    I post this on every IFAK video I remember to.
    If youre not in a warzone with people who have already been screened and denied over diabetes... you need glucose gel in your med kit.
    Glucose gel comes in packets with 15g of glucose. 15g of glucose is the suggested dosage for hypoglycemic diabetic shock. And gel (unlike tablets) can be administered to an unconscious patient.
    Add glucose gel packets to your med kit. You will be around more diabetics than GSWs anywhere outside the military.

    Hi Sam, I love you videos and am becoming a paramedic myself, I’m extremely excited. I am wondering if you’d review the survivewear first aid kit. They’re a basic fire aid kit with a lot of times I’m them. I think they’re better for people with less medical training. I know it doesn’t have a lot to do with trauma, I would greatly appreciate a review from you on that product. You can find them on Amazon if need be. Thank you again for the vids and inspiration.

    While I appreciate the color coding, I wonder what percent of people are colorblind and won’t be able to take advantage of it? I see they also set it up so you can make one side vertical and the other side horizontal bungees. This way no matter wether someone is colorblind or not, they have an indicator (even works for someone that is blind).

    • @tribalismblindsthembutnoty124
      @tribalismblindsthembutnoty124 3 года назад

      Types of colorblindness: Blue, Red, Blue+Red, Zero Colors. Within those types, people are different levels of each. For some only dark blues look black, and they can see all the other blues.

    • @EverettVinzant
      @EverettVinzant 3 года назад +1

      @@tribalismblindsthembutnoty124 I’m not saying I’m the grand high know it all… I’m just saying that having horizontal on one side and vertical on the other means that if you are describing the pack to someone you can use that as the cue instead of the colors… Maybe we could figure out another way…

    Its amazing to me that people feel the need to carry all this stuff just to leave there house. 2 guns, a flashlight, a knife and an IFAK. I get having a CCW but its starting to get insane with the shit people want to carry every day now.

    • @bellarosegroup
      @bellarosegroup 3 года назад

      Depends what your everyday life is like on what you feel is necessary to carry around. A logger in the middle of nowhere probably wants first aid on their person.

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  3 года назад +6

      Why do you understand CCW and not medical supplies? More people get hurt then shot everyday so wouldn’t that make you want to prioritize first aid supplies over a gun?

    • @hihfty
      @hihfty 3 года назад

      @@PrepMedic I actually do prioritize first aid over a firearm. I think most medics carry a first aid bag in their personal vehicle and is almost a standard in our field. I personally feel that IFAK’s for EDC is a sales ploy. You would never NPA or chest seal yourself. They were designed for another soldier to grab your own personal IFAK and then render aid until a true medic bag came into service. The way people are using them now is hardly practical and almost won’t be effective.

    • @Who-Uhm-Cares
      @Who-Uhm-Cares 3 года назад

      Well for people who are around the elements of injured people and or police/ex police officers. They know first hand what reality is like. Most people carry a knife, flashlight, and a handgun. Truck edc is where you leave the Medical stuff and Bigger guns.

    • @hihfty
      @hihfty 3 года назад

      @@Who-Uhm-Cares I am aware of what reality is and the need to be prepared. I am stating that by design, an IFAK is not designed to be used outside of combat situations and operating in squads. An IFAK is designed to carry chest seals, tourniquets, pressure dressings and airway adjuncts which are placed on yourself in case you are incapacitated. By design they contain the less readily available items the need to be quickly deployed. An IFAK and a mini self use first aid kit are completely different things with different deployment criteria. You would never be able to chest seal yourself or use an airway adjunct on yourself. Its predatory for commercial companies to sell people IFAK's and pitch them as "stop the bleed" kits when they're not.
