- Studio Pressure (Photek) - The Water Margin (Original Mix).
Excellent 1995 Jungle track from Studio Pressure, alias for Photek. Quality production as per usual from this guy. - Видеоклипы
How is it, when we look back at the mid 90s, that the technology seems pretty primitive compared to today, yet the music still sounds more futuristic than anything coming out today?Paradox.....🤔😬
Synths, samplers have not fundamentally changed, it’s just the speed at which you can organise sounds and music that has advanced. That advancement has probably taken away some of the early creativity.
The tempo was much slower back then, it allowed space for more creative drum patterns and chord sequences/samples.
No matter what anyone younger says, its way easier to make d&b/jungle now than it was back then making these tunes(all of d&b/jungle 93 through 95) even more amazing when the limited tech is taken into consideration.
Creativity is born through obstacles - problem solving and imagination are the artist’s gateway to expression. Necessity breeds worth.
Convenience cannot replace artistry @@barnabyhatch5729
My first born child was conceived to this tune!... We aptly named him Rupert
Awesome! Would it be rude to ask if he's also a Redhead?
@@mickeybeam No lol, but he has the fiery temperament and a leftfield taste in music
that's really nice. he's got good music ingrained into his being
you made it on the rave comments twitter account. good job man
Should of named him Margin
holy grail of drum and bass right there, what flow and groove. Amazing sound choice. Photek is a musical genius and were damn lucky he was into DNB - i was at the age to hear this when it came out at 21 yrs of age - feel so honoured 🙏
So many well made tunes came out of this era, many under the radar.
True dat
@@Qu0thTheRaven a high level of Brilliance
I heard it when it came out and raved to it in 95 my selecta..this is not an obscure plate tbh
True but it’s not dead dread or helicopter common either 😊
One of the best music makers I ever heard! Unbelievable how his music does not age!
What a tune!! Everything you need. Slightly mysterious, then kicks like a mule😃.
Mind boggling how creative, rhythmic, and on point this is...
+Jacen Solo the best that ever did it
Aphex Twin's Twin lol
@David Mander he was. I remember his Certificate 18 label putting out his early productions. Well ahead of the game and instrumental in pushing the drum and bass sound forward. He just got better and better.
@@dan.j.boydzkreationz aphex twin is shite compared to Photek
Photek took 2 other great producer's under his wing and on his certificate 18 label. They are none other than Source Direct! The music they all produced was phenomenal.
The purest drum and bass track ever made.
Such an amazing piece. Goosebumps.
One of the best tunes I ever owned. The entire Photek series was amazing around this period.
Believe it or not, I first heard Photek's name on the Jon Peel show.
john peel legend
I would believe it, Peel seemed to have an instinct for the best output in every genre. I was once sitting in a car, stoned after work, and he played "Wicked Every Time" by Jaco, and just said "I do like that". Give it a listen! Jump-up ragga jungle, absolutely nailed.
the whole stable of artists @ metalheadz is amazing! especially Photek and Dillinja
the breakdown and the amen kicking in is amazing classic track, if you didnt get up and dance when that amen kicks in nothing will!
every time I hear this song it remindz me of the indoor waterfall I'm going to have running round my zen bedroom when I get my new gaff. Any tinnitus sufferers out there take my advice indoor waterfalls help.
+Jon Gyford so do earplugs when you go out... ;-)
A masterpiece, how many rewinds this ting got!
F***ing Masterpiece! Beautifully crafted... Atmospheric.. Musical.. And absolutely tearing!.. Perfection! Nu skool DnB can only dream of matching this masterpiece.
Stunner of a tune
Artist in motion, great tune
This is what a hearty bass should drum like...
Classic thriller!

Serious bad boy business this one
Yeah man mass media bass. Man Love you.
Cracking tune, using a tune from 1993 at a lower key, DJ Vibes - Obsession :)
lol it's really using Obsession.
It's just the riff in Water Margin plays the same three notes as the riff in Obsession. It won't be a conscious thing but I get what you're saying. 😊
Lotta samples from “Say it”! Love it!
What's "Say It!"?
Been wondering for years what tune was called! Absolutely a head of its time...
Murderous!!
This is a great tune for real, but for me its the drop on Pressure 3 that is PHOTEK. Thats why I love him.
I'll say it.. genre defining
He made it too good.
What a banger
masterpiece
Water temple vibes
Found and lost this CD decades ago. Found an m4a. Of the whole album as one track, a month ago.
Bring Back The Truper

I like how you put the artis in brackets.
SUPRISE AMEN!
HADOT......HADOT HADOT
pure genius, still sounds fresh as fuck
Ah what a great place to land here!!!! (".,.")
this track is so deep that even Megaladon listens to it with headphones on...naturally!
On a sidenote I used to watch the 'Water Margins' with me Dad many moons ago - madcap programme! There doesn't seem to be any direct sampling of this so I wonder what inspired the title???
Amazing tune with a smooth intro, wonderful musicality. Yes sir..
I thought I might reply 13 years ago u posted are u still here lol
Gachet AWOL!!! 🔥🔥🔥
There's also a version with the Scratch Perverts featuring.
That was.....DAYUM!!!! :XD:
ım getting high without any drug
Thhat sounds like the birth of deep groove ..not sure about jungle though a pattern, drowned drum and bass , a mash of power move s that's decomposed???
Amazing
This on a Dove.
Seminal tune.
if you know d+b then this is an absolute killer tune!! Amy haters obviously don't like the drum and bass!! one of my favourite tunes just how maroc it should be!!
Reminds me of the Ape Escape soundtrack
How do you like those fucking eggs!!!!
Why it is not on Spotify?
Rupert doing his shit
Sound of a shishiodoshi
nebunie..
Where can i download that high-pitched vocal sample that's in so many jungle tunes?
1min 34sec exactly is the vocal, that breakdown is known as the ''think break''
riskybusiness80 Thanks a tonne!
Does anyone know the break used in the beginning??
@obitune been searching for years for this. Big big thank you mate :)
Transfixed
think break is even better than the amen imho
@junglejay2k
Maybe Some Nu Skool Jungle can get close, but not surpass this mighty track.
