Have you ever noticed that in "Push Me, Pull You", Skarloey has giant pupils? Clearly, he's been sedated in order to film this episode. In fact, him being sedated probably explains all of his out-of-character moments in the HIT era.
Anyways, I said this in the last Season 12 video, but I'll say it again. Rest in peace, Stepney. Covered in pink sugar and never seen again. Lest we forget.

Most hit-era characters share a formula where they have so much potential and are well designed... but they're only used for merchandising purposes. I really loved Hank and was sad that he never returned after Season 12
I know HiT is a toy company, but even if it's for toys, they could have at least made the most out of the characters so that kids are willing to buy said merch.

I loved S12. The CGI looked good for its time and it was unique in blending the model and CGI faces.
For me, Push Me Pull You had a bit of potential. If the crew had made that runaway where Skarloey crashes into things but didn’t make him stop and ruin the pacing, I think I would’ve liked it a lot more. Skarloey & Rheneas being out of character is nothing surprising so it didn’t really bother me upon watching it but they just had to ruin the climax of that episode didn’t they?
My least favourite episode is Henry Gets It Wrong because it’s a plot we already saw in Henry & The Flagpole but instead of Henry trying to fix the situation, the guy just blocks the Main Line, like excuse me? That’s just outright destructive and a very dangerous move! That’s some serious mischaracterisation there! It is kinda sweet but so was Henry & The Flagpole and that didn’t threaten countless lives. Also, three strikes formula cos yes 👍🏻
My favourite episode of the season is James Works It Out, obviously. James episodes in the Hit Era are kinda overlooked which is sad cos most of them are good 👍🏻
Also, Toby’s Special Surprise fits into my theory that the Hit Era is a TV Show, or at least a completely different canon. Toby claims he’s never found anything and so therefore, isn’t special. The tram found a castle and a mine 6 seasons beforehand. So there’s either some really wacky timeline or they are separate canons? 🤷🏼♂️
I think Push Me Pull You could’ve been a little better if Freddie was in it.
Great job! Your Season 12 video was one of my favorites and I'm glad you gave it a fresh update. I keep going back to rewatch James Works It Out and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Maybe because I have a die hard Thomas fan as a friend at school and he loves Hector. Who knows.

James Works It Out is my favourite of S12 especially due to the fact of it being the 300th episode

Here's why I think out-of-character moments in Thomas and Friends matter: the thing is, this show (and other, similar kids shows) is a bit like a sitcom. In a sitcom, the characters don't develop or change personalities; instead, the episode is about their in-character reactions to situations. Thomas is just like that.
For example, if you were watching The Office (UK) and David Brent suddenly became a confident ladies man, that would be jarring as all hell and that's why things like Skarloey and Rheneas behaving so stupidly are so jarring - this type of TV show works best when characters are consistent.
Of course, it's just a show (albeit an amazing one!!) but I believe that episodes like Push Me, Pull You represent bad writing that actively harm the show's mythos and make it far, far less coherent.
I think the bigger issue that worsens that are when characters are blatantly like that either for the sake of the plot or because of some stupid mandates the higher-ups demand. And that's how we get infantile Skarloey (90% of his HiT era appearances), asshole Edward (Edward Strikes Out), cowardly Henry/Toby (later Brenner era for Henry, most of the CGI era for Toby), or braindead Thomas (Almost all his major appearances in the Miller era).
For me it's okay if their personalities develop or change over time but if they suddenly develop or change between episodes (as in the example you gave) it's more than just jarring it's extremely frustratingly bad 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎
After watching this, I *IMMEDIATELY* watched Push Me, Pull You.
Seven minutes of pure joy.
It clearly wasn’t intentional since the writers of the HiT era don’t care about Seasons 1-7 because not once do they mention past events in Seasons 1-7 in Seasons 8-12
My theory is that Edward was tortured through watching post movie spongebob for a week in the production of season 12

James works it out: Hector was wonderful and has great arc .James and Hector Dynamic was great

I actually lump Season 12 in with the Miller Era, as she was head writer of this season. I consider the HiT era Seasons 8-11
It's certainly a grey area. I think Season 12 can either be considered a really bad HiT season or a decent Miller season. Your view of the season depends on where you place it.

I was more referring to Peter Sam's dialogue with the other NG engines, feels very formulaic and three strikes-y. Still, the episode's not terrible.

Great video! Season 12 is a weird one for me. It feels so much like the miller era with the writing however with no voice cast, music and model work feels like the previous 4 seasons. Do you consider this apart of the miller era or the hit era?

As much as I’m not fond of this season, 3 episodes were great:
- _Excellent Emily_
- _James Works it Out_
- _Gordon Takes a Shortcut_
"James Works It Out" and "Gordon Takes A Shortcut" are decent but the same can't be for "Excellent Emily"
This may tick a lot of people off, but Push Me, Pull You is my favorite episode this season.
Note: If you dislike this episode, that's very fine, but please respect my opinion and I will respect yours.
My thoughts on this wildly mixed bag of a season:
Thomas and the Billboard: 6/10 Repetitive but enjoyable and reasonably interesting.
Steady Eddie: 4/10 Not only is it boring, but Edward is far too out-of-character.
Rosie's Funfair Special: 7/10 Very silly, but very fun.
Mountain Marvel: 6/10 A more inventive and interesting three-strikes story than normal, but still a three-strikes story.
Henry Gets It Wrong: 6/10 Inoffensive fluff.
Heave Ho Thomas!: 4/10 Tedious heavy loads moral episode number.... 100? It feels like that anyway! Hank is cool though.
Toby's Special Surprise: 3/10 Man... this is so freaking boring!
Excellent Emily: 8/10 It doesn't make that much sense, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun and brings back many great characters too.
The Party Surprise: 5/10 Pretty tedious, but perfectly sweet.
Saved You: 3/10 This brings back all those great characters only to strand them in one of the stupidest episodes ever. A fireman would not get a medal for saving a cat from a tree!!
Duncan and the Hot-Air Balloon: 4/10 Very stupid, if occasionally inventive.
James Works It Out: 5/10 Completely typical stuff, but Hector raises it up a bit.
Tram Trouble: 0/10 I can't think about this one without cringing. So boring, so repetitive, so formulaic... AAAHHHH!!!
Don't Go Back: 6/10 Sure, I know it's ridiculous but I still find it quite fun.
Gordon Takes A Shortcut: 9/10 My favourite pre-Brenner HIT episode.
The Man in the Hills: 4/10 Great ending, weak episode.
Thomas Puts the Brakes On: 7/10 Perfectly decent, though very repetitive.
Percy and the Bandstand: 6/10 Well... it's better than many other similar episodes and Lady Hatt is less infuriating than normal.
Push Me, Pull You: 3/10 Well, this video sums it up nicely! Some fun accidents aside this episode is a monument to bad writing.
Best Friends: 5/10 Kind-of cute, but not that good.

In my opinion I would give "Best Friends" a 8,000,000/10 and "Excellent Emily" a 0.00000000001/10
"James Works It Out" would go second for me under "Best Friends" My reason:I enjoy episodes involving Thomas and Percy more than any other character, but if my opinion changes I might rank "James Works It Out" higher
My favorite episodes are James works it out, Mountain Marvel, Excellent Emily and I actually like Steady Eddie. I personally don't mind if Edward was a bit prideful and the music in the final chase is one of my favorites in the New Series.

Season 12 is my least favorite of the model era but has moments.
"Push Me, Pull You!" would have been a good episode if Bill and Ben had the role instead of mischaracterizing Skarloey and Rheneas. Words cannot describe how abysmal this episode is. Oh, and with "The Man in the Hills", I find that episode having the three strikes part inaccurate because last time I checked, that episode only used two strikes instead of the typical three.
I agree on that, but what if it was Thomas and Percy instead of Skarloey and Rheneas?

thomas isn't really acting stupid in "saved you", as in the incidents with duck and toby he sees his friends in danger and acts immediately to try and save them, but then discovers a piece of information that reveals that they weren't in trouble, which he couldn't have known before, he is acting quickly in a time sensitive emergency, and choosing his actions with all the information about the situation that he has available. with the fallen tree on the line, all he does is see an obstruction on the line, and then tells the singalman about the obstruction on the line, how is that him acting stupid?
I agree 👍🏼 If I saw a water tower that looked like it was about to fall on someone I would tell the other person to move, if I saw someone seemingly about to bump into someone else who couldn't move I would move the person who was seemingly about to be bumped into and if I saw a tree on the line I would tell the signalman to change the points

Thomas and the billboard Meh: Thomas is trying to replace the old one after an accident
Steady Eddie Good: I think Edward showing off is decent
Rosie's carnival special Good: Rosie got her karma for not being Emily's back engine as least Emily wasn't flanderized
Mountain Marvel Good: good sequel to the magic lamp
Henry gets it wrong Scumas: started the downfall of Henry's popularity
Heave ho Thomas Good: Hank was a good character wish he appeared More
Toby's special surprise Meh: slightly boring but Toby isn't flanderized
Excellent Emily Meh: not Scumas but still meh
The party surprise Meh: why didn't Mr Percival see the supplies for the party
Saved you Scumas: completely ruined Thomas's popularity
Duncan and the hot air balloon Good: the narrow gauge version of James and the red balloon
James works it out Good: glad to see Hector again
Tram trouble Meh: wish Flora appear more often
Don't go back Scumas: Thomas and Diesel acted like kids
Gordon takes a shortcut Good: Gordon saving Stanley was heroic
The man in the Hills Scumas: Sir Handel's line explains how awful this episode is
Thomas puts the brakes on Good: the crash at the bridge was amazing
Percy and the bandstand the dynamic between Percy and lady hatt is well done
Push me pull you Scumas: what was Miller even thinking
Best friends Good: good to see Thomas swapping jobs with Percy

I admit I have nostalgia for Series 12. Yes I get the dated ugly cgi, and the poor writing, but I remember it fondly personally. Hank is one of my favorite characters being an American.

If you have make a list with all the problems, plotholes and inconsistencies with Push Me Pull You, you have probably the biggest list for any model episode

Probably not. It's not exactly a super interesting season, it was slightly better than 13-15 but still poor.

This season is definitely a bad one, the hybrid animation is interesting, but the writing is terrible. The only episode I think I enjoy is Heave Ho Thomas.
None of the new characters appear again (although Hank is the only one I would want to see return) and it was a sign of what was coming.
I'm not sure why I think this, but I think Steady Eddie would of been better with Oliver or Stepney.

UUUUHHH!
This season is mostly dreadful. While it does have some good stories like Heave Ho Thomas, Gordon Takes a Shortcut, James Works It Out, Percy and the Bandstand and Best Friends, there are some episodes that are literally some of the worst of the model series (like Saved You and Push Me, Pull You). Angelis was alright. But this season was probably his weakest season. The same can't be said about Brandon. He was terrible all the way.
And while it was good to see characters like Duck, Oliver and Toad come back, that does not excuse the horrifying blend of models and CGI. Well, okay. The face renders of Thomas, Percy, James, Hank and Hector were alright. But the rest of the faces were either mediocre or freaky as fuck!
I cannot express how much I hate this season! This season can rot in hell for all I care!

Season 12 is an interesting season. Episodes are bad, but I like the cgi work. It’s a visually good season, but bad season episode wise. Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, seasons 12 is just a season I kinda avoid talking about because I am not a fan of the hybrid, and most of all the episodes suck, but there is some decent episode in here, my personal favorite is honestly Gordan takes a shortcut.

I think season 12 is SO SO unbelievable boring because half of the episodes are just stupid 3 strikes.Roise’s carnival special roise makes a mistake three times. Nice video overall! To be honest I can't give much advice other than to stick at it and keep going!
One thing: you took a while to actually get to the review of the episode. TheS10 review section wasn't bad per se, but I think you should have made the video EITHER an S10 review OR a James the Second Best review. Try and make a clear direction for the video to follow, get to it quickly, and stick with it.
Even that's fairly minor though, you show much promise!
Tbh I don't find the animation creepy, but the later season writing got worse and worse

Because Gordon was being a prick similar to how James was being a complete idiot in Apology Impossible. The latter both 0/10 (especially for A.I. which is a big time and required 0/10 for that episode).
