    If I had to pick one of these two it would easily be the Mega Man version. I enjoy some variety in any game list and 5 Street Fighters is 4 too many for me. I know some people especially love the Alpha series but for me one Street Fighter is the same as any other.

    Megaman looks the better one and offers more variety with it's games. However I went Street Fighter.
    I don't care for Megaman as Turrican was more my thing, Final Fight & Strider are on EXP, Knights of the Round is on Super Retrocade along with the former two games. That left Carrier Airwing as the deciding factor vs a Street Fighter collection for me. Street Fighter Alpha's have never being released as arcade1up machines either so that's a plus.

    Enjoyed the video! I keep thinking several of the Evercade carts I have would be really fun to play on this thing, so I’m planning on getting the Mega Man one as well. (The regular, not the deluxe edition) I’m especially envisioning the Gaelco games being a blast on this thing.
    On the hardware releases, I think these new -R versions are intended to replace the VS and EXP as they run out of stock, and make them cheaper to own for people that don’t have those devices yet.
    I never got around to getting an EXP and I really like the color scheme, so the EXP-R is tempting me.

      Thanks! Glad you liked the video. Yeah, I wish they would have standardized one rev. back, I think they have been coming out with a little too much hardware lately. I agree people should definitely should go for the R versions if buying a new one.

  • @SteveODonnell
    @SteveODonnell 4 месяца назад +2

    The -R versions of the hardware replace the existing versions. The EXP drops the Capcom games and HDMI out in favour of a cheaper price point. It also has a more efficient version of the chip so it should improve battery life.
    So going forward on the -R consoles will be on sale.

      I’m going to pass on these. I think the idea is neat but seems to overlap the built in games on my exp and the hyper mega tech handhelds. Instead I’m going to add a few more carts to my evercade library.

      I agree. Almost "back to back" the VS Duke Nukem edition, the super pocket, the new cheaper model than the bartop. It's a lot of hardware in a short window of time.

    namco cart on it? um, no. early namco games are 4 gate. i would never play a 4 gate game with an 8 gate, it pisses me off to much.

    • @Retr0Rob
      @Retr0Rob  4 месяца назад

      On my "console" arcade machine I can add a gate: I would assume you can do the same on these (at least the Sanwa versions). I will have to try it once this shows up -- mostly depends on how easy it is to access the controls.

  • @donny4182
    @donny4182 4 месяца назад +1

    Wish they would have just had a wider control deck with a second set of arcade controls. Yes, the usb controller option is nice but less than ideal. If you’re in the Evercade ecosystem already though, this thing seems like a good deal.
    Do I need it, hell no. That said I’ll probably grab the Mega Man version for the garage arcade.

    A lot of good thoughts. I just don't get this or its appeal. To me, Evercade needs to put a hold on more hardware and focus on software. I would think that would be common sense but apparently the Evercade community no longer cares about games or carts (or price) and just blindly supports everything that Blaze does. Sell a bar top that's more expensive than a new gen console? Sure!!! That makes sense. Can only play on an 8 inch screen? Well everybody loves sitting in their buddy's lap while duking it out in Street Fighter, am I right? And we now have Final Fight available in 3 different places but still not a single one that accommodates two guys sitting on the same couch playing on the same tv.

      I mentioned it's on your shorts video about this Evercade product but I'll mention it here as well: I love Blaze but how many people would prefer this than using their VS on their huge living room TV with a separately purchased aftermarket arcade stick?

    • @francescosmith7859
      @francescosmith7859 3 месяца назад +1

      @@esperago I'm right there with you. I understand there are a lot of people who do enjoy handhelds but I'm 44 and have started to use reading glasses. I'm picking my full size television over an 8 inch display every day of the week (and good point on also having a separate arcade stick).

    • @Retr0Rob
      @Retr0Rob  3 месяца назад +1

      @@esperago It's more of a "bartop" kind of thing I think. I have a couple of smaller mini arcades that I put up during my "Brown Liquor Christmas" party for people to play, so this would fit that bill. I'm guessing some people would use it to keep the kids busy while they watch TV. I also suspect a lot of people are just getting it as a collector's item. As I mentioned in the video I think this is of limited appeal - I mean it's cool for me, but not sure how many people have a use for it.

  • @thewiirocks
    @thewiirocks 3 месяца назад +1

    I must be their target audience or something, because this actually appeals to me in a way the previous consoles didn't. I dunno, I always felt like I have plenty of handheld gaming and TV emulation devices. Why do I need Yet Another One? Especially with the added difficulty of cartridges.
    But a well made bartop arcade? Those are still hard to come by. If Evercade did a decent job with this (and it supports their full library) I might actually want one.
    BTW, on the VS thing... I was today years old when I realized it wasn't pronounced "versus". IMHO, that's a pretty basic marketing miss on their part.

    1:44 only player 1 uses the joystick and arcade controls but whats about player 2 ? lets be honest the second player will lose into unfair matches all the time because the glorious prince/princessplayer1 with his holyarcadecontrolls just throw a cheap 7$ china knockoffcontroller into player twos lab and this will split many friendships apart... why not 2 arcade controls? or atleast release a evercadearcade controller which can be connected to the alpha per usb....
