    did you know i dont have money to buy this super bike

  • @SethPortland
    @SethPortland 8 лет назад +7

    Did you guys also know....
    1. The fuel indicator isn't a traditional gauge. The bike tells you how many miles you have remaining based on your fuel economy, similar to modern cars.
    2. When you put fuel in the bike, the hole on top of the tank is perfectly sized for the gas nozzle. It doesn't wiggle and will never slip out.
    3. With cruise control turned on, you can hold the switch up or down and the bike will accelerate or decelerate until you let go of the switch. You don't have to click up a million times to increase speed or touch the throttle.
    4. While the bike does have linked braking, if you use the rear brake by itself in slick mode, then ABS won't turn on and will allow power slides. If you use the front/linked brakes, then ABS will continue to operate.
    5. The bike has a CAN bus system. This is basically a system that runs the electronics on different circuits. It can detect when your light bulb is out and anything else related to electronics, and you'll get a warning.

  • @Moreflying1
    @Moreflying1  8 лет назад +4

    No doubt...I think I remember counting 10 warning stickers on my Suzuki. Every last one was a pain to get off. I won't even mention the Aprilia. That was on matte paint too.

    never seen one without the dynamic package before, do you not have the autoblip down shift? do ever get any delay/hesitation quick shifting 1st to 2nd?

    • @Moreflying1
      @Moreflying1  8 лет назад

      You can get the bike without the DDC. It's not as common from what I've seen. The forks are black on the one I saw at the dealer without it. I do have (gear shift assist pro) so it's auto up shift and on the down shift. In 1st and 2nd I haven't noticed the delay. I tend not to use it as much in town 1st to 2nd though.

    I hear that the BMW 1000rr gets really hot while riding. That you feel the heat through the chassis and it will sting you inner legs and you feel lots of heat on your boots. Is this true?

    • @Moreflying1
      @Moreflying1  8 лет назад +4

      You're going to feel heat from the engine. You'll feel it more as the ambient temperature rises. So it will heat up your inner legs on very hot days. Moving my legs away from the frame and letting the air flow does the trick if I feel warm. I don't feel sting or pain with a pair of riding pants or leathers on though. Haven't felt heat through my SIDI boots that I can recall. Not a deal breaker in my opinion unless shorts and flop flops are the riding attire : )

    Did you know that BMW reverse engineered the ZX10 as the design paradigm for the S1000RR?

    • @Moreflying1
      @Moreflying1  8 лет назад +2

      I thought it was the K5 K6 GSXR 1000. But don't have any facts to back that up..Where did you hear that?

    • @FancyAnimal
      @FancyAnimal 8 лет назад

      +Moreflying1 in 2007/8 BMW developed a test mule for their WSBK bike using Suoerstock zx10 motors et al. The WSBK bikes evolved into production machines based on the ZX10. There are many books detailing the S1000 development. Motorcyclist has a few articles referencing this. They were smart as Kawa continues to dominate WSBK. And no...I ride a Ducati and Honda.

      I really threw me off when I felt the rear break being applied without my own foot pressure. Weird feeling for sure. Don't know why they don't say anything about the tank. Usually it's the up-spec bikes that get the aluminum, in other brands.

      Go BMW

    • @Moreflying1
      @Moreflying1  8 лет назад

      In the time I've had the BMW, the only finicky thing I can think of is with the quick shift. The throttle on down shift needs to be full closed or it gets a bit rough. Also, keeping the throttle position steady produces the smoothest up shift. I don't like the way you have to remove the seat either. Longer runs...BMW is a better choice. It has more road amenities and for a sport bike very comfortable seating. You'll have a much stronger dealership network as well. I do believe you get a better warranty with BMW also. Aprilia requires finding a mechanic that is VERY knowledgeable about the V4. The valve trains need special attention especially if you track it. Go on the AF1 forums and read up. Aprilia still makes their tanks out of plastic that ends up blistering and warping too. Anyways...just a few things.

    • @stephenchristian5739
      @stephenchristian5739 8 лет назад

      ALL THINGS I CARE ABOUT thanks! had a custom seat done had my throttle adjustments, bought a larger tail bag, Honda made a great bike but those were things that had to be done. Yes for sure I've been doing a lot of reading had my Honda 12 years 77k on canyon miles, mountains, This will be my last sport bike so I want it to be that close friend I had with my Honda CBR, thanks again! I'm still in the weeds & stand off on all the mass gizmo stuff but hell I still shoot 35 mil film! Later

      i had a ride on 23 rr few days ago and it was blast, altho i want 16 just because of cosmetic look
      also tried m1000r 23 and its way more comfortable and as fun and made me doubt if i should go with sport again lol

    • @antownemercer7552
      @antownemercer7552 Год назад

      No the dealer did not allow test rides. When i sat on both the 18rr was more comfortable. The 23rr had way more gadgets and quality was on point. The 18rr was over 4k cheaper and that was what edged me closer to the 18rr. If money wasn't an issue i would definitely lean towards the 23rr. However i did not purchase either. I'm waiting for the winter months to see if i can get a better deal since bikes are out of season and the price tag drops a little.

    • @Moreflying1
      @Moreflying1  8 лет назад +4

      I think you missed the point. The tank on the BMW is not underneath the plastic. So, if the handlebars make contact with the plastic it's not going the damage the tank. It's less expensive to replace a $250 piece of plastic compared to a VERY expensive aluminum tank. Of course not every crash is going to protect the tank, but if the handle bars get shoved into the bike they won't screw the tank up.

      i sat on an 899 i believe, the seat is so damn hot when riding it compared to my street triple r! Thank god i dont have to sit on it for long rides!

      I've heard about the early Panigales under-seat exhaust being hot, but I think they improved the heat shield though. Never ridden one. I have ridden the 1198 and it was sweet.

      I own a 2013 1199 with 22,000 miles. The seat heat is greatly exaggerated. Not an issue. Has the updated heat shield and thicker comfort seat. The seat frame bolt heads by your knees however have left heat scars on my thighs.
