    Enjoying your videos. I know exactly where this is and when visiting in June/July might give it a shot. Will treat it with much respect.

    One more question, what are you usually looking for as far as tides rising, falling, slack? Thanks!

    • @cyfishkauai9380
      @cyfishkauai9380  2 года назад

      Fishing is usually better 2 hours before or after a changing (slack) tide. The greater the tidal movement the better the fishing, usually… I also get more productivity around sunrise and sunset.

    Fuck I used to run a the exacts same 9’ gx2 with a penn fierce II 4k. A medium action pole with that weight of a reel will mess up your wrist pretty good, especially if your whipping. I switched to lighter everything. I now run a 9’ daiwa north coast SS MF rodpaired with a KastKing Sharky III 5k (this reel rivals shimano’s & for a cheaper price w/sexier looks)

      Bra not good for the wrist for sure! The thing def was uncomfortable. I love the sharky III so much I bought 3 lol. So cheap for a pretty sturdy reel. Now I’m running a 10’ major craft solpara with a 6k or 5k reel

    I’m going to be there next week, any suggestions on what kind of structure or water to look for? Thanks never been, going in blind all C&R

    • @cyfishkauai9380
      @cyfishkauai9380  2 года назад +2

      If using lures you typically want to cast around structure and white wash. Or you can cast out squid or shrimp anywhere and hope for the best. If u just want to catch a bunch of smallish reef fish just throw out some shrimp on a bobber around reef areas. U never know what u going catch, good luck 🤙

    Just got here yesterday and brought my bass fishing gear. What size hooks do u use for papio in Hanalei. Just went do there to look today . Also that pier by the airport looks nice as well

    • @cyfishkauai9380
      @cyfishkauai9380  2 года назад +2

      I use size 6 AH hooks when whipping with a 2”grub that can be bought at Hanapaa store in Kapaa or the ace hardware in Lihue. Some people prefer the BKN hooks tho because they are stronger and have a less chance of getting snagged in the rocks and reef. With that setup I’ll run 6 feet of 10 lbs fluoro as my leader tied to a barrel swivel with 1oz egg lead. 🤙 checkout the whipping rig setup video by Shaka fishing. They have a great explanation

    You let your jigs hit bottom? I lose so many shore casting lol

    • @cyfishkauai9380
      @cyfishkauai9380  2 года назад +1

      This place is mostly sand so no need worry. Can’t help but lose plenty at reef areas. I take off the treble hook and only have the assist hooks when fishing reef 🤙
