Pretty sure this uses a bubble LED display, not a VFD. Also, the ridiculousness of this thing's name made me think whether Videomaster Enterprise was actually the name of the company who made it, which they decided to print in full, rather than the name of the product. And yeah, one does not simply use melodic combinations of sounds as far as these ancient games are concerned.

I had one like this. It was battle star galactica. I liked that as well as the Mattel basketball. Anyone remember micro vision. Was like a hand held Atari. They had break out etc.

Shame the display and the “9” no longer works properly. Wonder if Bigclive could do anything with it? I bet this came at at premium cost when compared to a regular calculator. 💷

I had one of these, bought from argos in 1979-1980 time period. Cost was about 20 iirc.
For my birthday that year I had enough money to buy an electronic game. Went to argos and got a space war thing which looked great from the box (it was shaped like a computer console and had spaceships flying around). Got home and discovered that it was basically 16 leds where you controlled one and had to find the hidden assailant. It was unbelievably rubbish.
Luckily argos agreed to swap for a different game and I chose this one because I already liked electronic mastermind and liked the idea of a pontoon game too.
It worked well but had terrible battery life and failed after 3 months or so due to the display. I got a replacement from them, that also failed after a few months - they had stopped selling them by that point so got money back.

The way it looks reminds me of a Psion Organiser II, and now I'm wondering if any of those 3 games are available on it, as they'd work better on its LCD screen, given the additional sp, especially with the 2 line screen!
