At one point it was an actual sofa he used for sitting but for a few years now it’s just been a set in his garage Over the years it has gotten a lot of weird shit on it that can’t be cleaned anymore so it’s a bit too dirty to use as a normal sofa
I think when he started out it was just his couch and he filmed in his living room but I think as the years gone on and he spilled various fluids and s*** on it and it just got old from you know being a couch he moved it elsewhere
"Do you need a specific mute key..?" Yes. On any device people are likely to watch porn while traveling there should be panic-accessible mute keys everywhere.
And it should be a hardware key that physically cuts off the speaker, not a key that mutes it through software like the volume control on phones which sometimes lags :/
GoredonTheDestroyer I was quite surprised when he said that honestly, considering some phones struggle to last 6 hours on standby a respectably powered mini laptop being capable of it (when running things which I assume is what ashen meant by testing) is absolutely fantastic
Crazy that you had issues with that clicker! We went through so many brands at my work before settling on that one.. had it for 3 years now and it's still going strong! Three other staff members bought them and love them because of how reliable its been!
You can't get away with a low res screen these days? Tell that to HP, even their higher up range 12" ultrabooks come with bad 1366*768 screens to this day.
Most makes are still making 1366x768 for 15.6" screens. I'd like more, but it's plenty good enough. Just because high end phones are competing to see how far beyond any point they can get their number (both resolution and price) doesn’t make adequate resolution less adequate.
If it is an iphone7 that screen is a bit worse than this laptop being spoken about in the comment above...lol My Galaxy S8 has an octacore CPU and a 2K/QuadHD amoled screen. Way above most phones (and all iphones of course) plus many laptops! In fact, my ASUS laptop is 720p and has a quad core cpu... half the power of my GS8 and less than a third of the screen resolution! If ONLY my GS8 HAD A FUCKING PICO PROJECTOR IN IT SAMSUNG!!!!
I really didn't think anybody would get practical use out of this small laptop, nice to see you actually doing so! And that projector looks like something I might consider getting for my home cinema. I think this was the most useful your reviews have ever been to me.
Am McBush Just fuck off will you I am fucking sick and tired of haters like you with no friends well guess what no one wants you here either you fucking loser
Well he did say in the video that now after the crowd funding has finished, they are about £400 so why are you surprised? Why did you even bother looking it up when he said it in the video?
I don't know if Ashens will read this, but the Logitech R400 Presenter is really amazing and not too expensive (and there's also the more upmarket R700 one)
I love my logitech R800 (R700 EU). Never had a problem with it when I give my lectures. In fact, I have never really had too many issues with logitech devices in general. A few hick-ups yes, like my MK710 keyboard and mouse combo not working with games when using set-point, but the tech helped me out and now it works flawlessly.
Logitech presenters are absolutely amazing, The Logitech Spotlight works like a normal presentation thing, but it's also a mouse, so you can use it like a WiiMote and it just works. uses bluetooth, but comes with the dongle. bloody expensive, but it'll probably never die given it's made out of metal. it also has special software that does a lot more than you'd think
Wow both of those devices are actually quite impressive, if it weren't for the broken remote you'd have an entire review full of actual quality products.
I have that exact powerpoint remote and it works perfectly. Admittedly I only use it for the laser pointer to play with my cats, but it does a great job of that.
I just got a GPD Pocket a few days ago, so I was very interested to hear that you had one, Stuart. I like mine for the most part. It does have an internal microphone, by the way. I was able to use it to talk to Cortana before I turned her off. You're dead right about the battery life. I can't even get 6 hours with very aggressive battery saving measures in place. Not sure why they claim 12, since 6 isn't really that bad, but if you say 12 and you actually get 6 people will be disappointed.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the entertaining videos. I really love the oddball couch style, and your commentary always amuses me. Pretty neat stuff you're showing off here. I've no use for the projector, but it does seem to be a pretty cool little device. I'm a junkie for portables, so that tiny laptop has me salivating. :D I might have to look into getting one of those.
That fight is a joke. Two completely different people who are trained in completely different disciplines, a circus designed to make both sides huge buckets of cash.
Clarissa McPigeon McGregor is trained in boxing, he just focuses on other martial arts as well. Not as good a boxer as mayweather, but he would kill the guy in virtually every other scenario.
Colonel Sanders just like you are trained in fried chicken, but these days seem to be focusing on burgers and strange wrap thingies. And wtf is it with the beans you serve in the U.K.? Boggled my mind when I was there.
Laptop battery tests by manfacturers should always be cut in half. When they test them they always run the device with the dimmest screen with no programs going on, all other features switched off...basically it'll have on only what it needs to actually run. So they test it in a condition that no end user would ever run it in.
Don't see why it's pointless. The speed it can do things and the amount of stuff it can do at once aren't really that related. 8GB (instead of 4) gives you a lot more headroom for multitasking irrespective of your processor speed.
Most people that buy netbooks like that are usually casual with computers and don't need 8gb of RAM. Unless you're playing high-end games, which you can't on netbooks, or video editing. Then I don't see a reason too.
According to the specs on intels website the intel atom will support 8gb of ram. I see that you cant use all of them unless you are using ram heavy programs. Web apps like Slack and Discord
I once found a projector. For computers, sad thing it was for older computers, so only VGA input, and no support for 1080. Gave it away to a fellow who had an older computer..
If you turn the wifi off and the screen brightness down to 15% and leave it alone you might get 10 hours, like all bloody laptops. Why can't the bastards just tell you a legit real use time and make their honesty the selling point!
That's pretty cool on the projector, technology marches on. I saw it and instantly thought "oh, another mini projector, those things never have enough light output to be useful, and they can't focus worth a damn either." Glad to be proven wrong.
The GPD Pocket seems to currently be sold through GearBest where it's about £400, or a UK company "DroidBox" appear to have imported stock for £420 (I'm tempted - would probably go with a UK supplier who have already sorted import duty and VAT issues rather than risk a customs nuisance). Also, dear Stuart, don't use duct/duck tape for temporary rigging of things - because as you've seen it leaves nasty sticky messes. Get some professional Gaffers tape (I like ProGaff), which is designed to peel away from all sorts of things and places (cables, studio/venue floors and wall, etc.) without causing such nastiness.
So... I googled this product (copied it right from the video description) and on Amazon this item (in the USA) was also purchased with: push up bras, smart watches, and female sex toys.
Because we need tiny computers to fit in our small bags. In all honesty, I'm looking at the little Win10 box they have. It would fit very well in my backpack, and be great for travel. And a lot more powerful than the little Asus I bought at walmart a long time ago.
God Ashens, EVERYBODY knows that one lumen is equal to the amount of light emitted per second in a unit solid angle of one steradian from a uniform source of one candela!
Once you've gone portable projector you never go back! Several months ago I switched to the Moto Z Force as my new cellphone and this phone has the ability to swap between multiple magnetically attached back plates that give it new or augmented abilities. The best one in my opinion is the mini projector with which you can throw a 70 inch display up on any surface. I have one for myself that I've taken for studying abroad in Japan which gives me an amazing screen on my white dorm room wall and my fiance` who teaches at a college back home uses it for her presentations during class. The first time we saw it used it was in a really well lit verizon store and we couldn't believe how sharp the picture was. As I get more and more attached to this ability to project anywhere it's convenient I've been wondering what I'll have to do when this phone or projector mod eventually craps out. This Projector is considerably larger than the mod which is smaller enough that it only doubles the thickness of my very thin smart phone but you get plenty for the increase in size even considering the power supply brick.
I've got a GPD pocket. I mostly use it as a little mobile excel device. Do a lot of math in the field and it's convenient for light duty productivity work.
I have the GPD win and it's actually really good. Honestly it's my favorite little tech gadget since my first iPod touch almost 10 years ago. Way better than the Nintendo switch imo
Different, learn to respect others, although yeah I'm getting a pocket and I'd get it over the switch any day. But let them enjoy their thingie too, they are not comparable products...
That's actually for the most part more reasonable than for a larger one (to a point) because small is harder to do, and they can easily sell it for more with the whole portability thing.
I remember a cheap projector I got from tkmaxx I though wow that is a decent price but......wow it’s bad it’s so dark and you can’t make out the film you are trying to watch - was quite good though for gaming I remember playing the first crash bandicoot projected onto the ceiling 😉😉😏
The GPD UMPC is exactly the kind of thing I've been waiting for. I was going to save for a pyra but if I can get my hands on one of these it wins across most of the board.
Museum of Swag Well the laptop is I saw a news article about a hacker getting caught and it showed an image of his gear and a laptop REALLY similar to this one popped up
I own a gpd xd for playing A LOT of retro games. Got it a while back and still use it pretty much everyday. For me as a portable gamer the thing was pretty much perfect.
hey ashens, so on that laser pointer presentation remote, that is the shitty old version. They make a new one that uses a green laser, it looks more star trek instead of a black peanut, and it works miles and miles away. The only thing is the green laser pointer makes it expensive, but it does work a lot better. I do not make any money off of this link, I just want to show you what I mean. It really is the best one out of the bunch. a.co/fiEZ95m
In with projectors or torches Ashens :p 3000 lumens means it's the equivalent of 3000 candles, not bad for something that size if it's actually accurate..
7 лет назад+6
It does not have 3000 lumens output, more like 300. It's a marketing scam.
Turns out it's 500 ANSI lumens (these shitbox projector companies usually advertise in ISO 21118 lumens, which are totally different) which is pretty much par for the course with mini projectors. The 720p is nice since most of them are 480p, but you are paying $400. I'd rather buy a normal-sized 1080p one for $500, or an SVGA one for $300, both of which are 3000 ANSI...
1 Candela = 1 standard Candle. 1 Lumen = The total amount of light from a source. It's not the actual brightness since the total light output is unfocused.
I've always thought projectors would be a better alternative to a tv, if they could actually make them right for once. I mean seriously, you could watch whatever you want, wherever you want! What, your tv's in the living room, but you have to use the restroom? PROJECTOR!!
catbeweird you know there's something a lot smaller, better, and usually cheaper for that? And it can do a whole.lot more? These things called smart phones
Last time I was this early I had a clever and vaguely amusing pun to gain fake internet points on youtube so I can feel some minuscule semblance of accomplishment to hold me on just long enough to prevent my inevitable suicide.
8:15 strange, I have literally the exact same clicker but mine seems to work perfectly. Perhaps this one is faulty? It comes with warranty so I would definitely get it replaced.
12:10 We (myself and my tech savy friends) always called those little control nubs that are still sometimes found on even new Lenovo ThinkPads, always referred to the nub as a "Joy-clit"! Which is a somewhat redundant name, lol...
lumens is also highly relevant to those interested in torches or lights in general as lumens is a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source.
All companies send me to review are bills.
Same, but not to worry, because you can just send it back and say "It's shit, I don't want it".
I have always wondered if ashens actually uses that couch for sitting or if its just a set piece now surrounded by lighting etc.
It's a total mystery.
At one point it was an actual sofa he used for sitting but for a few years now it’s just been a set in his garage
Over the years it has gotten a lot of weird shit on it that can’t be cleaned anymore so it’s a bit too dirty to use as a normal sofa
@@ShakeItLittleTina plus if it was sat on regularly, the saggage would be significant.
I believe it's in a dedicated studio room and only use for recording
I think when he started out it was just his couch and he filmed in his living room but I think as the years gone on and he spilled various fluids and s*** on it and it just got old from you know being a couch he moved it elsewhere
"Do you need a specific mute key..?" Yes. On any device people are likely to watch porn while traveling there should be panic-accessible mute keys everywhere.

@Angel Serrano Just chuck it in the nearest body of water
@canid song yes for you you dirty git 😏😏
Y'know, six hours of battery life out of something as small as the GPD Pocket isn't half bad.
GoredonTheDestroyer I was quite surprised when he said that honestly, considering some phones struggle to last 6 hours on standby a respectably powered mini laptop being capable of it (when running things which I assume is what ashen meant by testing) is absolutely fantastic
But obviously depending on what you are using it for

Thanks for bringing the GPD up. I genuinely have a need for something like this.

GPD looks amazing, I would love one of those.
"...you can't get away with low-res in this day and age."
"I don't mind!" SSofIreland said happily, watching in good ol' 480p.
exactly!
That’s what I grew up watching RUclips on before we got fast internet here so I’m not fussy
I had a 4GB ram and Athlon 2.
Ive been waiting for this video! Keep it up Ashens!
8GB RAM with an Atom.
My god that's pointless but surprising.
Believe it or not, the latest Atom CPUs actually fall into the range of usable performance.
According to the specs on intels website the intel atom will support 8gb of ram.
I see that you cant use all of them unless you are using ram heavy programs. Web apps like Slack and Discord
I mean, the GPD Win is a portable gaming computer running on an atom, runs skyrim well enough at 30fps. I mostly use it to emulate my old games.

The GPD Pocket seems to currently be sold through GearBest where it's about £400, or a UK company "DroidBox" appear to have imported stock for £420 (I'm tempted - would probably go with a UK supplier who have already sorted import duty and VAT issues rather than risk a customs nuisance).

Amazing how you can go from staring in spaced to reviewing projectors
So... I googled this product (copied it right from the video description) and on Amazon this item (in the USA) was also purchased with: push up bras, smart watches, and female sex toys.
Jesse Crandle well, that seems like a party
Because we need tiny computers to fit in our small bags. In all honesty, I'm looking at the little Win10 box they have. It would fit very well in my backpack, and be great for travel. And a lot more powerful than the little Asus I bought at walmart a long time ago.

The GPD UMPC is exactly the kind of thing I've been waiting for. I was going to save for a pyra but if I can get my hands on one of these it wins across most of the board.
watching this on a gpd pocket
wafroguy GPD Win, here....Now if only someone would come along with a GPD XD....
Ryno Bones My friend had one xD
I'm on an nVidia Shield Portable right now, but could go borrow my sister's GPD G5A... :P
Shield portable is still in good fit here too ^^
Waiting for a gpd pocket because shield doesn't fit in a pocket =/ (and I'd like a windows env)
I missed these old technology vids
Bloody hell this dinky little phone with a keyboard has about double the ram of my full-size laptop
Ashens in another movie??
I must watch this!!
I know someone who owns this
These are pretty good with hacking when you modify them
Beta Swagons: prewar "hacking"
Museum of Swag
Well the laptop is I saw a news article about a hacker getting caught and it showed an image of his gear and a laptop REALLY similar to this one popped up
Beta Swagons: prewar nice penis.
Museum of Swag bigger
I own a gpd xd for playing A LOT of retro games. Got it a while back and still use it pretty much everyday. For me as a portable gamer the thing was pretty much perfect.
I really wouldn't watch that film if it was free it boggles my mind that somebody would pay for the DVD, don't even know why they'd want to win it.
Oh wow......
that pocket laptop looks pretty neat
ShiZostu PocketTop™
hey ashens, so on that laser pointer presentation remote, that is the shitty old version.

SOLD! best projector review ever!
if you'd ever bought a torch you'd know what lumen's were.
If you'd ever paid attention to anything you'd know how to use an apostrophe.
BestBloke R.I.P
Touché!
One candela of luminous intensity uniformly across a solid angle of one steradian?
BestBloke Or a growing light.
What are you talking about, those projectors are a thing of beauty.
In with projectors or torches Ashens :p 3000 lumens means it's the equivalent of 3000 candles, not bad for something that size if it's actually accurate..
It does not have 3000 lumens output, more like 300. It's a marketing scam.
Máté Magyar figured as much, 3000 lumens on a torch is enough to cause temporary blindness at that distance 😂
Alex Nelson ahhh makes sense, cheers for clarifying dude!
1 Candela = 1 standard Candle.
1 Lumen = The total amount of light from a source. It's not the actual brightness since the total light output is unfocused.
Can't wait to hopefully meet you at i61 on Monday!
When Skyrim becomes the benchmark for all modern machines.
Sales dude: So this £400 laptop...
Customer: Ah yes! But can it run Skyrim???
xD
Skyrim is the new Doom.
every episode is a special, yay!
*sees picture of goat*
[SATANISM INTENSIFIES]
I believe that's actually a Tahr in the photo, they look very goat like but are more closely related to sheep, Ovides, than goats, Capridae.
oh
bakrichod xD
The average 60 watt lightbulb is 600-750 lumens, as a reference. I just know a bunch of useless shit, your welcome
12:10 We (myself and my tech savy friends) always called those little control nubs that are still sometimes found on even new Lenovo ThinkPads, always referred to the nub as a "Joy-clit"! Which is a somewhat redundant name, lol...
My school has HP Elitebook laptops with a control ball
Oh woww that’s a name for it 😳😳😉 I call it a nub
*To win you must be based in the UK
*Cries in American*
lumens is also highly relevant to those interested in torches or lights in general as lumens is a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source.
