    Badass! That is one for the ages. Congrats on that battle not only with the fish, but with yourself and your gear, boat, sea conditions, gaffing, landing... all of it...

    Kyle, do you favor live bait or lures for Ahi and Ono off Kauai?

  • @Mrkellywilliamson
    @Mrkellywilliamson 4 года назад

    Kyle, do you still catch Yellowfin 50 Lbs and up off Kauai from a Kayak or are those bigger fish further and further out now requiring a bigger boat for the longer trek?

    Congrats on the the awesome catch ! Nice video...especially like the underwater footage. A feat just to get it aboard the kayak, You must have been tempted to try to put it on the back so you could use the mirage drive. It is big catches like that that might make you want to upgrade to a bigger kayak.

      John McKroid Jr. Thanks man. I knew I had to put it in the middle because the back would've been underwater. The back half on my kayak is pretty thin. Paddle in wasn't too bad cause the water was so nice that day.

    Sick. It takes mad skills to put that on your lap. Well done. Do you guys have the Ahi running all year every year?

      Thanks bro it was a heck of a workout. They run every summer and if we get lucky they come within kayak range. My buddy got one couple months ago at the same spot. Couple chunks got bit off, but it still tipped the scale at 125.5 lbs.

    That is a dream scenerio right there....and getting to eat that would be almost equally as good.
    What did you get it on? Live bait? Trolled plug?

    Did the fish make any big 100+ meter runs?

    • @YAKuzaKauaiKayakFishing
      @YAKuzaKauaiKayakFishing  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah gps said I moved almost 4 miles during the fight

    • @nickleback3695
      @nickleback3695 9 месяцев назад +1

      By 100 Meter runs I mean how much line it pulled out of the reel, for instance if you hooked it 50 yards away and it ran 100 yards you would have 150 yards of line out.

    • @YAKuzaKauaiKayakFishing

      sorry for the late response. Live bait, dead bait, lures in that order. nothing beats live bait cause it does all the work for you
