I would make the argument that the laughing man story line IS the focus of the first series, and is essential to what it tries to do. To start with, I see the 1995 film as a deconstruction of the human psyche, where prosthetic bodies play a sort of extended metaphor for the constructs society places on us, which we learn to internalise and later manipulate, It's about how unoriginal our ideas of identity are because they're informed by the world around you. You are a product of your society and your thoughts are not your own. "Maybe there never was a real [you] in the first place". It's open to interpretation, but those kinds of thoughts feed me when I'm watching the film. Stand Alone Complex is not about this at all. It tackles a far more external question. What are the impacts of the net on culture and society? The idea of the Stand Alone Complex is a fascinating one. The laughing man is a meme with no discernible origin and becomes used a kind of digital mask that various groups adopt to further their own goals, be they hackers, cyber criminals, or corporations. The "original" laughing man plays the role of a vanishing mediator and after his prominent use of the idea it's initial purpose is subsequently undermined. Ultimately, what Stand Alone Complex predicted was the rise of groups like anonymous in a cyberpunk setting. To that end SAC achieved what it set out to do, and rather than being the introspective view on the psyche that the film was, SAC was a far more sociopolitical take on the Ghost In The Shell universe. Basically, there's still a lot to take from it, but this is precisely why I like SAC. It's more about the sociopolitical angle, and the politics in the world of SAC are so rich that there's still quite a lot to mull over. Yoko Kanno's score was phenomenal too.

A person who thinks ghost in shell is an action show Is embarrassing for our species ...
I totally stopped watching this review when the dude said that The laughing man is not the main theme of the first season. Dude, go back and do your homework again.
I don't agree on the part, that every episode can be seen at random. There is a large Plot that plays out which has direct influences into season 2. If you don't follow it from begin to the end, you will not understand what is happening.
The things that make Ghost in the Shell so good are for one the sheer amount of worldbuilding it goes through. The original manga by Shirow Masamune was very dry and technical, presenting as many ideas as possible, because it was created for the purpose of housing those ideas and worldbuilding. As such it is understandable many would find the show dry, especially younger viewers. But the worldbuilding aspect carries over, exactly through the manner in which the show is presented, very episodically. You get such an exact and complete presentation of the world it is set in, and that is what makes GitS so great. It wouldn't be half of what it is if it didn't take the time outside the main storyline to focus on all kinds of aspects of this world. As for the action, I found it extremely good and refreshing. Its not about flashiness, but rather about the tactical side. A crazy amount of time is spent showing how the troupe is organized and getting into position, while the execution is much shorter. I liked it, though I think it's up to the individual. The last thing is how good Shirow's ideas hold up. Considering the original was written in 1989, his ideas are incredibly well thought through and plausible. This is much more apparent in the manga though, as he writes pages upon pages of text detailing his concepts.
If you like Ghost in the Shell you might like Psycho - Pass it's written by the same guy who wrote Fate/Zero and Madoka Gen Urobuchi, and deals with similar ideas and themes.
Julian Morein GITS is more hard sci-fi set to a plausible future while Psycho-Pass is exploiting a dystopian scenario of the service industry. Similar setting but different focus.
Good review. I've seen the movie a long while back and thought it was okay though that may change on a rewatch. I still need to see Stand Alone Complex even though I own both seasons DVD may do that sometime later this year. Also really liked the joke at 3:20
Ghost is the greatest anime series to me for one reason, it deals with memes.. Standalone complex is another way of saying emergent memes, randomly occurring cultures that flourish. Reminds me of the current election and this alt right vs sjw stuff.I love motoko, she has been a full cyborg the longest in section 9 so she has minimum emotion and all about the job. What makes her interesting is what is left of her emotion, the attachment to her "ghost" and that ghost developed from the society she protects. But the twist is that the same society distroyed her true her humanity.
Just my opinion: The beauty of this show is that it in itself is a stand alone complex. A complex of different cases seemingly orchestrated by one mastermind, but in truth this events are happening because of different reason and done by different people forming one big chain of events. Just like the web.
While I respect your opinion, and I completely understand that some people could like this show more then others, I can't help but feel there some things you missed. (will this make you automatically love the show? probably not, but it may help you see it differently) *!SPOILERS! !SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!* *!SPOILERS! !SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!* *!SPOILERS! !SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!!SPOILERS!* (all this stuff is just my opinion) The 4 main media for GITS(manga, anime, ova, film) are 4 alt. universes, and take place at different times. they each have their own tone, genera, pacing, and writing style. For 'Stand alone complex' it's pretty much a cyber punk cop show, In both many cyberpunk stories, and cop shows, when there are multiple leads only a few of the main cast is focused on, you don't get a whole lot into the characters, but you are given a background episode or two. Just like with many cop shows the leader of the group, (in this it's pretty much motoko) The leaders job is to keep a cool head even when everything else goes wrong. in Motoko's mind this means showing no emotion. Her subordinate refer to her as the major out of respect, and even though she tries to hide it we do get a few glimpses into here mind. We see here happy, enraged, sad, and even caring when here team member become injured. And while we see her keep her "tough as nails" attitude when on the job, when she's not working you get to see a whole other side of here. when she's hanging out at home, or when she goes on the trip with arimaki to England. Personally I enjoy SaC Much more then I did the movies, but that may be of because of HOW I was introduced to the GITS universe. When I was was in highscool Naruto was just getting popular, and at that time the only anime I'd ever watched was shonen style stuff. I tired watching some of the older stuff like monster on adult swim, but was never able to get into it. then when looking around online I saw this thing called 'ghost in the shell' it was tagged with 'action, sci-fi, military, violence' all stuff I was interested in! So I checked it out, and I was absolutely blown away! Unlike pokemon, naruto, dragon ball, etc, it had a great style, great writing, great action and made you think, all at the same time! Something I'd never seen before in any media. The philosophy in each episode was bite sized enough, so that newcomers could enjoy it, but rich enough, so that even after 4 watches, I'm still picking up on things years later. that same year I I checked out the movie, and pretty much hated it. in any given 25 mins, it would me more tightly stuffed than even two episodes of SaC, and the overall plot was way more convoluted, and it was pretty much symbolism in every frame. But SaC still had me interested in the concepts of cyberpunk, transhumanism, and philosophy, so I began to explore more media related to those. SaC served as a gateway medium, and got me more interested in many other topics. it pretty much changed my life. years later, with much more under my belt, I was able to rewatch the films and pick up much more on the themes, and enjoy them more, but GITS:SaC still takes the cake in my option for it's accessibility. I just wish they could have make the episodes longer, having only a few mins at the start to set up the episodes story, make some feel really, ...convenient.. especially s1e18.. If you want to talk more about SaC, let me know, maybe we could skype, or do a colab video or something!
Josh Groff I've been tossing around the idea of doing some kind of time filler in between reviews, but the problem is that doing so would only make the reviews take even longer to make.
***** You could always do one as a test and ask for feedback. Plus, it would possibly add viewers that are just getting into anime, and expose them to classics they may have missed with your full length reviews. On the other side, it would give the rest of us a glimpse into shows we may not have heard about yet, or had a chance to watch.
I decided to check this anime out after watching this review and I have to be honest...I haven't been that engaged in an anime for a very long time. I literally watched 15 episodes in a row once the Laughing Man story began. But then again I am a fan of Metal Gear Solid and the two does have a lot of similarities. The first season to me was better than the second because it was more surreal and thought-provoking on a different scale than season 2. Not that season 2 was bad, it was just that season 1 was what I expected going in while season 2 is more about politics and government control. And for those who likes to complain that the show had a lot of filler, the show is called STAND ALONE COMPLEX for crying out loud. What are you expecting? And the anime was at least nice enough to tell you which episode is stand alone and which ones that are part of the arc, during the title-card where the episode-name is shown. That is at least better than other anime who doesn't even bother to tell you that the episode is not required for the larger story.
Hmm Gits might actually be one of my all time fav series ever no matter if is anime or not , but while i get why ppl prefer season 1 over 2, i arguably prefer season 2, but each to they own ,excellent show.
I have two words for you Psycho-Pass. I watched Stand Alone Complex and felt much the same way. Then I discovered Psycho-Pass, it has everything Ghost in the Shell has (original well developed sifi world, how criminal investigations change, even some pretty cool standalone stories) the mane difference is that Psycho Pass is full of character development, character drama, and incredibly psychological, (it's by the same person who created Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero). In light of this review I'm sure I won't be the only one to recommend it, so go check it out.
Also, you should watch Seraph of the End and Sailor Moon Crystal! Trust me, I wouldn't tell you to watch them if they were bad. Sailor Moon Crystal fixes pretty much everything wrong with the original.
I know I'm late to the party but, - yup - everything you didn't like is part of what I love about the show. So definitely just written for different target audiences. But I can see and respect where your reasoning. :)
while i liked your review and i agree with most of what you said. i think Motoko was far more explored as a character. Yes her character was builded very subtely but the character traits where there. We saw her childhood drama's, we knew her personal problem's with her cyborg body, we had some character traits like her playfullness with her fellow teamates (mostly batou) and her sometimes very explosive attitude, we even knew her sex patners even though that's mostly to speculation. i think you where juging the character on their likeability and not so much on how interesting they are. Also you forgot to mention the tachikoma's wich i thnik are the fourth most important character of the show. Finally i think the commentary on our MeMetic culture in the show is very interesting and almost on the level of the comentary on human nature that was made in the movie. i think is quite impresive how much commentary was made in that theme considering the fact that this anime was made well before the age of the internet (even though Metal gear solid 2 did it before it). I do not wish to bash your review as it was well done, but i wanted to give my thoughs on it.
Hey Shadow. I'm quite positive someone has already mentioned this anime but have you seen Psycho-pass? If not, then I highly recommend it. Although it looks like just a sci-fi, action cop show, there is a psychological element to the show that plays a huge part in the story and the character. Edit: I noticed someone has already commented about this anime in this video, but I'll still leave my comment here c:
Another awesome review, ShadowACS. I might finally watch the movies now from your impression of them. Also are Top 10's not coming back, I miss them (but I get that they take a long time to make, compared to reviews).
Great video! The episode where the guy becomes a tank was more about him trying to show his parents what he had now become in my opinion rather then getting revenge upon them. Also, what does ACS stand for?
Gordon Fields The song that plays in the build up to the man-tank (Kago, I think was his name) and his parents talks about transexuality. When Motoko fries his brain she gets a glimpse at some of his thoughts and feelings and she says that what she got was not "hate, revenge or even pride, but something different". Pretty much he felt complete, like his shell matched his ghost, so, yeah, you're right in your correction.
By the way Ghost in the Shell: SAC is heavily based on the manga not a spin-off from the movie. This is in a alternate universe and have nothing to do with the film.
Complicated? Every banal stuff is in this show over-explained too many times ugh. Emotionally dry? lol Didn't you saw that scene with Motoko in rage mode destroying that mecha robot with that big anti tank rifle! Or Tachikomas self sacrificing themselfs or that scene in hospital with young Motoko and Kuze... So many feels...
I really enjoyed the SAC but I would not recommend it to everyone because it might too heavy for a lot of people. People who don't like SAC have never read the manga because the manga is way too heavy for the average person. It's like a mini philosophy booklet. The show is very keen on detail and pushes the envelope by creating a TRUE cyberized future. The crimes that take place in the show are quite interesting. The show isn't simply just action, it tames down the philosophy and replaces it with more Sociological and Post-Modern questions.. Like the purpose of individuality, Govermentality, Simulation and Simulacra, Hyper-reality.
I agree with much of what you've said, I enjoyed this anime a lot but found it to be overly complex at times, Motoko was a very one note character only getting more interesting in episodes that dealt more with her backstory, although I don't know if I agree that this was an action heavy series as I found it to have less action than I expected. My favourite characters were also Batou, Aramaki & Togusa, the Tochikomas grew on me a lot too.
This show is more like a advanced reading class because it comes from a detective point of view like sherlock holmes. The reason its "Dry" because the viewer is used to simple short stories where the deep narrative is cut out just like how movies are compressed to 1 hour and 30 minutes
I haven't seen the movie- but I could easily follow the parts you claim to have had trouble with. Of course, I'll openly admit you have to be into various philosophies (transhumanism alone will give you at least one-third of the ideas, following modern conspiracy nutjobs also aids a bit), and a smattering of world religions helps as well. SAC definitely requires a lot from its viewers, especially with a lot of the character and reaching story arc development being on the subtle side.
I just finished the 1st season and I agree with you, except I don't consider SAC a good anime series, I didn't like it. I don't know if I should give a chance to 2nd GIG. Very good analysis!
Not everything is for everyone. One's reaction differences between the original movie and SAC really does sort the audience into two camps. Hey, there is more to the universe than SailorGokuGundam.
I also love the GitS movie. I liked the show a lot when I was younger and it was airing on adult swim but these days it does the really do it for me. I want to mention however that I still really like The Laughing Man (one of the coolest anime villains imo even if he isn't one of the best written) and they actually released a movie which compiles all those episodes into like a 2.5 hour chunk. Some of it plays out a bit differently than in the series (I think anyway. It's been a while.) but I think that as a story it works much better being presented in this way rather than being broken up by a bunch of episodic stuff like it is in the series.
The show has more political allegory than the duality themes of the movie. The episode where Batou describes the war crimes in Latin America is loosely based on Project MKUltra and Operation Condor. Also the American Empire is analogous to U.S foreign policy.
Yeah the anti-American messages were quite clear, but they probably did that so people could connect the events of the show with real life events such as the ones I pointed out. But reading more it says the show was being made when the Iraq War happened so they probably wanted to insert more political messages. They sure didn't use political correctness.
***** Oh my mistake then maybe it was later the Iraq parallels I noticed. 2nd GIG must have been the post 9/11 stuff they tackled as themes since that was 2004-2005. It's been a while since I've seen the series.
Hey I know I'm late and you probably get that alot but, if you still talk to Darkness Dragoon, please tell him thank you, about a year ago I started watching his videos and he felt exactly like the type of person I would be friends with and he had the same taste in animes and views on stuff and when he talked about Akira and Monster..it made me want to watch them and those 2 mangas litteraly changed my life, made me change my view I had on things , plus I was going threw some rough times and I have deep memories of those 2 mangas, and I thank him for showing them to me. In a way he made a difference in my life, as stupid as it sounds.. if he could just put his videos up again that would be great but I'm askign too much, ight cya
Man I felt like I was watching Bladerunner: The Anime (Talking about the 1995 movie). Just finished watching and I loved it. But I honestly didn't like the anime. I watched 3 episodes and I just don't feel like watching the rest. Could be it's episodic nature.
I enjoyed this vid but I think you missed alot of the show's nuances. It wasn't simply a cyberpunk action show, it implemented a hell of a lot more than that. Yes the movie was more avant garde and contained a shiton of visual motifs and philosophy but that doesn't mean the tv series didn't have that too. The biggest difference is that the tv series interspersed them among the action bits and semi-episodic structure while the movie was more condensed and by default more compact so it's more apparent.
His compliant wasn't that there weren't smart phycological parts in the show though, it was that compared to the movie he didn't feel as emotionally invested.
SilverVeil You clearly misinterpreted the review. I did not have any complaints about the show being more action-focused and never said that it didn't have ANY smart psychological stuff in it. In fact, I directly referenced several of the smart themes in the show.
***** you mentioned it's use of tech and it's integration with the society but you also made it sound like it's a show for people that like militaristic shows, which I would say is far from the truth. It's a more hard-sci setting with huge political intrigue than anything else.
SilverVeil Am I wrong? The fact that it's an action show about a team of badass cyberpunk cops pretty much seals the fact that militaristic action is part of the show's appeal. As I said in the review, that doesn't mean it's dumb, because it's not. It's just a big part of who it's intended for. If you hate militaristic action anime, Ghost in the Shell probably won't sway you.
For all it's worth I respect your opinion and can see where you're coming from, and I do think you weren't the target audience of the show because you missed a lot of stuff that I think would've changed your mind (like in the Individual 11 arc they tell the story of how the Major and Kuze had a colliding childhood with the plane crash). But my biggest problem with your video was how you pronounced the Major's name as muh-TOE-koe (it's pronounced MOE-to-KOE)
Dear ShadowACS, I've understood that aside from amine you also like watching movies. Could you pleas suggest a deaper movie (but not too deep like sey "2001 a space odissey". GOD was that dull) something between "fight club" and "2001". I would be very grateful if you replied!
Yeah you pretty much nailed my problem with this show, it doesn't seem to build up to its hype moments. Like you'll hear action music kick in and go "oh I guess this is the part where the climax happens." Funny enough it feels like a show made by a robot, where all the elements are really well done but it just doesn't get the audience emotionally invested in what's happening. Well except the last couple episodes of season 1 which managed to get me to finally care about the characters
First saw the series back around 2003 when Animax-asia was launched first time. I may not be the targeted audience but I still enjoyed it on my own level of understanding. Another smart futuristic police anime to see is Psycho pass. Please do review on both seasons.
You did not even talked about Stand Alone Complex , what it means . How things originate , the main objective of the anime . You right about one thing though . You are not a part of the intended demographic .
I remember back in 94 or 95 my local news paper adertised this movie it was a limited viewing but I never went I wish I would have , I was 15 years old into other stuff
emeraldmanifoy A lot of the episodes online have that problem. Try sending a complaint to the site you watched it on. After that, youtube and amazon have the all the dubbed episodes put together, as far as I know.
***** okay finding out that we use the same website for watching anime has made my day. I actually thought no one even new of this sites existence- it has everything on it and no one i know has heard of it
Major Motoko Kusanagi is the BEST!!! Blasphemy!!! Dx why would they address her by name in the field when she's their commanding officer?!? O_o she demands respect!
For how much I loved that show initially, I have to admit the second half is fairly disappointing. Then again, L is my favorite character, so I'm very biased. The OVA ending did somewhat redeem it though.
Rorie Murdoch Well, the class periods are forty minutes longer, which kinda sucks. Aside from that, it's a great experience to both practice the language and meet a ton of great new people. Plus, Japanese food is amazing.
I'm Quarter way through watching Steins Gate, Super Sonico and Yugioh 5ds. Ghost in the shell looks good to watch Future wise. The only anime military i mainly know are from FMAB, Xillia, Graces, and Abyss. I really don't know about Military Esc animes. Seeing as i never took an interest in Army/FPS in general. Third person alright though control wise. I'm still with RPGs and i'm Sticking with it. I've only seen Androids and Cyborgs in Beyblade V Force, Teen Titans and DB, DBZ and DBGT
Oh. Cool! :) I'm 19. Can I ask I was watching bad anime dubs I came across this anime called Sextra credit and the dub was so bad it made Sailor moon look like fullmetal Alchemist! Could you do a ticket to Damnation on that poorly dubbed anime and to torture you more watch it dubbed.
+FlyingAce1016 You can find them either on Amazon (US or JP) or from CD Japan. Be warned, they are pricey and don't come with english subs, only japanese subs and audio, and english dub. You can get them either in complete season boxes or Part 1/Part 2 per season boxes.
I need to watch this! Also Just a heads up; Fantasy Kaleidoscope Ep 5: The Flower Incident~ Fan-dub and English sub had been released! ruclips.net/video/RNVxmThy3nM/видео.html

psycho pass sucks tho
A truly classic masterpiece.
Good review. I've seen the movie a long while back and thought it was okay though that may change on a rewatch. I still need to see Stand Alone Complex even though I own both seasons DVD may do that sometime later this year. Also really liked the joke at 3:20
A new season of anime and a ShadowACS video... life is good.

Thriller anime? Oh snap.
While I respect your opinion, and I completely understand that some people could like this show more then others,
I can't help but feel there some things you missed. (will this make you automatically love the show? probably not, but it may help you see it differently)

(all this stuff is just my opinion)
The 4 main media for GITS(manga, anime, ova, film) are 4 alt. universes, and take place at different times.
they each have their own tone, genera, pacing, and writing style.
For 'Stand alone complex' it's pretty much a cyber punk cop show,
In both many cyberpunk stories, and cop shows, when there are multiple leads only a few of the main cast is focused on, you don't get a whole lot into the characters, but you are given a background episode or two.
The philosophy in each episode was bite sized enough, so that newcomers could enjoy it, but rich enough, so that even after 4 watches, I'm still picking up on things years later.
that same year I I checked out the movie, and pretty much hated it.
in any given 25 mins, it would me more tightly stuffed than even two episodes of SaC, and the overall plot was way more convoluted,
and it was pretty much symbolism in every frame.
But SaC still had me interested in the concepts of cyberpunk, transhumanism, and philosophy, so I began to explore more media related to those.
SaC served as a gateway medium, and got me more interested in many other topics. it pretty much changed my life.
years later, with much more under my belt, I was able to rewatch the films and pick up much more on the themes, and enjoy them more,
but GITS:SaC still takes the cake in my option for it's accessibility.
I just wish they could have make the episodes longer, having only a few mins at the start to set up the episodes story,
make some feel really, ...convenient.. especially s1e18..
If you want to talk more about SaC, let me know, maybe we could skype, or do a colab video or something!
Hey Shadow, would you ever consider doing first reactions of airing anime? If not, why so?
That would definitely help fill time between series reviews. Gotta keep us greedy subs happy! :)
Josh Groff I've been tossing around the idea of doing some kind of time filler in between reviews, but the problem is that doing so would only make the reviews take even longer to make.
***** thats a good idea, if its not full content you could just talk over a picture, to save you time.
***** dont do that, keep the analysis
When's the next Ticket To Damnation? I think it should be on the show Wannabe Spartansex or something like that.
Hey, one of the few animes that I actually saw before you. Amazing. I loved this show too. Can't wait to see what the next one is.
Coriander Stone YES I agree c:
psycho pass is terrible lmaooo
Could you review Higurashi for me? I just started it and I want to hear your opinions on it. Keep up the good work!
Ningy909 Already reviewed it.
Yeah...I noticed literally thirty seconds after I left that comment...oops...
I love your videos, by the way!
Also, you should watch Seraph of the End and Sailor Moon Crystal! Trust me, I wouldn't tell you to watch them if they were bad. Sailor Moon Crystal fixes pretty much everything wrong with the original.
Great review. I'll check the Anime & the movie out sometime. It's looks like it could be one of my favorites.
i hope you review Monster, Terror in Resonance or From the New World in your next analysis.
I know I'm late to the party but, - yup - everything you didn't like is part of what I love about the show. So definitely just written for different target audiences. But I can see and respect where your reasoning. :)
This is one of my favorite series of all time. Great review.
while i liked your review and i agree with most of what you said.
i think Motoko was far more explored as a character.
I do not wish to bash your review as it was well done, but i wanted to give my thoughs on it.
whats the song in the background at 4:00
Laxikan123 To be fair, I didn't think the second movie was that good. But I definitely recommend the first.
Hey Shadow have you seen the Nostalgia critic's review of the Matrix Trilogy?
Great video! The episode where the guy becomes a tank was more about him trying to show his parents what he had now become in my opinion rather then getting revenge upon them. Also, what does ACS stand for?
Gordon Fields The song that plays in the build up to the man-tank (Kago, I think was his name) and his parents talks about transexuality. When Motoko fries his brain she gets a glimpse at some of his thoughts and feelings and she says that what she got was not "hate, revenge or even pride, but something different". Pretty much he felt complete, like his shell matched his ghost, so, yeah, you're right in your correction.
Decatonkeil I was not sure if your comment was going to be an attempted at a put down when I started reading, thanks for the input.
Definitely agree with the plot being over complicated, I actually came here looking for an explanation
By the way Ghost in the Shell: SAC is heavily based on the manga not a spin-off from the movie. This is in a alternate universe and have nothing to do with the film.
Nice review guy. I strongly recommend that you do a Nodame Cantabile anime review. You won't regret it.
+xeraph02 I never said that there were no emotional scenes in the show. Just not as much as I'd like.
+ShadowACS Did you hear what happened to President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata? He died of bile growth infection (Cancer). RIP Iwata...
Back with a bang.
Not everything is for everyone. One's reaction differences between the original movie and SAC really does sort the audience into two camps. Hey, there is more to the universe than SailorGokuGundam.
Well said.
***** I did notice that the show had a pretty distracting hate boner for America.
Yeah the anti-American messages were quite clear, but they probably did that so people could connect the events of the show with real life events such as the ones I pointed out. But reading more it says the show was being made when the Iraq War happened so they probably wanted to insert more political messages. They sure didn't use political correctness.
*****
Actually, it was being made before that. The Iraq War was 2003, SAC was 2002. It was probably in production from 2001 or even 2000.
His compliant wasn't that there weren't smart phycological parts in the show though, it was that compared to the movie he didn't feel as emotionally invested.
memark8 maybe you need to rewatch the vid then, bc that wasn't the only thing he said.
Have you ever tried D.Gray Man? It's one of my favorites
Erik Jelle Donnie Darko.
ok, thank you very much! After I watch this i'll either bless you or curse you. :)
Erik Jelle Hope you like it. It's one of my favorite movies.
Will you review Blood plus?
Awesome review!
The guy who had is brain transplanted into a tank was NOT trying to take revenge on his family. Did you actually pay attention to the episode?
Motoko. Moe-toe-koh. She didn't get a cyber body for someone to disrespect her name
First saw the series back around 2003 when Animax-asia was launched first time. I may not be the targeted audience but I still enjoyed it on my own level of understanding.
Another smart futuristic police anime to see is Psycho pass. Please do review on both seasons.
I'm really curious as to what your opinion of Tokyo ghoul is, I love it.
The movie was about the self, the show was about society
so wat would be the very best anime u've seen then?
+Mac n' peas Fullmetal Alchemist
really? fullmetal alchemist? :| im not quite sure how to respond to that
Mac n' peas
It's fine if you don't agree. It's just my opinion.
+ShadowACS The original or Brotherhood?
Winterwacko Reborn
Both.
great job again ShadowACS :)
You did not even talked about Stand Alone Complex , what it means . How things originate , the main objective of the anime . You right about one thing though . You are not a part of the intended demographic .
And Tachikomas? They were the best and most developed characters.
I remember back in 94 or 95 my local news paper adertised this movie it was a limited viewing but I never went I wish I would have , I was 15 years old into other stuff
It's a 90s anime at the time things were different and it was all about evolving anime to what it is now
This anime came out in 2002.
The movie
You should review "My romantic comedy isn't as expected" it's a rather enjoyable romantic comedy.
4:15 - 4:20 That's what the new season isn't doing and why it just doesn't work as well.
I tried watching MAR online but its Lip Sinking wasn't good.
I don't know what caused lip sinking problem though.
emeraldmanifoy A lot of the episodes online have that problem.
Try sending a complaint to the site you watched it on. After that, youtube and amazon have the all the dubbed episodes put together, as far as I know.
***** Cancel that, youtube took them down. It seems watchcartoononline has the first thirty episodes fixed, at the very least.
***** I didn't know that when i 1st started watching them. Thank you.
***** Thanks again.
***** okay finding out that we use the same website for watching anime has made my day. I actually thought no one even new of this sites existence- it has everything on it and no one i know has heard of it
The laughing man is the main story of the first season
This story line reminds me so much of the book "Feed"
Major Motoko Kusanagi is the BEST!!! Blasphemy!!! Dx why would they address her by name in the field when she's their commanding officer?!? O_o she demands respect!
This falls more with kite, genocyber, and akira
Ooooooh.....a thriller huh?
Finally, you're going to be reviewing Death Note, right?!
For how much I loved that show initially, I have to admit the second half is fairly disappointing. Then again, L is my favorite character, so I'm very biased. The OVA ending did somewhat redeem it though.
Rail-Gun I thought the same thing XD
3:21 don't you mean dr. wahwee _ megaman 8
HUH THERE WAS A MOVIE FOR GITS? WOW DID NOT KNOW THAT?
Since it's summer, does that mean more reviews?
***** I'm currently attending school in Japan, so I've still got a month of school left. :/
***** wow really thats awesome! How is it?
Rorie Murdoch Well, the class periods are forty minutes longer, which kinda sucks. Aside from that, it's a great experience to both practice the language and meet a ton of great new people.
Plus, Japanese food is amazing.
That actually sounds like a dream come true. Yes Japanese food is amazing. So is this your final year or do you have another year or two to go?
Rorie Murdoch
It's only a four-month study abroad, and I'm actually heading back in a couple weeks.
Could you please do a review of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I'm a really big fan and I'd really like it if you reviewed it. :)
Batou is completely human.
+RozzaPWI Huh? No, he's definitely a cyborg. At least in Stand Alone Complex and the first two movies.
Cops cant do their kind of work. FYI this series connects the Movie and Manga into an anime series
The show is closer to the manga than the movie.
great video!
I honestly want shadowACS to look at jojo's bizarre adventure. Its a pretty awesome series.
You know I wonder what he will think of akame ga kill
I looked up this anime series and most of it is movies. Out side of the S.A.C. series that is.
Oh.....Looks like he won't like Akira after all......
You're mispronouncing Motoko's name. Mo-to-ko.
Exactly, Japanese pronounce each vowel the same, there isn't more than one sound for O, or A, or I for example.
@@MatthewFutrell ,Okay.
Great review and agree on many points. Never thought of it as the masterpiece some seem to describe. Good not great.
What age are you? Just curious.
***** Old enough.
Oh.......ok I'm guessing you are between the ages of 16 to 25 between those two.
***** I'm 20, actually. :P
Oh. Cool! :) I'm 19. Can I ask I was watching bad anime dubs I came across this anime called Sextra credit and the dub was so bad it made Sailor moon look like fullmetal Alchemist! Could you do a ticket to Damnation on that poorly dubbed anime and to torture you more watch it dubbed.
Id love to see an evangelion+ end of eva video
I have both seasons on blu ray and its one of my all-time favourites.
how do you get it complete on blu ray? do you have to get all those volumes or is there box sets of whole seasons somewhere?
+FlyingAce1016 You can find them either on Amazon (US or JP) or from CD Japan. Be warned, they are pricey and don't come with english subs, only japanese subs and audio, and english dub. You can get them either in complete season boxes or Part 1/Part 2 per season boxes.
Ahh thx!
+FlyingAce1016 It's almost certainly going to be cheaper to try and get it from Amazon.jp, though, they tend to have the best prices.
SAC was better than the boring movie.
LN2233 but the "boring" movie is a classic
LN2233 *Bolding your text does not make what you're saying sound more important.*
HalfMoon γρ
Am I supposed to know this guy?
***** well its better if you dont, but he lurks around these anime related comment sections a lot, so it would be understandable if you recognized him
HalfMoon γρ Ah. Gotcha.
Megaman reference?
David Timmer Yep.
Motoko not Matoko.
Who cares
I need to watch this!
Also Just a heads up; Fantasy Kaleidoscope Ep 5: The Flower Incident~ Fan-dub and English sub had been released! ruclips.net/video/RNVxmThy3nM/видео.html
best anime ever
Makes me laugh how such a sophisticated well thought anime like ghost in the shell stand alone complex goes over peoples heads >_>
Do Evangellion
led by Dr. Wily XD
this guy doesn't know what he is talking about
can you do Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji ty
MOHTOH-KOH, not MUH-TOH-KOH.
Clearly you couldn't have possibly spent your time better doing anything but making that comment.
Of course not. Pronunciation is important and anybody who's seen the film and the franchise should know how her name is pronounced.
can you think of a good harem anime (not by key) that is not ecchi I dare you
Isn't that essentially like asking for a good action anime without fight scenes, or a horror anime without blood?
