
On second thought, maybe not. I did not see a shudder.
I think it was Crane Flies.
how many kids do you think learned something about themself from playing this game?
I love the laughter echoing down from the friendzone.
YES, My Gatekeeper. First one was the best. Funny af.
41:20 and 43:24, Ian & Graham scaring the shit out of Serge 😂
It's more Heather that makes it good. Them just laughing from off-camera is p. great :D

Haha yeah i was thinking that too
With time cards, we used to focus on the time presented and read it as the time hit mostly.
2:37 that back crack
Ah man, they missed the 50 minute mark as the biggest turning point of the game going "Oh shit, why do I hear Latin choir." they just won the game?
15:45 - Nice X-Men reference there Ian!
Reminds me of when I used to play it with friends as a teenager in the 90's. I still have them all in my cupboard. Loved the Atmosfear games. Apart from the Soul Rangers one. The video was just dreadful for it. Couldn't understand what that Mastiff dude was jabbering on about.
Still cool that they expanded on the soul rangers idea
Anne: get on your hands and knees
Me: woof~
Greame: *does so*
Anne: You get free turns
Greame: I’m In The Hole :D
Everyone else: BAWAHAHAHA
On rewatch
Are we sure Serge isnt just several squirrels in a human robot?
I worry for this mans attention span and memory
I don’t think the sound is timed right.
We never did find out what "Less than 10" meant.
Or if those threats ever paid off.
I can feel that atmosfear (tm)
can I use my gatekeeper board game with the video of nightmare III? I mean are they compatible?
No, the Time and Fate cards won’t match. If you buy a copy of the game on eBay, that’s what you’re really buying.
If there was a revision of the original nightmare game, there should be a split screen/fade over with the timer and the face thing when the host comes on the screen and not have any time cards.
"37 bitch!!!!" hahah brilliant!!! are you ever going to play the vampires board game or the harbingers?
This is amazing, I was laughing the entire time
I swear the atmosphere series is my fave
I was 37 in 2017 hype !
If they were still playing about two mins after they paused the video, they might have lost as Anne does this bullshit move of taking all of the winning persons keys for no reason. Got very lucky as got me a few times
1:04:24 this proves that if the dvd version of nightmare III is released it can be done
MY BODY IS NOT REGGIE!!!
Yeeeeeeesss it's finally here! ❤️❤️
Atmosfear!
26:25 is the funniest shit.
This is up there with the weirdest things I've seen on RUclips. 🤣🤪😮
I can only imagine the kind of parents and grandparents that might mistakenly have purchased this game for their offspring, juxtaposed with the ones that purchased it on purpose.
“The accents all over the place” ….she’s a French actress playing a French woman accused of witchcraft 😂😂
And the game was made in Australia...

do you play nightmare 4?
When my siblings and I were growing up we had a game like this, except it was Star Trek Next Gen themed. they have already played it. and beej was one of the players.
Indeed!
ruclips.net/video/na2nfZ33s7I/видео.html
Bij is the klingon word for punishment.
Brilliant
45:36 the time pressure is starting to rise
u can't pause the game
alan hanna they dont have a vhs player and thus when they press stop, it wont count.
What accent is she supposed to be doing? Sounds like a terrible French accent
Frederique Fouche is her name!
To me it doesn't even sound french. It sounds like someone trying to do a European accent but can't decide on which one.
The actress is French. She is using her natural voice. She also plays Elizabeth Bathóry in Atmosfear IV
that french accent physically hurt me to listen to
This is the 100th comment.
goddamn this anne lady is a rough listen... the baron wasn't always clear, but at least he was quick, not painfully slow like this... makes for way worse watching. At least the players are still great...
Josh Townsend, it's meant to be slow as your being tortured from the fires that engulfed her
I believe you've been playing this wrong the whole time. You were suppossed to roll both dices instead of one when it's a normal turn.
A fan, hi
Tristan H i thought the two dice only goes to those who are playing as Anne
do part 4
12
Lmao I never seriously laughed so much,oh I remember 5his game but we played this in the game in the dark an we were scared but these guys ruin the moment but it's funny, lol.
I managed to watch around 12 minutes, but got fed up when one of the guys literally couldn't read 'Baron Samedi'.
That was amazing
