fun fact: you can obtain grass by playing wormwood in summer. You can plant seeds anywhere and let them wither to get one grass per seed.

Fun fact: you can burn hound corpses to prevent horror hounds from spawning, sure that wouldn’t work because no torches but it’s good for when your playing willow or in a regular world
Oh, thanks for that! Would of been helpful if we had fire :)
@@BiddoBamss ha ha ha thats funny
Yaaa some Willow Gaming would be useful
It indeed lacks a challenge, but I think from time to time it can be very peaceful to just stay away from the challenges of the game. My favorite way is to simply spend time in the waterlogged biome: you can fish to relax, collect figs for easy food, use a scaled furnace for light and warmth in winter, a fridge for thermal stones in the summer, the canopy protects you from wildfires, hound waves and giants don't exist, you can only get monkey raids if you're somewhat close to the monkey island otherwise you're fine, the biome is very pretty and regenerates fireflies if you capture them so you can easily farm them there...
The change from spending summer in the caves to spending summer in that peaceful location was very refreshing for me.
Yeah, I know I came off as quite harsh towards the island in the video, but it is genuinelly a nice change of pace from the hussle-and-bussle of the normal game. :) All in all though, DST is a sandbox game as well as a survival game so I'm glad people can experience the level of challange they want. I'm definetly gonna be visiting the lunar island way more, now that I've done this video... just not living there!
@@BiddoBamss I would be harsh too if I had to spawn there of course, it's just taking vacations there from time to time that can be quite relaxing :p
I always bring some gunpowder to get rid of the native spiders though (1 unit is enough to explode a den), and bring some normal spider dens if I need spider drops.
@@dwight3555 I do this but with the archives instead. I bring saplings grass 1 spider egg and pinecone. You block spider eggs with rocks blocking archives enterance and kill them for meat, use silk to make tent and just eat and sleep all the time. For light you can either activate archives if there are no guardians to cause trouble (this also allows you to set a tree farm) or catch lightbugs just outside the archives with bugnet and release them around your base.
Earthquake isn't a problem in the archives. You have infinite food sanity hp with the eat sleep cycle. Only enemy that can cause you trouble is worm attacks which are reasonably easy to kite and kill.
You get yourself starcaller staff you can farm there as well. If you go get stonefruit bushes before going down it is even better since stonefruits cant spoil which means you can farm infinite food.
Ohh nice idea. Although the challenge first is finding that biome to begin with
I would have gone with Webber - obviously you didn't have any trouble with spiders as enemies, but they would have been useful for stuff like hounds - being able to count on lunar spiders to back you up when you're getting mobbed, plus having a normal nest to collect from.
Ultimately, i feel like a better version of this challenge would be "base on the Lunar Island, but you can't place anything elsewhere" You can build a boat, but if you do, no fire pit or chests or anything like that, same applies to mainland. You would have to plan careful expeditions, seeing as you would generally rely on torches for light on the mainland, and you would have to carry resources back to your base to make Alchemy Engine prototypes.
Future videos of this kind will be base restricted like you said yeah :D Lets us actually enjoy the rest of the game instead of walking around a evil glowy blue island.
I've done something similar once. But it was more to the fact i was stranded in the dead of winter.
Was with friends and one of them was dorking around with a telelocator staff on mobs and brought up the idea of a player using it and see where they end up. Being a Wilson with a full beard and a beefalo hat I opted for the challenge due to being the best permitted against the cold.
I eventually wound up on the lunar island with a broken staff and had to survive until early summer where I was finally rescued. Granted I had what grass was in my inventory prior.
But the drain of being stuck on that island for a long time and bombarded by gestalts is real.
Genuinely one of the worst feelings is starting some sort of challenge run of a game only to realize it just ends up making the game more boring…
Especially in a game like Don't Starve, where a "run" could last for however many days. We originally were gonna do the whole 90 days aka 1 ingame year thing but legit by day 10 we were already starting to change our mind.
This game kinda sucks if surviving is all you are focusing on
@@weedGatoits a *Survival* game
@@Flapjacks-tm8cf back then maybe.. but now the survival aspect becomes so much easier its still better as a survival game than something like Minecraft but still it basically now became discount terraria with all the stuff you can do and all the bosses not that its a bad thing it will just get very boring fast if you just play the reign of giants content
@@Flapjacks-tm8cf And yet nearly no survival games actually make the survival aspect the core gameplay loop. Mostly because it's tedious, not fun. Don't Starve is no different, that's why there's a million other things you can be doing while also surviving. It's why people largely hate the lunar island and ocean content in general, it's just tedious survival with nothing to really break up the monotony.
I've been thinking it over, and I think Maxwell should have been substituted for Wolfgang, because instead of having the liability of recovering sanity, you now have an easily scared strongman, basically a character without a drawback in this environment.
Hey!! If you were wanting to try this again, though, with less suffering, maybe you could try a run where you can't touch mainland? That'd allow you access to a lot more, and hopefully be less draining on your actual sanity
Acthually, since they would leave the lunar island, and not be on fissures for as long, they'd lose out on the sanity gain from them, so leaving the island to go out at sea would worsen their sanity :)
@@Lexxxxiii thank you for enloghtening me! hehe
This was a very well put together video well done 👍👍
Summer would be hell since you have no fire protection other than manually putting out smouldering.
Oh you're right, I forgot Ice-Flingos cant be made.. ok maybe a part 2 may be in order :)
nice vid man, love the idea! really impressed that you only have 6 subs smh.. I think a better combo for this would be Willow & Wig, as they can ignore some of the problems that living there brings, like the armor problem and the torch one, so bernie and wig can kill most of the spiders, while willow can get a lot of charcoal for crockpots, mostly fixing wig hunger problem :) Walter would also be a viable option with wig, as he can't regenerate sanity (srry for my bad english)
Thank you so much!! Yeah after we did the run we thought of other better characters, Wigfrid would of been awesome yeah. Might do another run at some point or a new challenge really soon :)
I got shocked by the view count and the amount of subscribers THIS VIDEO WAS SUPER ENTERTAINING! I watched the whole video through and I enjoyed every second :D
Thank you so much!! Means a lot :)
fun fact: you can cancel the passive enlightenment gain of the lunar island by crafting a seawreath, it helps a lot, as long you aren't close to a fissure
i just learn it when i tried this Challenge and then i remembered that it has a sanity lost by wearing it
i also spawned deerclops, i just died one time
i was playing in endless mode and alone, that's why
my thought near the end was that wigfrid would have been good because of armor and weapons that you could craft without grass but im thinking that it might be impossible because of the food downside. monster meat would not have worked, and saladmanders are far too hard to kill to get leafy meat, which im not even sure she can eat, and in the summer, they drop dragonfruit, which would remove that source completely
*Before even watching it fully*
Did it recently like a week ago with Wurt since she gets bonus hunger from kelps and stone fruits. Conclusion: u may survive infinitely technically but u'll eventually lose a purpose to play since there's a cap of items u can get/things to do. If you somehow add up a possibility to craft boats for urself or enable world regrowth + enabling all the events (making a lot of resources renewable) then maybe u'd have a bit more to do but overall u're able to survive indefinitely forever. Overall there's also a permanent way to even obtain grass, if u're lucky enough there's a possibility u get enough to make a garden field which leads to grass since the crops can wither in summer. If u invest enough time u may actually make most of the stuff that u normally could in normal playthrough. In my 180 days experience of living in that ghost-hell I've got one conclusion - to be honest this challenge is even easier than surviving on the main land which is fine and a good differentiative point of playing the game normally.
*Now time to watch it till the end.*
(Due to Deerclops [and any other boss that is a Giant in game code] they CAN spawn there if a player was on a continent 120 ticks before their warning roars]. It happened to me due to first Bearger. I've asked a friend to join my world to see if my character was bugged. But well he spawned on the continent 1 minute later I've heard the roar and awhile later - he spawned on the lunar island.) - what helped me there was a boss timer that did let me know when a game is supposed to spawn a boss based on current day/etc.
Enabling events like Year of the Carrat give a lot aswell since it unlocks seed packages which boost the MASS grass production in summer. Not to mention that u can stockpile millions of lucky gold nuggets for other events to unlock even more materials. (and since its lunar island I doubt u would have to trade gold for carrats anyways LOL)
From my testing Wurt and Wilson are having any use with Wurt having a prime being due to better hunger values from the available food and Wilson just a step behind due to transmutations - best one being manure since its not obtainable without him and has a lot of uses on this island (takes rot in order to transmutate), especially if u have enabled OG farms in the game files since they are still here. Just not craftable normally, u can still spawn them or make em craftable if u shift some files. They are better due to the fact of always giving u grass instead of rot and u don't have to pay too much attention to them since all u have to do is just replant the seeds. Every other character fails off pretty quickly since u won't need Wigfrid for armor of any case due to gold being limited. Wx doesn't have anything to scan honestly. Maxwell has always high sanity with no fuel. Willow is inferior if u already made a grass farm. Wendy - well u can kill mobs without abigail its better to have more viable stuff to do than havign easier time doing the same thing. Wicker is also kind of inferior since u cannot do many magic items she has access to and Alchemy Engine is capable of handling 90% of her potential teh only usage would be for Wurt to lower her sanity since u can craft books for her. I'm not sure but I think that If its possible to craft tentacle book then Wurt would be even able to make merm king and flotrtifications so merms could be a thing due to low resource cost of these structures that only Wurt has access to. In this scenario if it's possible then Wicker could possibly have a use Webber is just a Wendy thing - its better to have more stuff to do than just having an easier time doing looped routine. Woodie falls aswell since axes are unlimited there. Wromwood falls since u aint gonna use living logs anyways. Warly would have a hard time with little no resources to cook his chef's specials so u cannot LET HIM COOK. Wortox is just a suicide due to double hunger need. Walter has little to viability since it could be just a quality of life character due to high sanity drain when hurt otherwise I don't see much use for him he doesnt enable more stuff to do/attend to do. and wanda well u ain't having stuff to make a use of her due to clocks.
If you somehow get an acorn of any tree (which is probably possible if u craft a boat to trigger a pirate raid and I'm 50% sure they drop an acorn) then with a winter feast event u can even obtain a walking cane/gears for the fridge and more useful stuff. If not then it is excluded I've not tested it actually.
*aaaand now time to reach 200th day*
a wigfrid and walter combo could have been nice for this i think. willow, wolfgang or wortox would also have their uses
I was sick in bed & saw this video on my recommended. I put it on & within 24 hours I watched all your videos. This might be one of my new favourite channels. 🥰
thats so sweet to hear, thanks a million!! :D
Great vid! I've already had the Monsoon season music stuck in my head all week so thank you for that lol
Playing DST makes me miss Shipwrecked sometimes so I gotta hear the soundtrack every once in a while :)
I'm surprised when I found that you only have 6 subs. This good content, keep it up 👍
Thank you so much! We're definetly gonna be doing more videos like this soon, keep an eye out :)
so it is pretty easy to use carrats and saladmanders to set off traps AND you get food on top. you just have to direct them into it. you can also roll a chance at a krampus sack by collecting birds and killing them all at once to spike your naughtiness
Incredibly quick to subscribe, I really like your style and hope to see more challenge videos from you in the future, if thats something you enjoy!!!
So glad to hear that! Thanks so much. And you bet, working on another challange right now :)
@@BiddoBamss That's super sick!! 'til then, I'll be catching up on your other videos!
I'm currently doing a single player challenge in don't starve - shipwrecked. The challenge is not stepping foot on any island aside from the starting island (all sailing allowed). The main attempt is to play with woodlegs, his unique items mean you can have a nearly full game progression but it's hard. I'm working towards eventually getting a lazy forager and get dodos close to shore. Keen to share season and survival details if anyone interested.
I know it’s been a year but did you manage to achieve your goals or nah?
@@adixtorg7402 Hey, I got busy with some other things. Yes I did manage to survive several years, but it was too much of a grind to get the lazy forager. For a good gameplay, you have to restart or find seeds that give you a few things on the starting island - necessary is pig hut, ideal is spider nest, bee hive. You also look for a large island, with a lot of bamboo, twigs, grass and berry spawns.
The first year is a very hard survival. Funnily enough the rare resource becomes rocks. The best way to get this, is wait until dry season and set up a safe area on the island. Run around here when the meteors fall, you can get a steady supply of rocks, flint.
You want to build up a little pig village to get them to help you farm buried treasure, they can all wear hats to do this. To get the lazy forager, the main holdup is thulecite. As far as I know, this doesn't spawn directly. It's necessary to first get 2x green gems, you can then deconstruct any of the thulecite suits (these spawn a lot). Then wait for an orange gem to spawn and craft it.
I think maybe making a team of maxwell, wormwood, wortox, wickerbottom and wilson could make something interesting? maybe even weeber? I mean i think wickerbottom could make an access to magic, and make the bookcase wiht wormwoods living logs, and wormwood could farm endlessly to make food, wortox coul heal the others and maybe even wilson could transmute a few things like rot into manure for wickerbottoms books or sticks that wicker grew for wood, Idk I still find it some flaws but there could be an attempt
Here is a realy solid stralegy:
Wickerbottom can be make The Everything Encyclopedia. With this book she can make and prototype lever 1 magic items . But first you must make a bookcase for this Book and you must need a living wood. I thinking how we can be get a living log. we must need a wormhood for this. But this have another cost wormhood can't heal itself so much in Lunar island becuse there is no tent . But we can use spider glides . So we can use book to making life giving amulet with maxwells extra starting fuels
i feel like an additional, possibly interesting, thing would be another player/friend to as as more or less a merchant. shows up every now and then and trades say the lacking grass for hound teeth. could add a reason for the teeth while you get stuff you cant get there, just a dumb idea lol
I love how you slowly lose sanity and became insane by this island
Seems like just wintering on the island would be a pretty good strat
Pretty cool video! You've earned my sub. Looks like the cave challange was more fun!
Wes main: I live here.
You dropped this: 👑
wow he really survived on the lunar island
Never change your pfp, I love it so much
I wont, dont worry :)
You could also eat rot to decrease sanity then eat cooked stone fruit to balance out your numbers
this is such a classic by now 🥰
I think you guys did good also i like your videos so i subscribe now
Thanks!! :)
I once made a base in the lunar islands and ended up getting trapped there cause my friend stole my boat
another victim to the moon
Well done hope the algorithm likes you
Thank you so much!!
I feel like I could site this as a study of how monotany makes humans go insane
A year later, I'm still moving counter-clockwise. Send help. Or grass.
@BiddoBamss ill tell you if i find any (im stuck here too )
Little tip, might be slightly convenient in normal runs, you can chase carrats into the anenemies to both set off the trap and kill them (haven’t finished the video will be embarrassed if this is in the video)
Living on the island indefinitely might actually NOT be possible. Remember that summer exists…
If you had a willow you would’ve had access to charcoal a lot earlier
Because literally the only other way is to get lucky with a fire hound or wildfire during summer
Oh yeah, forgot fire hounds exist! And yeah, Willow would of also been a better choice in hinsight :)
I would suggest allowing the use of boats, as long as no one goes to the mainland. Sure, its harder without it, but as you said, it became boring due to the limits. At least adding waterlogged, monkey island and the sea itself as source of resources, might have made more interesting options. Plus hopping from one lunar island to another shouldve been still technically "staying on lunar island"
You can start a fire with saladmander. But first you have to warm it up until it's ripe
Forgot about that, good to know!
algrotihm loves you!!!
Holy cow yeah, that was unexpected, thanks for stopping by! :D
I feel like there should be glass body armor that provides little protection and has low durability, but gives a speed boost
well id say it would be more like wes' balloon items, you get hit, they instantly break and damage you, maybe even in an aoe would be cool
I learned a valuable lesson today: I lack the intelligence to assert if a 30 minute video with no actual utility in the real world is worth 30 of my life. (I in fact was eating 5 out the 30 minutes, but still....)
Nice video, especially for your first one.
You earned 103rd sub :)
Holy crap, thank you so so much!! :D
Fun Fact: you could have made meatballs with the stone fruit and monster meat and it would have been a hunger gain
Can they get charcoal?
Did you watch the video? They get charcoal from the fire pit
@@DespOIcito oh yeah i forgot that mechanic
why do you have so little subscribers, this is great content
Means so much to hear that, thank you so much :)
this is more of how long can you survive without going insane irl
this was dope
How about doing lunar island but you take like the important stuff
40 unfertilized grass
Eye bone, glom glom
1 pig shelter
4bunnies
1 bunny hut etc.
If you had access to the seaweed you could a seaweed hat to lower your sanity
i guess the kelp hat didn't drain sanity quickly enough to counter the island sanity regen. but yeah they had a kelp farm of sorts
Shatter spiders can be kited. You could've used monster meat to decrease sanity/enlightenment. Fish sticks, pierogi, spider glands (even healing salves if you can get a red hound), lunar moths, wobster bisque, surf and turf, bunny stew, bacon and eggs, and california rolls are readily available for health restoration. Wearing armor doesn't matter, as you can just run away and heal (except for maxwell); if you really want armor, you can make wigfrid helmets, or wormwood's bramble husk. And if you play like this after 900 hours of game time, you either suck or have ascended all DST players and found the fun in the game again.
Fun fact: you can control your enlightenment by going into darkness at night. Just get back into light before Charlie strikes. But if you bounce back and forth all night it should drain your enlightenment pretty well
didnt he already use that?
Me trying to play Wurt in lunar island: ….What are these live carrots 😭
I'm not sure about this, but couldn't you trap deerclops in some way like with statues and then keep him there to farm insanity with his aura and not have to deal with gestalts?
Deerclops destroys statues, you would have to use something indestructible, or trick its aggro with something.
Deerclops despawns in spring
not even deerclops insanity aura can take away the enlightenment aura of the lunar island near the full moon
9:35 - you only need to fill it up to 75% for atleast a moment and you dont need to use logs.
Source - wiki and i also got charcoal from 3 fast tossing of poop
For deerclops you couldve made cobblestone roads
How would this work out in summer? Nitre being a limited resource, maybe that places a cap on the beat wave? Or does summer temp also differ?
challenge?
hard?
dying to deerclops?
lunar island isnt a challenge is just "im bored of green lands and evergreen trees" -_-
So the rules are: No boats, No Woodie.
Couldn’t you just use Wortox to teleport back to spawn
You could yeah, we should of mentioned it in the video but a general rule is to just not leave the island under any conditions :)
is this what that one guy who wrote "im blue" was talking about?
spring would be hard too
We are considering continuing/redoing the challange before we got owned by the Deerclops if people would like to see that :)
@@BiddoBamss new challenges would be fun too
Feels weird that there hasn’t been a comment in 6 months
the best trio is probably maxwell, willow, and wickerbottom.
if it was a squad wigfrid was a go
me and my pals who dont play anymore never got here, do the hounds still spawn?
nevermiund lol, the second i paused you said it in the video
nice!!
also, i wonder how different tig's experience would have been if they'd picked another character! which character/s do you think would have been best for this challenge now that you've played it?
Literally any other character then Maxwell would of been a better choice they said :D
I don't know if it's been done before, but what if you raced someone in adventure mode?
Ohoho, I like the sound of that.
Wait, can’t wortox teleport anywhere at will providing he has enough souls?
all i heard was chewing and mic cutting out due to my echo in my headphoness, but nice vid tbh
i love your voice
How was Maxwell farming nightmare fuel to recharge his book?
He couldn’t.
In character, I think he discovered it’s possible to go completely nuts while still being totally lucid.
Bad things happen when a wizard can’t cast.
Nice video
u guys should have chose wormwood and wigfridd
I think you meant to say "avoid taking as much damage as possible" not little 18:50
fun fact: i noticed that during editing but it was really late and i couldnt be bothered to re-record that line so i kept it in and hoped nobody noticed. oh well :D
They need to publish uncompromising dst for console
Why didn't you rotate around deerclops to not get hit?
I've been playing don't starve for 10 years now give or take, I'm still not used to the deerclops' attack being directional, since it wasn't always like that. :)
Is there a Biddobams fans discord?
Rock fruit? Is that a motherfucking JoJo’s reference
where did Biddo go

Bruh the normal game is uncompromising I'm dogshit at this game lol
ur good at telling story, you should try to get out of the dont starvce scenery, you have great potential in that, do some imersive lest play or so.
She? Isn't deerclops a dude?
Deerclops is referred to as both he and she depending on which character is talking
Some characters call her a he, some a she, but Klei (seemingly) confirmed it being a she in the descriptions of one the eyebrella skins. If we can consider that canon? :)
i did something similar as wurt only brought grass. I basically had a whole village when i finished lol.
That sounds fantastic, Wurt is one of my favourite characters so I gotta find a challange I can do with her soon :)
