    My Marantz AVR has a Burr Brown PCM1690 DAC - I know it's not high-end but it's plenty good enough to enjoy 24bit/192kHz Amazon music through my Fire Stick, and also enough to show the stark difference between Spotify and Amazon HD.

    Bur Brown are excellent opp amps if the circuitary is built correctly such as ifi do, it's a warmer more musical sound than Saber, I use both, depends on the player I am using and personal taste.

    Amazon has a lot of work to do with their user interface. I had been with amazon for years, recently switching streaming services. This was an eye opening experience for me. I was with amazon for the music quality, but for a service I used every single time I listen to music, I did get frustrated with the LONG list of "quirks." I still watch content in the hopes some of these things will improve.
    On that note, great job explaining everything!

    Great job explaining the Amazon Firestick and the Ultra HD setup. I am amazed at how few 2022 receivers have great DACs to take advantage of Ultra HD audio. Clearly Yamaha Aventage has some of the best DACs, especially the new RX-A8A nad RX-A6A. Are there other Audio/Video Receivers with outstanding DACs that you recommend for the Ultra HD music? Thank you for your amazing videos. I’ve watched all of your videos on any hifi products from home theaters chairs to acoustic treatment. I noticed on your display your Amazon 4K fire stick shows the device capability is 24/192. I have the 4K fire stick connected to my Marantz 8802A processor and the max device capability is 16-bit/192 kHz. Amazon’s website and technical support shows that the limit is 16-bit/192 kHz on the 4K firestick and if you want to get to the 24-bit/192 kHz quality (Ultra HD) you have to use their Echo studio, Echo Link or Echo Amp. But your display is showing the 24-bit without those devices. Interesting! I have all the upgrades and enabled the Ultra HD option.

      Burr-Brown is a very good entry level brand line of chips. They are used in the lower tier AVRs. Nothing bad, nothing great compared to things like ESS Sabre. Your CD player dac is not mean for converting anything but the CDs in it. If you want to use an AVR the only way to get significantly better sound/DACs is from a better AVR using better chips.

    I'm running a Yamaha RX-V3800 which use 192kHz/24-bit Burr-Brown DACs ( don't really care about anyones comments about how they hate these ). Running in Bi Amp configuration using Adcom GFA555 and GFA5800. Custom built speakers and crossovers. I have the Amazon music app settings correct for UHD. My Temporary TV is an LG 42LE5400 which only has optical audio out. I have a Visio 4K 70" TV with ARC which says HD audio output ( don't remember the model off hand maybe M70-C3 but it was a decent model at the time )at my other home that I haven't moved yet it's about 8 years old. My issue at the moment is the music app is saying that the LG TV is not capable of streaming 24 bit/192kHz audio so I'm only capable of CD quality. I would have thought it was just pass through, through the TV. Is this correct ? I don't remember seeing anythng in this video where the TV itself came into play maybe I missed that. Will the Visio with ARC HDMI audio out be capable of UHD audio even thouth the ARC says HD ? Thanks.

    • @SuperTigerdog
      @SuperTigerdog Год назад

      Well I guess I found the answer. In short if your TV doesn't have eARC you will NOT pass UHD audio out.
      "As you might have already guessed, Dolby TrueHD requires more bandwidth than Dolby Digital Plus, and the HDMI ARC specification was never designed to handle it. That’s why we now have enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), which has plenty of capacity and can handle lossless hi-res audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, which should satisfy even the most demanding audiophile."

I am using a cd player now that plugs into the back of the receiver via the rca jacks. I would like to see how using the internal dac sounds instead. Really hoping someone can help explain what’s going on. The video seems to indicate that the 4K fire TV will play ultra HD. I have a Marantz 7013 receiver, I’ve updated to the latest versions of both the software and application. I’m still only getting 16/44 resolution.
