Thomas’s music will go down as one of the best in a childrens show . Thomas’s theme and all the songs they made were always a hit
The score for this episode goes so hard and does not let up. It's easily one of my favorites. The episode just wouldn't be as atmospheric or tense without it.
The episode also sums up Percy and Toby's respect for each other. Percy often gets beat-down by things and Toby having seen it all is kind of a relief to him; other episodes of Season 5 show this in effect and it had been built up on in the seasons prior, so to see the extent of Toby's selflessness demonstrated here and Percy's rooted concerns for him in effect brings another stellar point to 'Toby and the Flood'. It's symbolic too because never again is this brought up on as a focal point in the series, as Percy's relationship with Thomas was prioritised. Regards, Samuel Farris.
@@samuelfarris1949 Perhaps the CGI Brenner era could have created episodes around Percy and Toby's friendship in them sometimes. At least they still interacted in Hit era and the CGI eras.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 I actually realise there was one Season 9 episode where Toby and Percy's dynamic was shown more or less true to form, along with how Toby responded to a character who acted high and mighty. I don't remember the title but I do know it revolved around Emily.

When I watched the episode for the first time, I was so frightened and I got so afraid for Toby. Like: Oh God the dam breaks. Toby get away from there!!! 😂
I can't be the only one who's addicted to Mike's remastered tracks for *The Engine Themes* CD Series. 🎼🥰
Mike and Junior had no business making the score of this episode so cinematic and spine-tingling as it is. But they did it and I love it. This is my favorite episode not just from season 5, but the entire show. I listen to the danger theme of this episode every now and then on my headphones and it still to this day gives me the shivers. Even when I was a little kid, I knew that’s what made great.

Mike and Junior were geniuses behind the music of Thomas. They composed songs, themes, that are so catchy, and they did a great job not playing them down to children. They also composed themes from stuff that sounded like it was out of a movie or a TV special, examples being Toby and the Flood & A Friend in Need. The other composers don't do much, but these two were music bangers. The score is definitely one of my favorites and one of the amazing things that make The Classic Series the blue chip.
The original theme song of TTTE is unmatchable
I always loved the thomas the tank engine theme song, its so rememberable and recognisable
Select episodes of the classic series had such stellar unique scores made for them, Escape being my personal favorite out of them all. I was always wowed by the triumphant theme going off as soon as Douglas begins to pull Oliver to safety as a kid, and still adore that theme as an adult in their late 20's.

The thing about classic Thomas for me is the model scenery like the water the quaint little towns the forests and old ruins the farms just the life it brings to the experience
In this crazy world we live in, hearing the music from the classic era just lets me forgot it all & enjoy the simple things in life.
Thomas' music has always been so special to me. It sends me back to childhood.
I remember first seeing footage of Toby and the Flood on the Trackside Tunes VHS and thought "Woah what?! When did this happen?!... And where can I find this? I gonna see this episode!"
Once again, I think your reactions to the events of the episode were brilliant.
Toby and the Flood is where the insanity of Season 5 really begin.
Fun Fact: The reason Season 5 is so extreme is because the crew had Thomas And the Magic railroad in mind while filming S5, So the wanted to show what Thomas could be on a cinematic scale

Personally I think I'll always remember season 2's music best. Especially when it comes to the runaway/chase music, James, Edward, Toby, and the crane theme from season 1. They were all so good some of my personal favorites.
The music in Thomas is memorable AF; I'm nearly 40, I saw Thomas as a kid in the 80s and early 90s and then didn't see it again for decades but I could still remember so many of the character/situation theme songs.
Sure, when I began watching the show again as an adult, as a totally different person, so much was looked, sounded or felt different but those theme songs remained familiar.
Ahh, nostalgia. Both watching this vid, and the music. I once was playing minecraft. And one of my friends was afk. So me and another friend blasted this masterpiece of a ttte theme when she got back. Didn't talk to us for an hour 😂
So I used to love Thomas's original theme song, but when that all-star theme song hybrid came out, it kinda ruined it for me. I blame my brother, but I still love the classic series. But great video.
I remember watching this when I was 5. The episode petrified me as a kid, now that I’ve rewatched the episode I can appreciate much more then when I was little. God bless this show

This episode legitimately traumatized me as a kid. I had nightmares about waterfalls for days after finding it on a library video tape lol. Such a great one.
I like the Flying Kipper theme. Really sets the mood when I'm pulling away from the warehouse with a full truckload of deliveries.
And I still can't find the upload of ab actual remix to the original theme on the official Thomas RUclips Channel :/

Even as a young kid, I would hum to the themes that popped up, my favorite being Percy's which actually brought in my love for jazz and lead me to listening to stuff like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Squirrel Nut Zippers. I would have never been like I am today without the music to this show, let alone the show itself.

I’m a musician now. I feel that Thomas helped me a lot. Great video on this subject. The first song I ever picked out on a piano was the Thomas theme with my father’s help.
Just goes to show why people didn’t think of classic Thomas as just another stupid kid show; the crew that made the show, didn’t treat it that way.
Mattel can learn a thing or two to retain in CGI Thomas.

Honestly the scariest soundtrack I heard is not even in the show but in fan made spooky Thomas videos. I’m talking about Distant Tension by Kevin Macleod. Try listening to this track at night time and you won’t even move when you’re asleep

Episodes like these might be a bit overwhelming to young children so parents should wait til they’re a little older.
