I live just outside of Roanoke and never knew they had a pinball museum. I recognize a lot of the places in this video as I ride them just about everyday. You camped behind the old Green Hill Sausage plant in Elliston.
@dirtymotorcyclevagond Joe, the next comment is good one also, I carry a hammock as well. Walmart has nylon fish net ones no bigger than a softball. Still here on Alamogordo, NM. dealing with the big C but am trying to get well enough so I can go to Baja for the winter. Good luck and God bless you 🙏.
I got the biggest laugh when I found this - I've lived in Blacksburg 22 years and was raised in Martinsville and recognized just about every place you traveled! I recognized where you camped and thought of a bunch of other places but then it's easier when you know the area, which was not quite what you were shooting for. Fun video!
the struggle to find a descent place to camp is part of this damn research for freedom and cheap life. but its so good when at the end you find a place to sleep... cheers buddy
FunHouse just to the right of The Adams Family was my favorite where I worked as a dishwasher at a local seafood joint in the early nineties. My first regular job at $4.25/hour when I turned 16. They had it at the pinball museum in Las Vegas too. Excellent video as usual Joe!
Yes joe im really digging the music great touch...after eating those nuts the bear likely put up and sleep next to you . I sent you couple PM. im thinking about throwing a tent up out back ...thank you ...I've been to blacksburg to pick up a cargo trailer for the company i worked for....peace
I've never good at pinball but i've always enjoyed them and found them internesting. I'm sure all those old places like that seemed to have something going on to help keep business afloat back in the day. Hate it's not really open anymore as i'm sure those walls sure could tell some stories.
I was one of those nuts that would drive to the Italian restaurant in the hills. I lived in Salem at the time. We would use that road to get to VA Tech football games. I've since moved to Richmond but for a change of pace took that road once again after a Hokie game!
Back in 2014 I stealth camped behind the old abandoned warehouse in Bangor Maine on my US tour On PCX 125 I could hear the planes. I think I was near International airport Got up at 4 o’clock cooked ramen in the dark
Did you check the area across from Lancers (former)? Seems from the road, there could be some possibilities. Daleville? I have lived in NRV for 25 years and knew nothing of the pinball museum! Thanks for that.
I can't believe you ended up camping behind the old meat packing plant. That place is a massive bio-hazard. Try looking behind the fire department across the road next time. 😄
We just moved back home to Austintown Ohio 3 years ago after living in the Roanoke area for 20 yrs. Used to love the blue ridge parkway. I was in upper management with Eagle Truck Wash chain. That roundabout you where in is right out front of where the Troutville location used to be. There uses to be a Ta truckstop there to but the city forced them out. Anyway I enjoy the vids.
Debating about giving stealth camping a try. Gonna ride 1,000 miles to TX from SC in a few weeks. Don't want bedbugs and campsites are getting a little too expensive to just sleep on the ground.
I never knew what scabies were until I got them at a "nice" hotel. I sleep in my car on long trips now, and if I have to stay at a hotel ... Permethrin on sheets and pillows.
From mass. Went on a road trip to Saint Louis then soloed to Ocala & back up to bean town, To save money i would hit a truck stop, go to the drivers lounge sit in the corner with ear plugs tip my hat and get some shut eye. The rest is history.
I wish I would have known about the pinball Museum when I passed through Roanoke Virginia. I ended up staying in Jefferson National Forest. Up the hill from Roaring Run Furnace. The bugs ate me alive up there. Thanks, Joe.
I got yelled at too when I was trying to stealth camp behind the closed and fenced building In the middle of Bend Oregon 2014 I was going around the country on 2011 Honda PCX 125 There was a gap in the fence just wide enough to clear my side cases I went to the back 2 guys standing there yelling at me got out of there ended up in RV park
Ha, you’re missing being out there already. Home life: take the garbage out….take the dog out…cut the grass….hey, can you help me (fill in the blank) Ride safe Joe.
Hey Joe we have much in common. Pizza making, riding and videos. Searching for a place not to be found is outlaw behavior. Hahaha thanks for the armchair adventure.
Thanks for the new video. I'll put that pinball museum on the list for the next trip north. Bobby83060 is right, a hammock between thoes 2 trees would have been nice. I will have to show you the one with the mosquito net. Jay p.s. please tell me where to get the bear spray....
Made my own pinball machine when I was a kid, even had electric & tilt! Seems like too much riding to find a spot. I just search as I go or ask a local.
Man dude I love your videos, you have a great attitude and the videos are entertaining and informative. Hope I get to meet up with you somewhere sometime !
Joe, love your work. dont know how to make contact as i am tech challenged. Let me know if your ever around Fort Wayne In. I have woods you can use or a extra place you could rest up for a week.
So what do you have with the rotisserie chicken to fill you up? Chicken is a bit dry and find it less satisfying then something with a bit more fat in it like a burger.
Love that museum, those things were works of art, its good to see somewhere trying to save some of those machines. Great tips. I like this, "stealth camping" idea, beats paying for a campsite and listening to ur neibor rail his ugly wife.... lol dont ask how i know😂
To me thats way too stressful not knowing where you're going to camp for the night. I'm all for camping but it seem like you can waste too much time finding stealth spots. I guess I'm just too old for that stuff lol
Covid did the same thing here in rural West Virginia. It literally killed mom and pop’s setup’s so sad these kind of places are unfortunately probably gone forever
LESSON LEARNED. ALWAYS LOOK UP.
You got that right! ✌️
I would have set up on that closed up bridge. Sometimes if you are hiding makes you look worse
Good music after truck stop
Thanks man 👍
Well that was fun the 🐻 bear was a treat I bet you could have shared that chicken with him and had some great dinner footage
Awesome video and awesome content Thanks Joe
Very welcome
I live just outside of Roanoke and never knew they had a pinball museum. I recognize a lot of the places in this video as I ride them just about everyday. You camped behind the old Green Hill Sausage plant in Elliston.
Haha cool 😎
As usual, good stuff.
Thanks again!
🤘😎🤘
Glad you gave way to that big black bear, great video as always FORGET ABOUT IT, love your content Joe👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Lmao 🤣 thanks bro ✌️
It's quite a bit easier to find a place to stealth cam on a bicycle!! Human power!!! 🇺🇸🌎🚴🇺🇸 😎👍
No doubt
👊
Man im watching you old videos 😮
Thanks man! Haha!
The pinball machines and the bear made it worth it all. Be safe bro 👍😆
✌️
Entertaining as always , thanks Joe
You bet 😎
Joe, I carry a roll of pink surveyer tape to mark camping spots, so I can find them at night also.
Good idea 💡
@dirtymotorcyclevagond Joe, the next comment is good one also, I carry a hammock as well. Walmart has nylon fish net ones no bigger than a softball. I hope you kick the big C in the ass.
I just found a great spot in Alamogordo, probably gonna hang here for a few.

Thanks!
Thanks for taking us along. We need all the help we can get. Dios le bediga amigo!
No hay problema señor!
Outside of Fremont Ohio, Wolf Creek Campground, free camping along the Sandusky River, route 53 between Fremont and Tiffin
It doesn't appear to be free anymore.
There's a website but I can't post it. My comment gets deleted because of my RUclips settings.
👍
That bear was awesome. I carry a Hammock, opens up alot more options. Ride safe!
Right on!
Joe, did you ever think about carrying a hammock for those stealth areas that don't offer the right ground conditions?
I was just going to say I love my screened hammock for tough spots.
$25 Amazon 👍
I’ve thought about it, but at the end of the day it’s just one more thing to carry
the struggle to find a descent place to camp is part of this damn research for freedom and cheap life. but its so good when at the end you find a place to sleep... cheers buddy
Well said. Cheers to you my brother ✌️
The Roanoke Pinball Museum is one of my favorite places in the city
Absolutely! ✌️
Hey - I made pizza in Italian restaurants on Long Island when I was a kid! Cool pinball museum 👍
That’s awesome! ✌️
Great music!🎻🪗
Thanks! Yes it was
Come through Asheville/trashville NC just pull up and sleep on the sidewalk. Interesting video bro
Thanks 😊
Sounded like some genuine hillbilly fiddle in there after the Italian restaurant 🎻🤠
I don't think that bear would have caused any trouble. If they come by during the night just bark like a dog. A hound dog! ....Excellent cool video 😎
Thank you very much 😅
If... For some reason, you find yourself in Las Vegas. Look up the pinball museum there.. in a word; "Worth It"
Awesome 🤩
It will be easy to find camping spots on my mountain Joe just ride up my dirt road and pick a spot with a nice view
Star City!! I LOVE VA man!! ✨🩷🤎
❤️💯

That's a great machine!
Being from NJ, I wouldn't have thought VA camping would be a problem.
Perception can be a funny thing.
Some places will surprise ya. Others are too easy
I grew up in Blacksburg 👍
Awesome! ✌️

Definitely worth checking out ✌️
I can't believe you ended up camping behind the old meat packing plant. That place is a massive bio-hazard. Try looking behind the fire department across the road next time. 😄
Loved the Pinball Museum. I'd spend all day in there for sure. Nice tutorial on finding a good spot.
Thanks Gary 😎
It’s a must see!
Always yield to pedestrians and black bears :) If I was looking to stealth camp around Roanoke I think I would look off the Blueridge pkwy.
That’s not a bad idea 😊
I was surprised about the bear. They must have some really hard teeth and a helluva bite to crack walnuts.
I’d imagine so. Likely sharp as well

Hey brother awesome video, can’t wait to see you at forgotten angels in a few weeks.
I’ll be at Biketoberfest, but can’t make it to the fall F.A.
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond dang that stinks. Hopefully I see you in march then!
Debating about giving stealth camping a try. Gonna ride 1,000 miles to TX from SC in a few weeks. Don't want bedbugs and campsites are getting a little too expensive to just sleep on the ground.
Never had bedbugs 🤷🏼♂️ then again I use my own mattress lol

I’ve done that too lol
Very good Joe. I bet you could tell some stories from the Italian Restaurant that would curl hair. Lol
Oh yeah 😅
Roanoke that’s where my works headquarters is. Everyone call’s it Blue Hills.
👍
I wish I would have known about the pinball Museum when I passed through Roanoke Virginia. I ended up staying in Jefferson National Forest. Up the hill from Roaring Run Furnace. The bugs ate me alive up there. Thanks, Joe.
Definitely worth a stop!!
You know where I am if you need a place to stay for awhile on your way to Florida!
Thanks man. Storing the bike at home while my boss flies me out to FLA. Then coming back and going to the Philippines
I got yelled at too when I was trying to stealth camp behind the closed and fenced building
In the middle of Bend Oregon
2014 I was going around the country on 2011 Honda PCX 125
There was a gap in the fence just wide enough to clear my side cases

It happens 🤣
Ha, you’re missing being out there already. Home life: take the garbage out….take the dog out…cut the grass….hey, can you help me (fill in the blank) Ride safe Joe.
Lmao 🤣 shockingly accurate assessment
Hey Joe we have much in common. Pizza making, riding and videos. Searching for a place not to be found is outlaw behavior. Hahaha thanks for the armchair adventure.
That is awesome! No problem 😎
If you’re ever in need of a place in Gettysburg pa You can find a spot on the farm I live on
Right on brother
Thanks for the new video. I'll put that pinball museum on the list for the next trip north. Bobby83060 is right, a hammock between thoes 2 trees would have been nice. I will have to show you the one with the mosquito net. Jay p.s. please tell me where to get the bear spray....
Definitely brother! I bought mine in Montana. You can probably pick it up at most camping stores
Can't believe that a bear in a tree :)
How many hours in average to you spend looking for a spot to crash ? 30min, 1h, 2h or MORE ???
Sometimes I find one right away, other times it takes all day 😎
Boy you bearly got out of that one spot... your neighbor in the tree might of been a problem lol
Lmao 🤣
Made my own pinball machine when I was a kid, even had electric & tilt! Seems like too much riding to find a spot. I just search as I go or ask a local.

Joe, love your work. dont know how to make contact as i am tech challenged. Let me know if your ever around Fort Wayne In. I have woods you can use or a extra place you could rest up for a week.
Thanks brother! ✌️
The homeless sure don't have a problem finding camping spots all over the city.
They're not as picky I guess 🤣
Have you ever considered Rt 220 north of Roanoke?
That’s a good road
So what do you have with the rotisserie chicken to fill you up? Chicken is a bit dry and find it less satisfying then something with a bit more fat in it like a burger.
It’s about the cheapest way to eat out here. Around 8 bucks, and it’ll last me all day. Good for you as well
If you’re in Michigan, Ann Arbor area, you’re welcome to set up In my backyard, I’ve got an acre and you’re welcome anytime.
I’ll remember that!! 😎
What was the lady saying to you lol it would have been awesome if you stopped to talk to her
"Hey can I camp here"
-Que banjos 😁😵💫
🤣
Bears there and so how on the trees?!
They’re amazingly agile!

That was a difficult one. Usually they came along pretty easy
When are you leaving for the Philippines
Oct 26
Sweet I'm booking for thialand in November. Legal weed
When you’re riding back to Mexico?
Not sure… maybe next winter
Looks like a filming site for the Walking Dead. lol.
🤣
Aka home!
Have you ever asked a home owner, with acreage, permission to stay the night in their yard?
Not too much in the US. All the time in Mexico and Guatemala.
I bet you’re subs would let u camp in there yard if one was close by and you couldn’t find a spot. I would if u are ever near me. Just an idea.
Absolutely! I’ve met and stayed with several. But I also like keeping my skills sharp and looking for these types of places
go to Craig county
Hostile people roads that are closed and the bear. Damn what else?
Okay Virginia looks like a bad place to camp because of all the people yelling at you and the white car.
Lol 😂 nah, I just got lucky that day
Why do you not just ask a home owner if you can pitch a tent for the night?
They didn't sound too friendly 😁
I’ve done it on occasion, while in Mexico. Most in the US are too concerned about privacy
Loud pipes not good for stealth camping.
Nope lol
Covid did the same thing here in rural West Virginia. It literally killed mom and pop’s setup’s so sad these kind of places are unfortunately probably gone forever
Yup 👍
