I see some people have already mentioned some of Corey's rhythm courses on Truefire, etc. Just want to throw in my two cents worth: GET THEM ALL!!! His lead courses are great, too, but I think there's no better rhythm guitar teacher out there (Robben Ford's are good, too, but they're more at a Master Class level, IMHO). It's hard to find rhythm courses, period, because there's just not much interest in it compared to lead playing. The content and presentation of Corey's rhythm videos are so fun and sound so good, it could almost make someone prefer being a rhythm guitarist over a lead player...almost. Let me stress again, his lead courses are great, too. I've got several, and they've helped me a ton. I wish this stuff had been around when I started playing back in the 1970's...Maybe I'd have become the monster player I've always dreamed of being. Rhythm Factory - Texas Blues, 30 Blues Rhythms You Must Know, and Blues Guitar Fakebook - Rhythm Edition.
Hi Corey I've been playing for years without really learning any scales, theory or having any teacher at all. You're lessons are by far the best and most informative and easy to follow i've seen on RUclips. They also make sense!!! Thanks form putting these on.
Wow Corey! I have no idea how you only have 32k subscribers. You are by far one of the best instructors on RUclips today. I look forward to these lessons every Saturday!
It's always a great pleasure getting to tackle anything Corey teaches on YT or TrueFire as he's always prepared with pertinent material and delivers his lessons with excitement and in such a friendly upbeat manner. I've known Mr. Congilio for over a decade now and he's probably tired of hearing my same praises by now but Corey's lessons have actually gotten even tighter and fun and I consistently keep feeling this same way when I come away (this lesson is a prime example) more confident and happy with my own playing! Jim C.
Way big thanks for that video. Great example of why we need teachers. I know those chords and licks, but not the way you showed it. Beautiful, melodic, and so many more possibilities to use what you showed in different ways. Corey you're a great player, and thanks so much for sharing.
I am new to the channel and just want to say how really awesome your lessons are. I have been playing on and off for years and this is exactly the stuff I need to explore some concepts I have missed through the years.
When I came across Corey Congilio, and his video presentations, I discovered a guy who truly knows how to teach. As I've said before.. Corey explains, demonstrates, explains again, and provides additional examples in a very relaxed manner. Spread the word - Let's get this man's subscriber numbers Up! Way UP!! Carry on, Corey!! Appreciate ya'!!!
Am7 I play with my thumb hooked over the 6th string, and bar the rest with my index finger. Super easy. Also nice to add the high C with my pinky on the 7th fret of the 1st / e string.
Thanks Corey for everything you teach in your lessons ! Your feelings , sound and playing are far better than many guitar legend ! I wish you the best ! Greetings from Croatia !
Great lesson Corey, it reminds of an older Mike Stern lesson I had from long ago, I forget who he said he got it from, some older jazz player. As long as the wheel keeps on turning, players will keep on learning. Thanks.
Fun! I did those transition chords with a uni-vibe sound which really gave it that keyboard flavour, which I have never quite noticed in the same way before, especially with the pull of to the D from the Emin7
Lots to like in this video. Doable chord changes, a nice groove, some rhythm and melody licks, nice variations like the sharp nine/flat nine walk down. And as you say, it's a "by yourself" piece. Well done!
Thanks, Corey! I'm getting so much out of your videos that I had to throw some $$ at you and signed up for your Dom 7 Arpeg Soloing course. I've been playing since I was 15 (1968) but spent all these years just learning tunes. I got into Leo Kottke early on so my pickin' skills are fairly advanced. I was his road manager for 3.5 years as well, so I learned so much! The trouble was, I didn't really know what I was doing musically most of the time, even though I had taken 3 semesters of music theory in my early 20's. For the last 5 years, I've been on a journey to transfer that classical theory knowledge to the guitar fretboard. RUclips has been such a great tool because there are a number of pros like yourself who share so much free stuff! I'm a fan forever!
Awesome lesson! These blues teachings are the best for me at this time, 🎸 I spent about 2 - 3 weeks everyday learning the entire rhythm section of S.R.V' s Marry Had A Little Lamb 🐑 & it was tricky. Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden was what I used to learn, but aside from Guns & Roses the Blues are infectious for me now, & once you, as Slash said connect your 1st lick best feeling, (he said something like that). Thank you! 🎶
I bought your 50 rhythm's you must know on Truefire i really picked up some good stuff from you man big thanks. This is also a really cool riff and i am modding it already. All the best to you and yours. Greets from Austria.
I did not understand why a minor chord can be called a minor chord without a minor third in it but the whole thing is great. I discovered this channel just a few days ago. Thank you though it's been 2 years that this has been put here.
Oh man, corey this is the one..love this lesson...im really all about rhythm but those lil fills just sweet.. im amazed how followable your lessons are.. first few min its panic ,mode but keep watching and the end result is so playable..and one understands the why..so mindblowing..great teaching approach..thank you so much...making back fusion recovery very cool..and making me do occasional deep dive out of my comfort zone on fret board..hell may even grow a soul patch lol.. Great stuff love all the grooves..learning so much Mahalo
Good lesson. For the Am7 chord, I like to use my thumb for the low E (in this case, the low A note) string. Then I use my index finger to bar the other notes.
I keep coming back to the lessons on this channel - and this is one of the best ones yet : ) Not too technically demanding to play, but so much good stuff in there that I didn't know before, and a great authentic sounding piece to learn and play... I have a bunch of Corey's Truefire courses as well and would definitely recommend them! Thank you Corey : )
Corey, thanks again!! Another great lesson, this time on a slow minor blues. I practice every day on your tremendously helpful tips and I've achieved so much more confidence as to playing solo... I'm 67 years old, I'm definitely not a beginner, since I started playing guitar when I was eleven and I explored many musical aspects from classical to bossa nova, so I have no problem even with difficult chords. But soloing has always been my weak point and with your lessons I'm gradually overcoming that!
Only just found you Corey but really glad I have. Awesome playing and brilliant lessons. I could spend hours immersed on your lessons (and probably will)!!
Thanks for another awesome lesson Corey! I love that minor 7th chord... my friends in college taught me that shape back in the day and it quickly became one of my favorite chords. We learned it for the beginning of the Black Sabbath song Behind the Wall of Sleep :-) It's not just for blues and jazz haha.
Another great instructional video from Corey, thanks. I'm following some, and thoroughly enjoy, Corey's videos through TrueFire and would thoroughly recommend them to others
Another great lesson Corey, Can't really add much to the other comments singing your praises except to also say thanks for your generosity in providing us with 'TABS and tracks'. Amid your diverse output this vid and the one 'Blues by yourself' are real gems - as good as anything on YT to help 'lift one's game'. Cheers
I've watched a handful of your videos now, had to subscribe oc, and just wanted to say the way you are teaching and "stacking things" in your videos , (couldn't find a better word) with lots of play along, actually showing what you do and explain why you do it while also taking time to show proper fingering and handing out those pdf's and jam tracks is really something. Very often any additional aid are hidden behind "pay 2 view" walls, and maybe the lesson wasn't really that good in it's own anyway. Full respect man, you are a great player, a teacher with skills when it comes to explaining and keeping things fun and exciting and your videos are ensuring viewers can absorb your lesson without guess work or wasting time trying to figure out finger settings etc. Keep teaching this way and I will keep learning. You put the fun back into learning and improving myself and I even get to brush up on "neck knowlegde" and mapping out the neck. Fantastic. And what an amazing thing you do by not charging for backing tracks and pdf's, that will really help anyone being able to participate.
Your channel should blow up! I suppose they are harder lessons, but not really that hard. If people/we/I just stick with these lessons, they're not as hard with a little practice and grind. Like stick through the vid. Rewind. Replay. Find your teaching. It is here. A bit confusing to grasp, sure. At first. But once you do there's magic. And you can do it!
This turnaround!!!!! omg!!! so sweet!!!! love it!!! (as your entire lesson!!! :) ) So cool to see/use these little triads in between the chords groove... More lessons like this PLEASE!!!!! (As always thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge!)
Corey love the lesson started learning jazz blues years ago, just now getting back to it, great lesson, packed full of great info, it is great the way you break it down easy to follow, so Coollll !!!
This is absolutely great Cory. Simple but tasty, it's something I'll use in my playing going forward. Love the way it jazzes up the progression. Thanks for all you put out here and Trufire.
I see some people have already mentioned some of Corey's rhythm courses on Truefire, etc. Just want to throw in my two cents worth: GET THEM ALL!!! Totally agree. No waste of money nor time there. Great courses. There's also "Intermediate Blues Guitar Lessons Rhythm" on Udemy.
thx so much!
You are correct.
Young players are so good these days. Thanks to tech!
Brilliant lesson, much appreciated!
He's handing us the keys to the kingdom in the simplest of ways. This channel needs more exposure!
The Epiphone Casino, magnificent! Great work on detailing the chord tones into double-stops and fills! Thank you again!
Drooling over that guitar it sounds great any idea what kind of p90s it has? Evertime is hear this guitar I want a casino
Hi Corey

Corey is special no doubt. I've never seen anyone disseminate all the intricacies of the fretboard in such a digestible manner. Very cool.
Excellent...very tasteful. Amazing tutorial...AGAIN! Appreciate you, Corey!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow Corey! I have no idea how you only have 32k subscribers. You are by far one of the best instructors on RUclips today. I look forward to these lessons every Saturday!
Appreciate that! Just gonna keep working! Thx for your support!
Stopped by today, 1 year later and it's up to 64K. A year from now 150K!
That's an excellent lesson that I'm really enjoying getting stuck in to. I'm going to explore your other stuff as well. Thumbs up from the UK
Awesome, thank you!

Another killer tutorial Corey. I'd been looking everywhere for someone to teach this sort of stuff. A big thank you!

Man I want to go to Croatia. Gorgeous coast. You dig it there?
Great lesson Corey, it reminds of an older Mike Stern lesson I had from long ago, I forget who he said he got it from, some older jazz player. As long as the wheel keeps on turning, players will keep on learning. Thanks.
Love some Mike Stern!
Great little groove - I really loved it and it helped me get some more finger dexterity and rhythm - thx!
Fantastic lesson Corey - thanks so much - awesome !
Glad you enjoyed!
Every lesson is a real gem.

The Am7 has the third (C) on the G string.
Excellent work

Thx Corey. Love your videos. 👍😊🎸
Thx Steve!
Good lesson. For the Am7 chord, I like to use my thumb for the low E (in this case, the low A note) string. Then I use my index finger to bar the other notes.
Me too 👍
Thanks Corey!!
Sure!
I live how you are incorporating chromatic lines within chords it just sounds so smooth
Mate, this is epic! And it sounds great with a wah-wah pedal giving it a great funky sound
Glad you enjoyed!
