I agree! Following Christ is simple - BUT, it's not easy. Our Lord said a lot more than just becoming like a child... we also have to eat His flesh, be born of the water and the Spirit, do the Will of the Father, etc..
      - “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life within you."
      - “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
      - “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
      - Plus a ton of other required beliefs/teachigns.
Yes, the full picture is is simple, but not easy.

That’s not what we believe. We have the same belief as most of Protestants when it comes to salvation, the only difference is how it’s worded.
We accept the fact that everyone is sinful and undeserving of heaven, and only through faith in God can we be saved. Good works don’t bribe God into saving us, they are merely a testament to our faith. We don’t emphasize works over faith, but rather teach that one without the other is dead.

Just to clarify: the words that we us and how we structure (word them out) can mean life or death. For example: you said that Faith in God saves us, but even demons believe in God (which doesn't save them). Specifically - belief in the fact that sacrifice of Christ pays for our sins and makes us right with God, saves us. Salvation itself is only through Jesus Christ. I applaud you for knowing that our works are supposed to be out of our belief that we are saved and as saints before God we ought to act as such. I hope I understood that last part correctly.

That's not truly what the 'Good works' part of salvation truly means. Faith and Good Works simply means avoiding Sin and that salvation CAN be taken away if we are to sin so blatantly. The true Christian faith would not exist if we were to simply accept, 'Oh yes, Jesus died for my sins. Now let me continue committing them, because only by faith alone am I saved!" 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

A Catholic is never free. He always is in doubt if he will make it to heaven. And God tells us we get this gift out of His love and grace. Grace is when you get something you don't deserve.

All of the Bible confirms Catholicism, a majority of Christianity rejects teachings that none of the early Church Father would neither the earliest Christians. No one would have the Bible without Catholicism, No one would understand the difference between heresy and truth. Christ truly is the only thing that has saved us, without Christ and His love and His sacrifice we would have no salvation. @yakso9990 I usually don't go too in depth with this as I am semi-versed as a long devout Christian but I think the message is simple.
We do not do anything TO be saved (justification) but BECAUSE we were saved, we try to pick up our crosses daily in our walk with God (sanctification).
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) We didn't deserve eternal life but it was given to us by the grace of God.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9). The grace mentioned is the sacrifice. God had given Jesus and there is absolutely nothing we have done, are doing, or can do to cleanse our sins. Only the untainted blood of Christ can take our sins to the cross as the perfect sacrifice. Christ is our justification before the judge on judgment day, not our works.
      That's the good message.
Now as Ryan? (Sorry, first time running to your channel and love your work) explains with the firefighter analogy, we are saved from the fire not because of our good works, it's solely the act of the firefighter. And after salvation, we definitely do not slap (try not to slap) our rescuer because we have been saved and are grateful. Likewise, we try to change and liken ourselves to be like the Savior who is not of the world so that we to can also be closer to the savior. We please the saver not to be saved but because we have been saved. A concept known as sanctification.
This is a concept that differentiates from every other religion where people believe after death that their deeds will be their justification, when in fact Christ is the only justification.

You didn’t address anything I put forward from the history of Christianity or from all the Bible passages I listed which go against what this man is saying. The gift of salvation is free by the grace of God and Jesus our Lord and Savior is the only reason why we have this gift. How can you say you love Him and follow Him when you don’t even hold all of His teachings, this man doesn’t, he said you don’t need to be baptized to be saved which is anti biblical, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:16, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.” There is so many places in the Bible that speak about the direct opposite of what this man is teaching. I can answer any question you put forward to me because I am living with the Holy Spirit and living within His Church of the fullness of truth that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ put upon earth. You cannot answer my questions and neither can this man because you are simply not living within all that He put forward for us to follow. I’m sure you love God, I’m sure you want to be with Him yet you and so many deny His teachings and His word and even deny 7 books of the Word of God because you’d rather believe things like this that “tickle the ear” from this man and Martin Luther as St. Paul said many would. I think you should really look into the Scriptures I put forward in my previous comment and look into the history of Christianity and were it started, what they believed, and what even one of the first disciples of John of the Gospel and Revelation was taught by him. I leave you with this from that very disciples own writings, one of the first martyrs, and Saints, and teachers who put down so much that we are supposed to follow just as him and the apostles, “St. Ignatius (AD 110): “[heretics] abstain from Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the Flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ…”” Letter to Smyrnaeans 6, 2, 2.

      @richarddatoy2077 3 месяца назад +9

@@bekxh I will simplify my answer with this one....What "sounds to be" biblical does not necessarily mean THE Biblical Truth. Meaning, this is all about the question of AUTHORITY to interpret the Bible. For example, for us Catholics we know the meaning of the Bible being the WRITTEN Word of God through the help of these 2 pillars: the Magisterium, meaning the Teaching Authority of the Church, which is the pillar and the foundation of the Truth (1 Tim. 3:15) and the Church's Sacred Tradition --those what Jesus did but were not written cf. John 21:25 ( thus with capital letter T; not the small t which refers only to human traditions). So these two serve as our guide in approaching the WRITTEN Word of God all of which, obviously, is under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Please notice the emphasis on the word written because for us that's what the Bible is. So for us Catholics we firmly believe in Solo Verbum Dei which means The Word of God Alone. The WORD OF GOD is revealed to us in its FULLNESS through the WRITTEN (Bible), the "UN-WRITTEN" (Sacred Tradition), and the Magisterium (Church Teaching Authority). In contrast, the Protestants believe only on what Luther started in 1517 namely SOLA SCRIPTURA or the Bible alone.
To sum it up, the Catholic Faith basically is THE WORD OF GOD ALONE.

Yes, the original FORMATION of The Church! And if MAN WITHIN the original Catholic formation of the church fails to get the doctrines 100% right over the span of 2,000 years, am I gonna abandon the original formation of Christs church? No!
The gentleman in the video speaks as if all Protestants follow the exact same doctrines. I see this Catholic criticism all the time, BUT THEN ironically I see that Protestants have just as much disagreements amongst each other as they do towards Catholics… and if that isn’t mentioned then it shouldn’t be mentioned to Catholics, why? CAUSE WERE ALL IN CHRIST.
Catholic Priests are not my God, JESUS CHRIST IS.
      Ephesians 1:23
“The church is Christ's body, the completion of him who himself completes all things everywhere.”
If all Christians are in Christ, regardless of what type, are we not all in the same “CHURCH” as according to Ephesians 1:23?
This silly division provocation should stop, why are we promoting Christian on Christian debate?
Are we forgetting how we are truly saved?
And if some Catholics would like to go the extra mile, (confession, sacraments, etc) why should it call for Protestants to act like they are any less Christian? & vice versa. Does this not cause division?

@@bekxh Brother, I have wrote many comments refuting this false teacher with the Scriptures and history. The guy on the left is not a man of God, he is leading people away from Christ's own Church which He put in place for the salvation of mankind. If you really want the truth then I recommend watching someone like Catholic Truth because he's refuted dozens of these men with cold hard facts about Scripture and history. I'll give you one example, this false preacher says you don't need to be baptized to be saved, well that is not what the Scriptures teach whatsoever, and this is a man made belief that didn't exist until the 1500's. Otherwise known as a tradition of men, these same men wanted to remove 7 books from the Bible, (in which they did in the 1800's) and now most Protestant's have an incomplete Bible. Btw I am talking about the first Bible to ever exist, it was compiled by the Catholic Church in 381-382AD and it contained 73 books and not 66. If we are to trust the words of our Lord and Scripture then we have to trust that when the Holy Spirit wrote through John in 1 John 2:27 that it would be impossible for the Church to go astray and certainty for the 1st Bible to be wrong. It would literally contradict the words of Christ but this man is teaching exactly that. Please don't follow this man, the devils know the Scriptures then any man to ever live, how you combat this is by knowing them yourself and knowing the our shared Christian history.

Stop using Scripture out of context and finish the text. Eph 2:8-10, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the GOOD WORKS that God has prepared in advance, that we should in them."
And no I'm not done, you don't understand the Scriptures and just cherry picked one verse to suit your beliefs which is a butchery of the context that that verse was written in the first place with. At least finish the sentence.
What does the Bible teach though?
Faith alone or faith plus works?
Jam 2:24, "See how a person is justified by WORKS and NOT by FAITH ALONE."
Jam 2:25-26, "And in the same way, was not Rahad the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route? For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD."
Gal 5:6, "For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, BUT ONLY FAITH WORKING through love." Faith does not matter if it is not working through love.
1 Cor 13:2, "And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge; if I have ALL FAITH so as to move mountains but DO NOT HAVE LOVE, I am NOTHING." Faith without love is dead. What does Christ say to we must do if we love Him?
Jn 14:15, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
Mt 19:16-17, "Now someone approached him and said, "Teacher, WHAT good MUST I DO to gain eternal life?" He answered him, "Why do you ask me about the good? There is only One who is good. if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." During the time of this event Christ had not yet died on the Cross, meaning the New Law had not been instituted yet. Which means the commandments that Christ is referring to is not just "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind... You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Christ is just showing the most important of the commandments, it is not a removal of the past moral commandments that God had laid out. To say it is would be to say that God changed which is to say that God is not perfect which is false. God does not change and is perfect. If your worldview conflicts with so much Scripture and with God Himself being perfect then you have to realize your worldview is false.

My friend, the vast majority of these verses are saying that faith cannot be seen by the rest of the body of Christ. Good works are the fruit of the Christian, and if you claim to have faith but do not perform good works, then do you really have faith? It is what justifies us as Christians, in the sense that we are set apart from the unbelievers and continue the good works of Jesus. However, in saying that my good works are what has given me salvation, you are not giving Jesus and Grace the full credit it deserves.
Was the thief on the cross saved through works?
John 3:16 declares salvation is given to “Whoever believes in him”. Acts 16:31 say “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved”. Galatians 2:16 says “Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.”
Who is the audience in James 2? He is writing to scattered Christians who have idle faith and not showing their faith through good works. This chapter does not argue that good works are what save us. He is saying that you should not have faith alone and yet be stagnant with good works. Because faith without works is dead. We must not reduce faith to mere intellectual assent. We demonstrate our faith by what we do for those around us. Our faith should not be invisible.(James 2:18).
Nobody is saying not to do good works. We’re simply saying that our good works are not what save us. Only believing in Jesus does that. Our good works are the product of our faith and appreciation for Jesus, as well as our obedience to God. First we are saved by faith, then the fruits of righteousness follows. And that does not contradict scripture at all.
And remember, the only truth that should be followed is the law of the word. Not the traditions of churches or even the words of priest, but the word of God alone. Do your own research in the word, pray about it, and I’ll be praying for you too. I love you, brother, and God bless you!

I am a Catholic and I went through this too.
Emotions and personal beliefs only work for what the person believes of his religion, not what it actually is, and so it’s going to sound weak when attacking a point that is not fully understood by even the audience.
Trent Horn is someone I would say should be a better candidate.

A Christian tries to convert a Christian?
I am a Catholic that believes we are not saved by our own works, but I can still be a Catholic (part of Christs original church).
Yes, the original FORMATION of The Church! And if MAN WITHIN the original Catholic formation of the church fails to get the doctrines 100% right over the span of 2,000 years, am I gonna abandon the original formation of Christs church? No!
The gentleman in the video speaks as if all Protestants follow the exact same doctrines as each other.
I see this Catholic criticism all the time, BUT THEN ironically I see that Protestants have just as much disagreements amongst each other as they do towards Catholics… and if that isn’t mentioned then it shouldn’t be mentioned to Catholics, why? BECAUSE WE ARE ALL IN CHRIST.
Although I believe we are saved by CHRIST ALONE and not saved by sacraments, If some Catholics would like to go the extra mile, (confession, sacraments, etc) without trusting that for salvation instead of Christ, why should it call for Protestants to act like they are any less Christian? & vice versa. Does this not cause division?

Catholicism isn't a lie, it's a theology based on exegesis of the Bible and philosophy/theology that's been strengthened over thousands of years since Jesus Christ established the church in the first century.
I know a lot of Protestants and others, even Catholics themselves, often misunderstand and simply judge Catholicism without understanding. I used to be like that too, actually, but after spending the past year and a half learning about different Christian theology, it's become quite clear to me Catholicism isn't evil, it isn't a lie, and it isn't wrong. I can't pretend to know what God thinks of all the Christian denominations, but I certainly don't think he feels Protestants are better than Catholics or vice versa. I think he's very well aware that we're all doing our best to figure it out and live according to his laws and accept the glory and grace of Jesus as our saving sacrifice.

This was my background and I remember hearing the gospel for the first time after catholism and even after going to adult classes for confirmation, which I didn't do when I was younger, so when God called me to search for him and I wasnt sure what that even meant, I realized I didn't complete my catholic duties of being confirmed. It was through the those classes that I questioned what they interpreted of certain texts we were to go through. Every time I questioned the priest about something that didn't make sense, I was assured I was wrong. But I realized something else was off when a few others said they thought the same thing. I thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to find him and what he truly did for us on that cross at Calvary and not what I was told growing up. I never did feel good enough, so I just did whatever I felt, because it wasn't ever good enough. What a burden that was. Thank you Jesus for the redemption of taking all of my sins, both past and future. So I can proclaim your name and live in your grace by my faith and trust in you and you alone.

@@GodHelpUsNow777 In fact, even before Christ the Jewish people recognized that there could be such a need and believed that the prayers of those still living could aid in that cleansing. In the Second Book of Maccabees (12:39-46), Judas Maccabeus prays for his fallen comrades who had died in battle while wearing amulets dedicated to pagan idols.
That Old Testament passage tells us that Judas turned to prayer as an expiatory sacrifice and “thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be absolved from their sin” - showing his belief that the deceased could still be helped by the intercession of the living.
In the New Testament, arguably the clearest reference to purgatory comes in Matthew’s Gospel (12:32), where Jesus states that “whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come” - implying that there are at least some sins that can be forgiven in the next life.
Such scriptural references leads to the church’s belief, stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, that “all who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven” (No. 1030).

    • @vd1657
      @vd1657 3 месяца назад +14

@itstoasty7089 nope because respectfully you’re misinformed about our beliefs. We believe we are saved & justified because of what Jesus did on the cross. We also acknowledge that we may still have minor faults, weak consciences, underdeveloped wills, impure hearts that need refining, etc. And we truly believe when Revelation says nothing unclean will enter the presence of God in Heaven. So we are saved but still not completely pure. This is where purgatory comes in, it’s a purification process not a saving process. Even our Jew ancestors prayed & made sacrifices for the dead, why would they need to do that if the dead souls were in heaven or hell already ?
And Yes, we believe purgatory is mentioned in the Bible (2 Timothy 1:18, Matthew 12:32, Luke 23:43, 1 Corinthians 3:11-3:15 and Hebrews 12:29). Hope that helps 🩷

    • @itstoasty7089
      @itstoasty7089 3 месяца назад

@@vd1657 The testing of fire has to do with God’s judgement, not a state of limbo to be cleansed. Purgatory is not judgement, and in none of these verses the word or place even mentioned.
Jesus paid the eternal debt of sin for all humanity. To say that we have to be cleansed of a bit of unrighteousness is to say that Jesus wasn’t perfect enough to clean us of ALL our sin. You’re doubting the work of the savior, did you know that? To say that purgatory exists to clean the bit of unrighteousness is to contradict the work of Christ, did you know? And the bible has no contradictions!
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ and verse 9.
The sad thing about catholicism is that salvation is works based. Saying you have enough faith in Jesus makes you liable for salvation. However, putting your complete trust in Him and what he did is what truly saves you. All fruit that bears from putting your complete trust in Jesus results from thanksgiving and love for God because of what he did for us. Do you see my friend? Isn’t that wonderful?

    • @vd1657
      @vd1657 3 месяца назад +7

@itstoasty7089 Perhaps I did a bad job at explaining myself. We also don’t believe purgatory is a place limbo or judgement. Simply a place to purify ourselves. A priest explained it as ‘imagine a good Christian man back in the 1700s, he loved God & tried to live a Christian life but he had slaves as that was normal back then, he needs to be purified before getting into heaven as thinking owning another human is wrong, however he’s still saved in going to heaven because of his faith’
No I don’t doubt my savior. I love him so much I want to give him my everything & I want to be his bride & become a nun. 🩷
My brother or sister to say I’m doubting my savior or contradicting the Bible is simply not true. These are beliefs that have existed since the early church/christians. Something I noticed about protestants is how they don’t submit to authority, and began to trust their own beliefs. This is why I left the Protestant church. all the Protestant churches claim to be lead by the Holy Spirit, why are there so many different Protestant churches then? Why is the Holy Spirit telling Protestants a lot of different things? See my brother/sister I know I’m so unwise to trust my own interpretation. I seek guidance from the Church that has been here for 2000 years & has remained unchanged.

The catholic church is saying “Oh yeah Jesus paid for your sins, but you’re not 100% clean. Go to purgatory and you’ll have to finish up getting cleaned”
Now I ask you this: Did Jesus die for all of your sins or did he die for a few of them? Don’t ask the priest, go straight to the bible and ask yourself my friend. I say this with so much love and patience I can express through text.
