    Ebisu Drift Matsuri is a magical creation that is a true cornerstone of drifting. It's such an experience and, with international travelers being allowed into Japan again, this year's matsuri had some of the feelings of years prior. I hope it continues to recover in attendance and new chassis options continue to be sorted out. So eager to get a car and get some laps in at the next matsuri!

    Cool video! The Z33 is for sure becoming the new missile at Ebisu. There is even a fleet of them for rent there now through SideX. The main reason why it's taken so long for them to take off is just price & aftermarket part support in Japan. Now that alot of the Japanese tuner shops are embracing the overseas part makers for these cars & becoming dealers for them it's just become viable. There has been a huge wave of them recently. Both the owner & manager of Ebisu recently picked up a few for some fun. But a JZX100 is still nostalgic & the best IMO. Mainly everyone wants to match with their friends so you can back to back tandem. It's no fun when your car is too slow or your friend has more grip & power. We all use the same chassis, setup & tire size so we can all go door to door with everyone there. It's like the unspoken gentleman's agreeement at Ebisu so you can drive with everyone in the trains.

      Much appreciated! Well said - definitely good additions to the discussion! I'm happy to hear the Z33 support is catching up - making drifting accessible/attainable for beginners is huge and the Z fills that void well. And for sure! Being able to drive with your friends is really what it's all about so that should definitely play into the decision (and what makes the Z more appealing for me).

    When Power Vehicles was the main support company for drifters at Ebisu they encouraged you to use cars that they had spares for. They didn’t have spares for 350Z so people didn’t use them. Now SideX uses 350Z they probably have plenty of spares available hence people are using them. 😎👍🇯🇵

    As someone who just visited Japan for the first time in Sept and Oct 22 I can say PLEASE Y'ALL do everything you can to visit. I started a automatic savings account so every month money was automatically deposited into it for spending while I'm there. I also got a new credit card that earns better travel points so my everyday purchases will go towards the tickets.
    My 2nd trip to Japan, planned for Apr 24, will be Osaka, Tokyo and then north of Tokyo because that's where the tracks are!!!

    Great video - Seems like it's the opposite. In the states, Z33 is a great option as far as price. In Japan, it seems like Z33s really hold their value due to a lot of them being special versions. C35 is awesome; used to be way cheaper than JZX100 but now they are getting up there

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I think the tides are turning for the Z33s in terms of gaining in popularity and becoming a bit more affordable. There's at least a huge pool of cheap AT chassis to manual swap or pull spares from with the same spec engine. C35's have plenty of donor parts from all the grandpa spec chassis' running around, but the engines and missions are drying up much like JZXs so it's hard to see them as a great base for a fresh build (for a beginner). Really all just depends on what you're wanting and what your situation is. You're right though - the nice C35s are finally going up in value.

    How much is it to enter in the ebisu matsuri I’m living in Okinawa and plan to ship my car to mainland to drive in the 2023 fall matsuri I have a lot of other costs figured out but was wondering how much it is to attend the actual matsuri itself

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад

      Oh nice, good for you for making the effort! If you register early, it's 15,000 for the weekend and 20,000 day-of. Regular daily rates are like 4,000-9,000 depending on which courses you drive and half or full day. If you can stretch it out to come up a day or two early, it's pretty easy to double your track time for a fraction more money.

  • @OkinawaWild
    @OkinawaWild Год назад

    Not sure why the Z33 didn't take off... Maybe because it never came as a turbo, so people still think it costs a lot of money to get power from it? There's like 50 MT's on Goo right now for sub-¥1M. $2K for a Haltech Platinum plug in, and you're off to the races...literally. ECU and exhaust and a DE is at 300hp. Cheap turbo kit and the right tuner, and it'll do 500hp all day long on the stock engine. If I hadn't of bought the Yaris 😆

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  Год назад

      I'm not sure either. I always figured road tax was high being a 3.5L so that made them less attractive and they never dropped to silly cheap like they did in America a few years ago. And here in Japan they never really filled a "hole" in the market. Silvias/JZX/etc were cheap until the past few years so no one really needed to seek out "the next chassis" until recently whereas American's have always been on the hunt for something better ever since we got 240's with a truck engine. hahaha. But yeah, it's hard to not see them as the best bang for the buck platform at the moment. AT's are dirt cheap and plentiful for engines and spare parts. So much potential and a wayyy overbuilt drivetrain (excluding engine). Sell the Yaris! hahaha

    Did my first Matsuri in 2009 and roughly 13 since. It was definitely better befor and got worst with shit attitude people and antics as social media blommed

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  8 месяцев назад

      I did my first in 2011. Those were the days of people writing off cars on Minami every other lap (not that much but you know what I mean). Having attended in 2021 before boarders opened back up and then again in 2022 with the boarders opened, it definitely had more energy in 2022. Kind of like 2011 which was nice to see. It used to be Noriyaro or Speedhunters articles that got people excited for matsuri, now it's social media. Same thing; just a louder speaker and more eyes on drifting is good for the track and all businesses involved. It's neat to see even with the current car prices, Ebisu is still a bucket list destination for enthusiasts and they do what they can to make the trip happen.
