We are planning to take a small ev. This is in our list. Only confusion is whether to buy an ev or a hybrid. The main thing that is pulling us back from buying EV is the cost of the battery. Its obvious that, we have to change the battery after 4-5 years. That will be a substantial amount. Can you pls make a video on this aspect as well.?
As per Tata the battery got a charging life cycle of 3000 to 3500 cycles. This means the battery can be charge up to 3000 cycles without any degradation in its output. So 3000 cycles means 3000 into range of the vehicle so it is like 250 on an average you can consider 250 or 200. That means 3000 into 200 it is like 6 lakh kilometres. That means the battery will out run it's cars body life so no point in worrying about battery replacement.
I see this misconception with many people. I own a Nexon EV and I regularly get this question. The battery & motor for Tata EVs come with 8 years / 160000km warranty. If Tata is offering a warranty for 8 years, they expect the battery to operate without much degradation for atleast 10 to 12 years if not more for 99% of their cars. Additionally, when an EV battery degrades even 50% (which is unlikely), after maybe 10+ years of regular use, you will still have 100 to 150km range on your car. The battery in most probability will outlast the useable life of the rest of the car.

We are planning to take a small ev. This is in our list. Only confusion is whether to buy an ev or a hybrid. The main thing that is pulling us back from buying EV is the cost of the battery. Its obvious that, we have to change the battery after 4-5 years. That will be a substantial amount. Can you pls make a video on this aspect as well.?
It has 8 years warranty
As per Tata the battery got a charging life cycle of 3000 to 3500 cycles. This means the battery can be charge up to 3000 cycles without any degradation in its output. So 3000 cycles means 3000 into range of the vehicle so it is like 250 on an average you can consider 250 or 200. That means 3000 into 200 it is like 6 lakh kilometres. That means the battery will out run it's cars body life so no point in worrying about battery replacement.
I see this misconception with many people. I own a Nexon EV and I regularly get this question. The battery & motor for Tata EVs come with 8 years / 160000km warranty. If Tata is offering a warranty for 8 years, they expect the battery to operate without much degradation for atleast 10 to 12 years if not more for 99% of their cars. Additionally, when an EV battery degrades even 50% (which is unlikely), after maybe 10+ years of regular use, you will still have 100 to 150km range on your car. The battery in most probability will outlast the useable life of the rest of the car.
8 years / 160000km warranty is there, later on if it need to be replaced, don't have to replace the full pack, only damaged cells. So go ahead👌
No hill hold assist in this model which is very important especially if you are going to hill area and shopping mall basement parking.
