I’ve been following you for a while and just want to say how good you are in giving a clear explanation while still mentioning important details.
Pretty clever content! Love the list, you caught a few I didn't know about already! Thanks for posting 😊
You are definitely one of a few in always offering worthwhile and truly valuable videos. Thank you! I would be interested in your take on Traktion’s three Dawesome synths: Novum, Abyss, and Kult. They are 50% off now. I currently am trying the Abyss demo. Also, I just bought Kit and Glanta by Fors (30% off). Fors makes some of the very best Max for Live devices. I may still pick up Opal during the sale. Do you know them? I am also considering Hive 2 or Diva. Love them both, just not sure the actual need is there.
Thank you so very much!!! 🥰 Happy Holidays
You haven't really taken "deal rarity" into consideration. I believe Plugin Alliance has this kind of discount every couple of months (maybe weeks even), so it doesn't feel so appealing. Same thing goes with Softube and Korg.
Very informative video Alice . How about Kirchhoff-EQ at 100 euros instead of the fab filter ? many consider this a better eq
Definitely a better choice, for me at least. Plus you'll be able to grab it for like $75 if you wait for a little longer until their monthly vouchers are back.
+1000 on Arturia - there one of the best company in the scene, both software and hardware-wise
I've had Analog Lab Lite (or Intro?) which came bundled with a Presonus interface a few years ago. Then I upgraded to the full version last year for $70.
Then I claimed Tape Mello-Fi and Filter MS20 when they were giving them away for free. And then I was just saving up for the V Collection.
When the BFD upgrades actually came, it was even better. I upgraded to VC9 for $150, then bought Pigments for $50 and the FX Collection for $70 afterwards.
Within one year, I've bought almost all of their software stuffs for a grand total of $340. What a deal!
@@arkarmoethouk2445I am in a similar situation right now, I have analog lab + all the free plugins they offered in the past and now the price to upgrade to v collection is 200 and 69 for pigments, my question is if I buy pigments right now, will the price of the upgrade to v collection get lower?
When getting the licensed version, you can also use Reason as a plugin. :)
Thank you for such a great analysis ❤
Very nice summery, a small world map of todays plugins.
Putting u-he in first place confirms my own impressions. Even the instruments from Arturia including Pigments sound shallow compared to Diva in my ears. Am I the only one feeling this? Or is it just a matter of loudness? I wonder how "shallow" could be measured in terms of frequencies and what is the opposite term of it? Is there any physical foundation to the subjective impression?
How does the MS-20 from Korg compare to the MS-20 from Arturia? (The regular price of Arturia is twice as much as the regular price from Korg)
I dropped all my moolah on the NI collector my dear Alice but I'm sure you won't forget me for Boxing Day when I bank account has been recharged a bit lol xx cheers and Happy Holidays!
Thanks Alice, perfect timing 🙌🏽
Hope you like the list! 😊✌
I like that you mention neural dsp
I just bought the Pro Q 3 thanks to your advice. It would be good for them to know. Greetings
Recently bought Synthmaster 2, Standard Clip and Oxford Inflator. Didn't regret it.
Very helpful video!! Thanks a lot
Thank you for compiling this list! 🥳
Hope it is helpful! 😊✌️
@@Alice-Efe It is, and you need a special centre of the earth tier for those chord pack guys.
this is a weird tossup but should i get soothe or upgrade from ableton standard to suite? im just really indecisive and need someone to give me a straight up answer. thanks
I feel like abelton upgrade would be nice but at the same time I hear that soothe is basically a necessity and i feel like i can get by with standard
Definitely upgrade Ableton Standard to Suite. No plugin should be that much of a necessity on hearsay. Any plugin that’s that necessary only you alone would know through experience. I don’t own Soothe 2 because I don’t need it. You can achieve possibly even better results with a deesser, multi band comp, or dynamic EQ and knowledge of how to use them after listening to the frequencies that need to be tamed. Even the plugin Reso can yield better results than Soothe 2, and it’s much cheaper. I’m not trashing Soothe 2. You just don’t need it. This is the straight up answer.
appreciate you thanks@@isomatic
if you want the v collection get the analog labs pro then upgrade it to the v collection you will get the upgrade for 150 bucks so instead of 300 just for the v collection you get it for 250. I just did this :)
5d Chess move! Well done! 😅😊
Thank you for this tier list. Each year, I blindly treat myself with "the Ton" bundle from Spitfire, very great collection (not that useful for EDM though).
There are nice deals at Audio Imperia's as well but still not dedicated to EDM.
This is the best moment to spend (too much) money on virtual instruments indeed :]
Awesome video! Thanks for this I just got my first Synth UH-E Hive 2 after waiting months lol. Probably going for Pigments also for $69 US with the crossgrade price! Alice, are you familiar with Melda plugins i’ve been really liking their EQ and Analyzer plugins. and the dicounts are always good not as pretty as FabFliter but fit in nicely with Ableton - Big Love!
Both Hive 2 and Pigments are my top synths. Go for it! I havent used Melda that much but I will try to try a bit more.
I’m gonna go for it! thanks Alice!@@Alice-Efe
Soundtoys are still really good. Use them creatively and the sounds are as futuristic as ever
especially futuristic when you start experimenting with the effect rack presets
Please feel free comment here on the deals I missed. I tried to be extensive but I am sure I missed some of the good deals. ✌
Great video, as usual. D16 is S tier for me. I love all the synths I've got of theirs. Sound so good for old school type music. Good price too. Most know Phoscyon, but Lush and Drumazon are great too I think.
I bought sonible smart:eq, limiter and compressor. Limiter because I am not happy with Ableton's stock limiter, compressor because it has spectral ducking feature, and eq was in bundle
but it turns out it can be helpful in the mixing stage ;d
Sounds like you have a good plan, good luck!
Nice, thanks for making the list. Don't forget people, you don't need any of these plugins to make great music.
While deals can be attractive you better of mastering one synth than owning 20.
Facts
Basically you find your work horse, If just pick a synth to be your workhorse. I find Phase plant a good one for that. I like the work flow a lot.
Truth!
Cracked up when you immediately put Unison in D tier, exactly how I feel about Unison 🤣
Thank you for this, All the black friday stuff gets a bit over welming.
Great approach - different than all the other content creators doing the BF VST 2023 video.
Thank you! Hope it was entertaining and informative! 😊
the unison diss was so funny hahaha
I picked up Infiltrator 2 and wow is it amazing. It's way more sophisticated than Shaperbox but can do the same thing.
Great video :) But i see no Klevgrand. They have some amazing deals this Black friday!
I am sure I have missed quite a bit. 😊 thank you for reminding!
Do not disagree with any of the placements, well done! How about omissions? No consideration of Slate Digital? I value I use the virtual mix rack in every mix and the analog simulations are 1st class.
RipX, while not quite Melodyne, does do way more for less. The best stem separator, but its also good for pitch correction. The ui is not quite up there with melodyne though.
Please help me choose fabfilter timeless or u-he mfm2?
I think they are different animals. Timeless as a core delay plugin, u-he for more experimental delays.
Scored Diva and couldn’t be happier.
Hey hey do you do 1 to 1? Class?? Privately!????
Best review on youtube !!
Thank you!
Are you based in Sweden? Noticed the "SEK" pricing :)
What is with softube? The germanium compresser 99.- is magic for kick and bassline on of the best compressor!💥👊❤️😱
And tone projects basslane pro 77.- and Michelangelo EQ169.-❤️😱🔥👌
Or TDR Limiter GE6 bei Plugin Boutique for 19.-, really good clipper 😉
Minimal audio ❤ the new synth current ❤💥👊
Plugin subscriptions to pair with your streaming music and video subscriptions.
The Ultimate List: Don't buy anything. You really don't need it.
I mean don't buy anything is a bit too extreme. There are many reason why you need or imprve what you have. But" buy only the things that you really need"; I can stand behind that 😊
Only VSTs I really can’t do without is sylenth / spire because of the soundbansk, my sound design isn’t good enough yet and I feel like it’s a skill of its own so I rather get sounds and tweak them to my liking
When you make money with your music you will end up buying things otherwise you will have to pay more taxes. Instead of throwing away money to the government I always invest in the studio and let it grow ❤
Not agree. Out there are so many tools that definitely improve and enhance the proyect. If you know how to use it.
@@Alice-Efebut most of the time you don’t know if you need it until you use it. And most of this plugs on the promo cost like one good meal in restaurant anyway. Or about four meals in mcdonalds.
Btw, thank you for that list. I am a sucker for good promo and some of those promos I missed
Btw 13:30 that's me there, it has become something like that really lol maybe more than 200 idk
It's a weird tossup, most of these developers offer better prices all year long, Plugin Alliance is on sale 4 times per day 365 days a year lol. U-He and Arturia , fabfilter and maybe Roland are the only ones that are worth it, all the others you don't need them.
Which 303 is better than Phoscyon? I love Pigments. Good third place after Phase Plant and Falcon 3. For Melodyne: Just take Assistant and you‘re good to go for 90 bucks for BF. And Korg Collection? Better choose U-he, Cherry Audio, GForce, then you don’t need that. And if you havent yet, get the UAD bundle you can afford. They are all best-in-class. And dont firget Sonnix Oxfort inflator, limiter, compressor. Also awesome.
Reaktor TRK 01 by native instruments is nice
I know a lot of people don't like subscriptions, but the Complete Access of SSL + Slate Digital at $15 a month is one hell of a deal.
Hard disagree...you can get plugins that cover the stuff from SSL and Slate from Plugin Alliance, UAD (native) and even SSL themselves is your wait a bit for their deals.
3:33 - Nailed it 😂
I would put you in S tier. Great videos.
Awww ❤
WHAT IS A SONG that Answers "Why do farts smell bad? And why do Boys laugh at farts?" If you could
On melodyne vs DAW:
certainly a DAW has a greater list of features and hence require more development, but Melodyne required advanced research which DAWs don't.
So it's not apples to apples IMO.
I am still not convinced unfortunately. Ableton has 350 employees while celomany has 20.
The size of features directly correlates with the cost of operating software. The bigger the feature list, more things to take care of, more emplyees needed, higher the costs and higher the price of the software.
And DAWs require quite a bit research as well. Think about Ableton warp functions or new AI feature etc. Those are all R&D.
Like I said, melodyne is the best in class, an amazing piece of software and I love it! But 700 eurs feels a bit like abusing its duopoly (actually kind of monopoly) position in the market.
Ableton comes with a lot of bloatware junk in my opinion. Reaper for example has really good stock plugins for audio engineering, but only one stock synth. And 32 bit plugins work with new reaper versions.
@@Alice-Efe No worries I am not trying to be argumentative.
I just wanted to highlight that what they offer is very different. They invested in resear for SOTA algorithms that haven't been beaten yet to theses days.
They have THE BEST algorithm, it can be somewhat measured.
For DAWs it's more a matter of taste rather than have the best algorithm.
It's a different league IMO.
I completely understand your point though and I am not arguing agains it.
Yes, potentially Melodyne is more profitable than Ableton which is why the price comparison feels unfair.
Omg i love you...cause ur face is like v v cute cartoon/BIG LOVE🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I will buy all plugins 😊
haha that is a solution 😅😊✌
Where's UVI?
@3:33 lmao!
yeahhhh tier list so good idea love it ! Black friday deals video become a bit boring
Yeah felt the same. Hopefully this would give a bit more info while being a bit more entertaining as well. 😊✌
@@Alice-EfeOn point
One Ableton Extra, especially for New Costumers...
When you buy the Suite as a new Costumer now, you get the update FREE, means 20% now plus 160€ Update free is like 250€ ?
A no brainer, if you like and want Ableton! AND S TIER.
Great video and nice list. I have a lot of the plugins already so I am not buying much this year. I already have: U-He several (including Diva and Hive2), Arturia everything, Korg bundle, Izotope everything (except latest ozone), fabfilter (almost everything), oeksound (sooth2 + spiff), output everything, NI Komplete 14 CE, Ableton Live 11 Suite(12 is preordered), Soundtoys complete, a few Softube plugins, Cableguys complete
You have basically most of the S and A tier so not buying anything makes sense 😊
Cubase 13 pro has everything you need
Thank you for this Alice ! i totaly agree ! Arturia is a very good company and unison is bullshit...
I love your chanel !
ily
I like Arturia but they desperately need to amend the V-collection to include a RAM efficient GUI option. Their GUIs are memory hogs. Just to give you one example a single instance of their Jupiter 8 on a 5k apple studio display scaled to 120% uses up over 1GB of RAM!! 1GB for one synth. On a small Macbook air screen the situation is not at all better. Same plugin east up 780MB. By comparison Diva in similar settings sits at about 180MB and TAL jupiter 8 version is at 85MB.
I like how you skipped Waves 😂
shaperbox should be on D - its always just 10% for years
It's so interesting that Melda Production is not in this list.
And also IK Multimedia T-Racks. The best deal is theirs along with UAD Spark. And this is for purchasing, not subscribing.
Also UnitedPlugins have some really crazy deal up to 83% discount, especially on Fire bundle, that shouldn't be missed
Why am i watching this now
Don’t forget Cherry Audio!1
You forgot waves
Unison Audio should be S tier but S for s***
Haha Yup! 👍
2 flaws in your review: Reason 12 which can be used as Reason Rack inside any daw is also at 50% so you still have crazy value without subscription, your comment may be missleading. Also you dont even mention Bitwig sales. I understand that everybody can have preferrences but your viewers certainly also use massively this DAW as it is very electro oriented. You should be above the fight and speak about both in a neutral manner.
fabfilter is a s tier plugin but thats a c tier deal maybe d
i prefer the d-16 303 emulator, i forget the name of the one everyone likes, but it doesn’t sound more realistic it just sound more extreme…. of course we’re talking about something very subjective here
edit- if you ask me the important thing in a 303 plugin, is how it sounds in motion…. basically, does it sound good when playing legato notes bouncing up and down an octave or two…. that’s what you should be asking. I think that’s where the difference is, does the sound smear well
That’s what i like about the 303 emulation on the T8…. it sounds good when things get wild, i really like the sound of the overdrive as well it definitely has “that sound”… haha it’s a roland product, it better!
My thinking was "a S tier plugin that rarely goes to discount. But the discount is B/C tier discount". So combination kind of made it to late A tier.
this voice is making it hard to pay attention ngl..
