I worked in this Sears (2060) as a stockman in1976 while going to school at ITT on Northcutt PL (I was from NE Ohio) and immediately recognized the loading dock areas as you walked in, the floor tiles and outside brick look the same. Customer service was there, too.
I even recognized the service bay I had my 73' Camaro looked at. The trash truck was still in the same bay I saw to the right as you exited.
What a trip down memory lane, thanks so much for posting this. I'm still friends to this day with a girl I met who worked in the lingerie dept. We were an item for a time in the 2 years I lived in Dayton. I still see her fresh face from then, have kept in touch but haven't seen her in person since.
The name of the security guy popped into my head, he went on to have a successful career as a detective in Dayton, I found his obituary, he was 17 years older than me.
This is as close as you can get to an actual time machine. 48 years ago...I was just starting out, it was my first time away from home and I'm now retired. My god it went so fast.

A lot of memories from there: My dad had his cars worked on there, he always joked that he was renting sears tires. I remember their record department so fondly and they sold chemistry set components and Matchbox cars. Late I bought computer games there.

My brother and I abandoned a '61 Chevy in their parking lot. Can you imagine what it might be worth now? I attended the liquidation sale, it was bittersweet to say the least.

Jeff Campbell Just like most every city over 50000 pop. In the US, because of liberal policies and federal tax laws that punish good behavior and reward bad behavior.

I am impressed with how intact this store is still. Glad it has not been trashed. Too bad the fuse boxes have been stripped out you could have turned on a few lights. Thanks for the video.

There was an optical department, a dentist, a photographer, and a car/truck service center in that Sears. As you face the store from the front, the car service center was to the far right. Our daughter worked as a receptionist at the dentist office. We lived on Westbrook Road just north of the Salem Mall when we first moved to Ohio in 1996. Store is still standing, still empty. Everything is leaving Trotwood. The Walgreen's that just opened, has now closed.

I used to caddy at Meadowbrook country club made a Ton of money as a teenager and spent most of it at the Salem Mall and Hara watching the Dayton Gems hockey growing up......we moved to Florida in ‘75 and the rest is history, Thanks for the post.

Sorry to use your comment section for this, but I couldn’t find any other way to reach out. My wife and I are travel nurses and may be taking an assignment in Dayton for the first of July. You definitely seem like a reputable source of info on the better places to live. We always rent a house with a fenced back yard. Any suggestions on at least where to stay away from?
    Thank you,
    Andy
