A friend recommended your site and so far I think it’s great. I retired a year ago from a life as an electrical contractor and often wondered what I’d do with my time after retirement. A 32’, 1985 Island Gypsy trawler fell into my lap and I spent my first year fixing it up. I’ve learned a lot about everything from restoring teak wood to Ford Lehman Diesel engines but am always looking to learn more. So far I’m seeing you work on high end boats but I’d like to see something closer to home. Aren’t there any older junkers around there asking for help?
Thanks for choosing to watch our boat chaos! Share us with your friends. We work on all kinds of boats new and old just depends on what our clients need. Great video as always!! So frustrating when a client can’t grasp the recommendations of us professionals. Lately, I’ve just be flat out refusing to take on jobs because I feel like it would just be stealing money. The quality of so many products, and I don’t even care of the brand names anymore has gone so far downhill that people have such a hard time grasping that something only a few years old, that money would be better spent putting it towards a new one with a warranty.
David we refuse do work all the time too cause it’s not worth it! Especially if the customer wants us to take short cuts that would result in not a good repair. Yes the quality of parts is part of the problem things don’t last as long!
I worked in the field for 40 years came across some bad ones I suggested soaking cotton balls in vanilla extract had some good results maybe you can try on a sample I would actually put them inside the freezer and refrigerated just maybe give it a try
@@WillFixThat sorry team, never done it myself but know that charcoal is good for removing odors, moisture etc., so I thought I'd check to see if you guys had tried it, or just recommend that you do! 😉 Worth a try!
Almond extract wipe it down leave door closed with extract in there worked for me left anchovie bait in freezer for winter a tad bit ripe in the spring lol
It’s funny or actually sad how badly someone wants to buy a boat. I call it “I want it blindness”. A friend wanted to upgrade to a bigger boat and thought it was a deal. He told me to have a look at it. I motored over to it and before we were a hundred feet away I could tell it was a goner. The water line was bow down so I could tell there was a lot of water forward and likely been there a while. Since the approach was from the water, we were eye level with the fiberglass decks which were badly buckled and warped from rot and water intrusion. My buddy kept saying he could fix it. I told him that the demolition costs would exceed the price, please listen to me, run, don’t walk. He finally listened.
02:39 That chip in that skeg is nothin'! Good greif. I have 1/2 skeg left... after 36 years of use. Only hit 2 underwater boulders in 36 years. If anyone says they've ''never run aground or hit anything,'' they;ve only been boating for a few hours.
One more suggestion. Get some throw away face mask and rub some mentholatum on the inside. You can also put some in your nose, works also, but a bit messy. Does a great job killing the smell, while you work around bad smells. A strong gag reflex helps also😂
Thanks we have lots of face masks but they were at our office. We even have n95 masks for paint! Appreciate the feedback good thing this doesn't happen often.
Tooth paste, smeared on the inside of the Refrig. leave for a day then clean off. for info, Toothpaste companies spend BILLIONs on how to remove odors, use it on commercial boxes. good luck and GREAT videos
Matt you can never get rid of the smell only solution replace the unit up here in the north hydro goes out owners return after a week and well .tryed everything just replace
You're exactly right ... both of these owners unfortunately have learned some very hard lessons. These mistakes cost both of them thousands. Matt was all tore up over this ladies .... not a fun call
I had cigar smell in the air vents my BMW. I found a guy in Charlotte who used an ozone machine for a few days to remove the smell. I was satisfied with the results. I'm not sure if that would have helped you in your case.
a company called pdp (pro detail products) has a bomb and such for car interiors from people who smoke and what not... Its a great product. Rhey also carry a line of detailing for aluminum. acid which cleans and polishes works good....
Had great success with baking soda,in the box,or in tupperware containers, left in area,it’s inexpensive, but the 16 pound container in Walmart, put containers around the boat!
Its hard with a fridge since customers need it ASAP for their food. It was cleaned out good but as you heard us say it made the whole boat stink. We installed the temporary ionizer yesterday and within an hour it smelled much better we will see.
Try quaternary ammonium, known as “quats” a lot of restaurants and bars use quats instead of bleach as a health department approved sanitizer, but it’s also a very good deodorizer. Try to get the powder or tablets and mix it stronger than a no-rinse solution. Ask a couple friendly restaurants and bars and I’m sure they’ll give you some to try

left it about 2/3 days
Baking soda is great for smells..hang a sock filled with baking soda in there and it absorbs the smell.
Done that before it does work fast enough for fish smell.
Never seen those yellow lower unit fixtures in any of the marine catalogs (Landnsea, Pro or Bob Kerr) who makes them and where can I purchase one.
I can’t find them any more either. Bought them 15 years ago. Plastic and can be disassembled.
After physically cleaning the interior with Clorox Cleaner, Lysol Spray worked on my land-based refrigerator/freezer. Blast it and close the doors.
Great thanks for sharing!
try a couple of baking soda powser it soaks in odor pretty good. Good day !!!
Thanks for the tip!
Shouldn’t the A/C be left in to keep mold from growing?
Yes always but up to clients wishes! Sometimes they don’t even have it on when it feels over 100’ here.

Im not sure I’ll have to ask Matt … have you used it with results?
Yes works well in a smaller area on certain odors
Those look like ice-pick marks on the refrigeration plate that the refrigerant leaked out of.
There is no safe way to defrost with sharp objects.
Exactly if people would only listen when you tell them.
Try a couple of small open bowls of vinegar overnight.
What’s this do?
Make a paste out of vinegar n baking soda.
Will keep that in mind next time.
