Virginia & Truckee 29 - 1982

Consolidation No. 29 (former Longview, Portland & Northern No. 680) in service on Nevada's rebuilt Virginia & Truckee in the summer of 1982. At that time the train made a short, 30 minute round trip over 1 3/4 miles of track to Tunnel No. 4. The passenger equipment consisted of an open car and a pair of converted cabooses; tickets were sold out of a wooden passenger car in Virginia City.

I remember riding her in the late '90's before her boiler ticket expired. The whistle is sharper than I remember, probably the audio.

In the 90s she wore an SP Nathan 6-Chime, but here in this video is her original half NP, half SP 5-Chime, which is the same whistle she wears today.

That was her 5 chime before she had an SP 6 Chime in the 90’s.
