    One thing I’ve tried and it worked really well was getting a pack of the waterproof gazebo wind panels and using them on the sides of the tent for extra water resistance. It worked like an absolute charm. Those plus the rain fly kept the tent fully dry and comfortable both in winter and summer rains

    Nice review of this tent! I have had the T4 Overland Edition (orange) and a Gazebo G6 (original version) for two years. After our first rain experience, I got Kiwi Camp Dry spray and sprayed both the tent and gazebo all over (used like 6 cans) and then the carry bags as well. This made all the difference in the rain protection and no longer have water issues.

    Really good honest review. We have a T-4 and the older design T-4 Plus. They addressed some of my concerns with this new T-4Plus like making the fly on the sides larger but stopped short of enlarging on the ends. I like the changes inside the screen room by moving the screen covers to the outside for better rain protection. We haven't had a problem with bleed through with ours but a friend has had some on his T-4. I don't need another Gazelle, but I am in love with this color and the changes are making me want to buy this one!!!

    As an owner, 100% valid.
    My only addition is we prefer to run the front room floorless and just use as a pure screen room. Save the extra floor for when the main room floor goes.

    Those 7 loops also let you roll up the sides of the rain fly similar to the front door panels over the mesh, there are little bits underneath to loop into them.
    I've had the T4 plus for 3 years and just discovered this.

    Great video. I have the T3 and used it extensively for camping at the motocross track with my young family. I just received this tent, the T4 plus overland and looking forward to using the front part as a small “garage” for my sons’ MX bikes (electric Husky). The only issue I had with the flooring is that if you take it apart from the Velcro, the next time you reinstall the flooring to the Velcro, it won’t be totally flush as when you first buy it. I would have bugs come in through those unvelcro’d channels. Otherwise, love all these tents.

    I don't think what you call "bleed through" is actual rain passing through the tent wall. I would be more likely to believe that it was condensation due to the warm inside and colder outside causing this condensation on the inside of the wall and not rain bleeding through. JMHO

      I have always wondered about this tent and thanks to you I have all my questions answered .I have a roof top tent but like a stationary tent for the same reasons you use yours for. It is amazing how fast it goes up,which is a plus as you stated for the rain. For-me personally the speed is not important . I am just happy to be camping. I also liked your install of the switches .I have had one sitting in the back seat of my gladiator and was deciding if I was going to attack the project,you made the decision easy for me and thanks for that. My wife and I use a nice baffled queen sized air bed and it is more comfortable that the king we have at home. We just air down the bed and have full use of the space. I don't think I would like a longer rainfly due to air flow restriction. This is one of the reason's I decided on the Gazelle is the rainfly doesn't extend the below the windows / length of sides, thus allowing for air flow into the tent in 3 seasons.

    I have a T3x and it was used everyday for 30 days while overlanding in Colorado and Utah this past Sept/October. It was a very worthwhile investment and it was just my dog and I so we had plenty of room. However, some downsides were the nearly useless stakes, and as you pointed out, it would be nice to have a larger rain fly as an option. Also, in very heavy winds, such as during a thunderstorm that came through outside Moab, the side of the tent actually caved in, on two sides, and I had to pop those sides out before the whole thing collapsed. Fortunately it didn't show any signs of permanent damage. Its not meant to be a 4 season, "all weather" tent but its great for its ease of setup and take down. There have been no leaks or internal condensation either.

  • @WayneTheSeine
    @WayneTheSeine Год назад +2

    Good review. I think what you view as bleedn through is actually condensation. One way to find out is to set it up under a full tarp or under a carport in cold weather. My guess is, it will still bead water. Most synthetic tents suffer from this. However, your more traditional synthetic tents rainflys come all the way down and condensation accumulates on the fly and simply runs down and drips to the outside. I have a 4 man Alps and have seen it soaked with condensation, water running down the sides, yet have never had one drop enter the tent. However, these tents tend to have netting from the top down to a couple feet or so from the bottom, allowing all condensate to accumulate on the fly. I am seriously interested in this tent but the water issue has me concerned. That being said, I wonder if running a diesel parking heater outside, where the tent is warmed evenly and throughouly, yet does not introduce excess water might help resolve the issue or at least not introduce so much water into the tent. That is the biggest issue with running propane in a tent....water. Great Review, I love this tent.

      @TheSkystrider 10 месяцев назад +1

    Two issues I’m wondering if you can answer. 1-the Velcro areas that wrap around the poles how do you feel about insects getting in, is there a lot of open area for that? 2- wind, I understand strapping down the sides but what about the top, is it possible for there to be enough wind to push on the top of the tent?

    Strange that you had water blead through. I have one and it's been in some nasty storms, like raining sideways and it's always dry inside. Never had water ingress. Also, it's a good idea to always to guy wire the side panels. If you get a strong wind, the hubs will pop inward and can hit you pretty hard.

    Can somebody please tell me the maximum length of a cot that would fit in this tent, laying in the same direction as the bed in this video? I just want to make sure that my 84 in (7foot) cot will fit in here. TIA

      You 7 foot cot would work fine. The T4 has an 8x8 foot print and T4plus have 8x16

      Thank you so much I kind of thought it would but somebody was hell bent on telling me it would not I think they may have wanted to place their cot facing out towards the screen room versus against the back wall. I don't care where mine goes as long as it fits!

    So guessing it is not a 4 season tent

      Good question! The material is really heavy but the top is all mesh. We've had it out in 12 -14f and I'm comfortable using it in cold weather but don't think it would technically be considered a 4 season tent.
      Though I've spent plenty of time in tents in the cold and snow, I've never owned a proper "4 season" tent for direct comparison so I don't consider myself an expert.
      Thanks for watching! - Kelly

      Its not a 4 season tent. You might look at Kodiak Canvas tents for that type of camping, much heavier but will last through just about any weather.

      Yes, it was not horrible but it did leak some.

      Mine has never leaked, not treated and under some severe downpours. Just saying.
