Cysts, not tumors 😬 I have PCOS too and my dr has me on so many supplements! Said she’d consider putting me on metformin at my next appt if the weight gain continues to be a problem after making lifestyle changes.
@@ritaray5562 I have so much to learn about PCOS. It's so new for me! I def know more about Cushings, so please keep commenting and educating me!! My tumors are benign, and theyre hoping I won't need surgery to remove them! We'll see!!
@@Chronicallyyours_ ahhhhhh that is such a relief!! I'm actually just starting to learn more about PCOS myself as well - I'm being tested for it & my best friend actually got diagnosed last year, its a constant learning curve for all of us! 😭
Hi Noura! I recently had an appointment with a new endo, who ran a bunch of blood tests (16 different labs 🙃) in an attempt to figure out if my symptoms are from PCOS, an adrenal problem, a pituitary problem, or a combo of them all haha. Besides cortisol & ACTH, do you know which of your labs were elevated? Specifically for PCOS? This whole process has been so confusing & I am so stressed waiting for my next appointment, my labs came back & I have no clue what means what! 😭 your videos have honestly helped so much & I am so grateful for you sharing your experiences with us!
Also, I had been trying to figure out what ethnicity you were - I'm Middle Eastern & could tell you definitely were too, I just couldn't tell what specifically 😂 your name is beautiful!
@@ritaray5562 Im Egyptian and Lebanese!!! So for PCOS, I had high DHEA-S and high testosterone. Testosterone was the big sign for us, it was super high! it can be elevated with Cushings, but mine was twice the usual amount. It's much more manageable now. It's a little funky because a lot of these things overlap. For Cushings I had highish ACTH and high cortisol. This is the big sign that its Cushings instead of (or along with) PCOS. Cushings also caused low iron and low vitamin D, but that can also be caused by PCOS. The big thing for realizing it wasn't JUST Pcos was that I did a PCOS treatment trial. 6 months of no carbs, low sugar, attempting to work out, and on Metformin. None of it helped until after I had my cushings surgery. PCOS is difficult, for sure, but it is treatable and should get better with consistent work. Cushings will not get better without surgery or strong medical treatment. I'm so glad my videos have been helpful!!
@@Chronicallyyours_ I actually wonder if a lot more people have cortisol issues than they realize and just get diagnosed as having PCOS because it’s a got pretty vague diagnostic criteria and most doctors don’t even consider looking at cortisol/ACTH unless you really push for it. So many of the symptoms and effects on the body are very similar!
I was diagnosed with PCOS first and now testing for Cushings… yay, us! Ha ha!! All the “fun” diseases.
lmao twins

I started to panic when she said tumors!! I was like "tumors?!?! not cysts?!?!" 😬
@@ritaray5562 haha some people have cysts! I actually have mostly tumors, and some cysts as well! Cysts are totally more common.
@@Chronicallyyours_ oh my God! I am so sorry Noura! Are they benign? I never realized it was common to have tumors with PCOS!

How can they tell the difference between the two
PCOS is more surrounding testosterone, excess hair, periods and cysts. Cushings has more body weakness, bone problems, buffalo hump, vision loss, etc
