I wasn't really a fan of Zenkaiger and Donbrothers mainly cuz I wasn't a fan of the comedy aspect of these 2 shows and I missed the time when sentai was serious. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my comedy but I felt the 2 shows had too many jokes. Now Kingohger has the right balance imo. They know when it's time to be serious and the time to sprinkle in some comedy.

This feels better, if Sentai wants to grow, they are really doing it for for king ohger, a great story, interesting plot, amazing mecha, great henshins in my opinion, this is Sentai lowering the tone for crazy down. But is is coming back up with boomboonger?!?!?! I hope the 50th isn't as crazy as season 45-46

Thirty episodes in, I'm fairly certain that King Ohger is a pretty good sentai show. The CGI backgrounds may take a while to get used to but at least Toei is now confident enough to stay consistent with the concept, something that I wished I could say the same about Kamen Rider Saber. Sure, sometimes the set look like some random amusement park with tiny European styled buildings but it's imaginative enough for kids and sad millennials like me to be entertained by. One thing I like is how each kings and sovereign have their own retainers, so it's not that huge of a leap in logic that they don't do a whole lot of governing in the show because they clearly delegate a lot of that stuff save for their specific royal duties to other people. It doesn't really concern me that basically any King Ohger can pick up and control the huge mecha and it adds to this idea that they're all equals as rulers of their lands and they did not start as a solid team right off the bat. The characters are well done and it's great that the story introduces kids to the concept of leadership and even world politics in the simplest and most understandable ways possible. I probably would have liked for Racles to be a more morally ambiguous character than just being a straight up delusional dictator, but we still have quite a lot of episodes left and they should get around to revealing the mystery of his and Gira's past soon enough. If I have to nitpick I think the full mecha combination was super flustercuck and I almost feel bad about the suit actor that had to wear it.

What makes the show worth it for me isn't just the flashy action or world building, but indeed the characters. They feel much more proactive and.... street smart than most Sentai teams. In many series, plot threads will be introduced and left to marinate for several episodes even though the audience, by then, has surely figured the twist out. In King-Ohger's case though, the characters are on the same wavelength as the audience most of the time. The moment there's a possibility that Gira may be an exile, he just says it to Racles' face. That is SO. DAMN. REFRESHING. It frees up the story to move along at a brisk pace, allowing them to accomplish in 26 episodes the amount of story that would usually be padded out over twice as many. We're essentially getting two shorter seasons in one, and we'll just see if the second half plays out as smoothly as the first. King-Ohger is the most I've been engaged with a Sentai since Shinkenger, the only series I consistently watched from beginning to end. I guess King-Ohger just has a similar vibe.

emersion breaking? buddy you are seriously tripling! this season is PEAK SENTAI! way better than donbrothers (donbrothers is mid), not only the story and world building kept me invested in the show but the characters especially the kings are all interesting and complex, with tons of revelations and plot twists that is jaw breaking, from jeramye's story about him been an half human half bugnarak, for himeno's parents, Rita's eye and her secret, and overall there is a lot of things that i love the show for it despite the CGI, and don't forget that all this time the war between humans and bugnarak was made by a new threat that tries to destroy planets for fun, and desnarak is actually a good guy all along, and everything ties together so beautifully
so YES is worth watching the show

    "Is it worth it?"
    Oh fuck yes.
The complexity of running a kingdom presented so well in this series, I often nearly tearing up seeing the kings dilema and sacrifice they've done to make their people okay...

That’s fair! I think the challenge they have sometimes is presenting the complexity and properly executing- in my opinion at least! Again, I really do commend the series for attempting this ambitious concept!

@@KingZoru_VT Agree, this series isn't perfect, there is not much we know about the backstory of each kings or the kingdoms in general. I often drop sentai series in about 10-15 episodes, but this series makes me empathy to each king, I nearly cried a couple times during the series when I see the character development to each king. The last time sentai series able to make me cry was Kyoryuger and ToQGer...
And also, the timeskip and the new villains introduced to this series was a good touch, although I think the new villains was way too powerful, I mean the power to destroy a universe? Dude, the kings was just a mere human, what can they do to fight those monsters. I'm looking forward to it...

  • @NickonPlanetRipple

Eh. I felt each ranger being able to pilot King Ohger was mitigated by it being more powerful the more pilots it has. Only Yanma can make it fly, for instance. King-Ohger only reaches its full might when they're all in it. The trade off then is they have to get over themselves to make it keep working, which is fun given their clashing personalities. The mech itself is a test of their character.

    • @prehistorich7963
      @prehistorich7963 9 месяцев назад +1

also to mention, God King-Ohger specifically needed twenty pilots for all of the Shugods just so they could infiltrate the center of Chikyuu, which further helps the point that more pilots equal more power.
not to mention it is specifically only Gira that can summon King-Ohger by himself, and he's always been branded as something special because of stuff we don't know just yet

I think the show suffers from the fact that it is a Toku show and it also has to appeal to both kids and adults. But it also benefits from the fact that it is a Toku show. Like it only has ~20 mins per ep to tell a story and has to implement the robot fight scene as much as possible (Toku formula and also to appeal to kids). It has to have a cartoon personality Red. It has to cover so much (including story, obligatory product release schedule ads, crossover, etc.) in its concept with so limited time. It definitely has awesome ideas and concept and tries to be mature but simple to kids as the same time.
But on the other hand because it is a Toku show, we got cool fight scene in cool suit. Giant robot fight with 20 mechs combo. A very unique concept but not too weird. A mature enough for adult if they want to dig deeper (and you kinda have to dig deeper) but also simple enough for kids to enjoy. The world building, the first insect theme, the first 20 mechs combine, the first mech to combine with another show officially, the best sixth ranger (designs, mechs, backstory), prob the first time the monster became part of good guys lol. For these reasons alone, this feels like the best sentai in decades.

This is a great summary and analysis of KingOhger! I think you’re absolutely right about the wide range it has to appeal to, so it has to tackle some more mature and sophisticated concepts through the lens of still being a kids show. It’s definitely got its highlights, though- thanks for letting them shine! ☺️

i disagree with a majority said, some of it understandable but not really that big a deal or issue in grand scheme, the green screen/CGI talk is already weird to me when you love donbrothers, the season where everyone raved on how, quite literally, "noticeably" (not good) it is, and at this point in general with Toku, esp Sentai and Rider, it should be accepted and embraced with its own charm and flaws, King ohger is already better than many for simply using it to create a geniune unique world that does in fact, feel believable and livable, just because every nook and cranny isnt explained (esp when it doesnt need to be either) doesnt mean its automatically bad, also funny to me you say "this would be good as a Rider season" when that *already happened* with Saber and it flopped to hell and doesnt compare by a longshot to King Ohger, Spider Kumuno' Henshin is incredible, your taste is just different, i agree the audio of the main henshin is weirdly blurred sometimes but its not as often as you make it sound, overall this vid is more negative packed than anything, esp if you "dropped the show", sorry it didnt hit for you i guess but theres a reason why everyone is praising it even more than donbrothers, its def not a masterpiece but it absolutely is damn good and easily my favorite sentai season

I get it, and honestly I’ve been seeing that it’s been getting a lot of praise so I do aim to give it another go! If there’s one thing I’ll comment on, I’d say that I was able to accept the silly CGI of DonBrothers because it was already framed as a wacky sort of show. Because KingOhger’s vibe was taking itself much more seriously, some of those CGI moments just stood out more to me. I don’t think it’s an awful show by any means, it just wasn’t for me at the time. But I’m glad it’s become your favorite season, and I’ll have to give it another shot soon! ☺️

i honestly gave it 5 episodes and dropped it because i really couldnt get into it...the main 5 felt so...boring to me (this could also be me having a bias towards power rangers and growing up with it) not to mention the mecha felt like there was just too much going on with all the insects on it. another issue i had was that while the red rangers relationship to the king was dropped in during episode 5 it felt kind of...shoehorned in, like they needed a reason to tie the two together. i do agree with the henshin being confusing given that each king hits their respective color first. the CGI background honestly wasnt that jarring to me given that they have so many places to cover so i cant blame them for using CGI, the bugnarok were honestly kinda...meh? they felt like standard every day goons and their motivation to take the shuugods felt very meh as well.
