  • The immense growth of esports in recent years has made millionaires out of some of it’s greatest players - and at ages far younger than most would imagine possible.
    We decided to take a closer look at the distribution of total lifetime esports tournament earnings across countries and games, specifically: League, Dota 2 and CS:GO. Keep in mind these numbers are tournament winnings ONLY.

    Note: Imagine how much money is earned when you add salary, sponsors, merchandise, and fan donations on streams...

  • @danxu7642
    @danxu7642 7 лет назад +31

    In China, most of the players earn the majority of their income from streaming(that includes fans gifts and deal with streaming platform). Some of the retired players also have online store where they sell apparels, peripherals and snacks. Two famous example will be Misaya, former WE captain, and PDD, former IG top lane player. They have contract with streaming platform that worth over millions of dollar each year. Combined with fans gifts and online store income, they can afford the most luxurious and expansive things like Aston Martin and villas in China.

  • @logan3322

    Imo this doesnt say anything at all, considering its only tourny winnings and thats not the majority of earnings by players

    • @lostaunaum
      @lostaunaum 7 лет назад +42

      FullscreenFilms well the video did specify tourney winnings only. It's impossible to check all the collective earnings of a player since sponsorships, streaming revenue, salaries and broadcasting events are mainly kept private. I do know that the most popular players are in most cases millionaires.

    • @danielverweij8854
      @danielverweij8854 7 лет назад +14

      Then there is no use for this video is it? Or it should be called:
      "How much prizes were given out to players in esports tournaments & who won the most"
      But yea, thats isnt attractive and wont get views. There are large differences between the games on how its main leagues are run, its not accurate at all how much money esports players make.
      It will just result in argument between communities of each game

      but Samsung does support SKT with housing, chef, food, clothing, coaches, travel money, etc. So most SKT players keep all the prize money plus sponsorships, advertisment, and salary contract Samsung. So I wouldn't be surprised if faker has more than 3 million

    • @Snrust

      While I agree their tournaments need more prize money, players are given an undisclosed but apparently high amount from sticker capsules. This extra money supports pros in general instead of a select few.

      dota released a compendium that players can buy and 25% goes to the price pool

    • @ej1635
      @ej1635 7 лет назад +4

      why dont they do the same with CS? there are more diehard CS fans than dota fans, so the prizepool would been huge if they made a compendium for CS awell..

    • @ej1635
      @ej1635 7 лет назад +2

      All i can say is that a compendium for CS would be profitable for valve, not to the same level as dota Maybe, but still high. so i think its worth a try atleast. U need to remember that CS has a huge fanbase in Dubai, Qatar etc.. and those fuckers arent shy with their money use either.

    DotA 2 players earn much more because Valve has created a self growing price pool (with +X% to price fome battle pass). Riot could do the same but I guess they are too greedy for that step.

  • @cyberbetica
    @cyberbetica 5 лет назад

    You're assuming players are actually getting these prizes. The org they are employees of win those prizes, and I very much doubt that these prizes are split equally to the actual players. Yeah they probably get a nice bonus, but just splitting these sums is a huge assumption.
    Shroud mentioned that he made about 25k a month playing for C9, so they make a really nice living (until ~32, then it's back to streaming, coaching etc..)

      no because twitch earnings are not released to the public. A lot of people have guessed over the years. including Scarra. If you look at consistent viewerships and also who put the most time into twitch he's one of the biggest twitch streamers.
      And also pros don't make as much as you think in league. the top earners are top teams obviously. but there is a lot of underpaid pros out there, even with the better teams. luckily riot are trying to work better for teams but still what they have done hasn't done so much.

      Freddy apex of course no one would care about Console eSports, yes maybe the next big tournament is 500k but that's just exclusive to(but not limited to) NA players. All participants are either American/Canadian. And it's not even that big of a game, it's popular sure, but it's a smattering compared to PC players, even though console is much cheaper, no ones gonna spend $60 on a game to try and be good at it then earn so little compared to other games that you can get for free
