Sometimes you just need this type of "cute pandas,, cute chicken" videos.
There is so much darkness in this world. The chicken video is sometimes the most positive Anyway thanks for sharing enjoyed it a lot.

Well, I hope you're in a better place now, I was also in a very rough part of my life, 7+ years ago now. Depressed suicidal atheist who pretended to be happy and confident but internally dying inside from and abusive mother, boyfriends, etc. But now I came to believe in Jesus not because I believe in some story but because Jesus showed up in my life proved the word of God to me. Here's what he did, while asking 100 questions about the existence of God He gave me something I never experienced before, silence... In my head I felt only peace and silence. no confusing chatter or anxiety just silence and every question I asked my now husband he answered, and every answer was conclusive; it did not lead to more questions but fulfilled every endless pit of questions I had. As an atheist there's a belief in that every question just leads to more questions, but that day I learned that if questions lead to endless questions then something is wrong or somebody is lying and chains of questions lead back to God and end them. So today, I now speak to God everyday and He speaks back to me and I see Jesus' face and His Angels all the time. For me God has gone from impossible joke to common knowledge. But never will He cease to amaze me. He has pulled me out of the darkest places and even went into my own memories and healed every hurt in them and now whenever I think about those past events I can't see the memories without seeing Jesus pulling me out instead of the hurt and loss. God is eternal and the healer of all time; past, present, and future. He died 2,024 years ago to be the receiver of the punishment of our sins and sins against us that way we'd be healed and restored to how God intended us to be and what he instilled in us before we even existed yet when we were still a thought in Father's righteous and beautiful imagination. God writes our story from the end to the beginning He has already written your entry into Heaven and the path He's going to put you on to guarantee you'll get there. All you have to do is accept the fact that He did what He did and that He fulfilled all righteousness through it, that way you now wear His righteousness and purity and not your sin and trauma you were once in...

At least this way they are well cared for until they can provide some excellent nourishment for a family. It's as close to heaven as a chicken will ever get in this world. LOL, That’s what we call “chicken math.” I have 40 because I wanted a colorful egg basket of browns, blues and green eggs. So I ended up buying different breeds for their unique looks, feather patterns and personalities and forgot all about how many eggs I would get. Yes, I agree chickens are entertaining!

I enjoyed watching all those chickens; especially the various different breeds and egg colors! When I was little, I lived in Puerto Rico and we always had many breeds of chickens free roaming around the house and in the forest. They ate all kinds of insects, seeds and weeds. In the evenings they would all climb on a particular tree and sleep there! When we moved to NJ, I really missed the chickens, so eventually, I went to a farm and bought a bantam rooster and 3 different breeds of small hens and let them roam free in the yard every day, just to enjoy watching them! In the evening, I made a signal with my hands and they would all march into the coop, and then I would secure the door! I have always loved chickens and like to watch them do their thing, like digging in the soil and singing their songs; You should also plant weeds, like dandelions, etc. to vary their diet; it will make the eggs taste better! Chickens remind me of dinosaurs, which like all other birds, is exactly what they are: the last surviving remnants of the dinosaur age! Take good care of them and continue to enjoy them!

I live n the U.K and many years ago as a kid we kept about a dozen chickens, That was for a family of 8. Mum didn't work but stayed home looking after us and baking. The first thing with chickens is you have to be prepared to wake when the cock crows? The second that most people do not tell you about is the Rats in the coups? The third is the smell from all the crap and lastly is when a fox gets in they kill the lot? And most likely not even take one for a meal? The main problem with Free Range chickens is you never know where they are going to lay their eggs

That's a really diverse flock you have there. I think you called the big grey chicken at the start of the video a "lavender orppintington", I never heard of that one, but a very nice looking bird.
I like buff orpington, barred rock and Rhode island reds, love the black astrolorps. I ve had some americaunas, which are gentle and like the green eggs. Chickens can be great fun to raise. I've never had ducks but I want to add them. Duck eggs are the best.
Anyhow love your videos and great looking flock and family. I think I saw in one of your videos that you were in the St Joe, MO area above KCMO? I'm about midway from Columbia and STL so our winters aren't quite as harsh as yours.

Smiley Smiles - I currently have adult hens, one of which is a three old Australorp. I love them. I made the mistake of buying a Husky and I can't seem to stop him from killing chickens from time to time. He's killed a good dozen or more birds. I have added a new set of birds that are almost 10 weeks old: 2 australorps, 2 rhde island reds and 2 silver laces wyndottes. My chicken''s coop (12 x 4 feet) is in a back corner ofmy 5 year old garage. I cut a hold for a door and a hole for a window and built the coop. Outside of it it a 12 ' x 81" run where they can play and eat and drink or whatever till I feel like getting up and letting them have the run of my back yard. It's just a city lot and I found I was reseeding my yard at least once a year (since the 5 years I've had them) Last fall I had it sodded. And fenced them off from it. By this spring it had a good root system and they the full run of it most of spring and all summer. I found if I flooded the poop, the grass didn't burn up. There are spots on either side of my garage where their are weeds and twigs and stuff to get bugs from. In the back closer to the alley I have a compost pile they play in, where I dump my grass, leaves, and kitchen scraps. They love to play in there.
I do have some hints about getting eggs in the winter. I live on the southern border of Chicago, so it gets very cold here. In the Winter I put a light on a timer that comes on about 4:30 or so and goes off at 9:00. Then comes on again about 5:30 and goes off about 7:00. So I get eggs all winter. And green food wise: I get wheat and barley from my feed store and have wheat grass or barley grass for them. It sprouts in day or two, then I spread it in a tray . .. . well actually two trays. The bottom tray has one, maybe, half-inch whole in it and the tray that sits in it has a bunch of steak knife slits in it. So once I spread the sprouted seeds on the top tray, I had rinse it off with water a couple/few times every day. The trays hang off my one end of my dinning room table tilted toward the hole. I have a bucket that sits underneath that, that catches the draining water , which my dog drinks (just kidding. . . .but some times she does). I have to empty it every couple or so days. in another 3 to 5 days I have grass tall enough to feed to the hens, roots and all. I just cut off rectangles of it with a knife.. or tear it out.. and throw it to them. They love it. When the tray is maybe half way gone, I start sprouting more seeds. I just started doing that last winter to supplement the organic mixed greens and spinach I was buying them from Sam's Club.
Also. . . that one adult Aussie i have. Poor thing has been through so much. I stepped back on one of toes one year and the end of her toe swelled up and the nail fell off and never grew back. And she's been attacked by my husky 3 times.. . last time just this past June. (he killed i think 2 adult hens and 2 babies I'd just gotten last September, the same day). Each time her back was ripped up down to flesh and bone. I rinsed it off with food grade hydrogen perioxide and then dabbed it with mannuka honey. She still lives and lays eggs. This last time was so bad she wouldn't come out of the coop. She sat up on a perch for days and I had to hand feed her and give her water through out the day to make sure she got enough of both. Just so happens she was molting at the time. Her feathers grew back and she's beautiful again. The other two times they feathers came back but her other feathers were old and looked dull.
OH. . . and I wish I'd seen this a month ago. I had my chicks in my house in a fish tank the first 3 to 5 weeks of their life depending on the time of year I get them. when I clean out the tank (daily) I take time to hold each one and talk to them a bit. So . . . my chickens will jump on my lap when I set down in the back yard with them. It's nice. As they get older some of them don't do it as much, but my Aussie still does. SHe'll sit on my lap and I'll pet her and she'll go to sleep. .. at least her eyes are closed.

When I was eleven I loved birds and I asked my mom for a parrot she said no and jokingly mentioned chickens. The next morning I went into the shop and started building the next few days I was in the shop or on my laptop researching. Three days later I started clearing a spot in the forest by our house(this was on our property) when I was done I asked my mom to take me to the hardware store so she did I spent almost all of my savings there and when I went home I completed my work five days later the only help I got was from my dad who helped me bring the coop I built in the shop to the fenced in area in the forest. Then I asked my mom if we could go to buckerfields and we came out with two rhodisland reds (sorry for the mistake) and a bag of chick starter. Fast forward a year, I am twelve have fifteen chickens two goats a peahen and peacock an alpaca and three bunnies I breed for meat. All this time I was trying to prove to my parents I was responsible enough to get a parrot.
This summer of 2019 I will get my parrot.
