Different Undercut Man Bun Style Variations - Mens Long Hair

- If you’ve been growing your hair out for a while and haven’t completely made up your mind on what man bun style is going to be best for you then I think you’ll definitely get some good ideas from this video. Aside from the full man bun, the undercut man bun is still an extremely popular and cool looking style that has many variations to give you your own creative edge.

1. The Lowered Undercut Man Bun
The lowered undercut man bun consists of the man bun with a disconnected undercut that begins at the temples. This is one of my favourite man bun styles and if you’ve been following my hair growth journey, you’ll know this is a man bun style I’ve been contemplating for a while now… I just can’t decide on when he’s going to get it.
2. Disconnected Undercut with Man Bun (Rounded Back)
The rounded back disconnected undercut man bun is the most common undercut man bun style we usually see on guys. Still very popular in 2019 the undercut on this style is quite high and extends to the back of the crown with a rounded back.
3. Man Bun with Disconnected Undercut (Diamond Back)
The diamond back man bun with the disconnected undercut is very similar to the previous style we mentioned, the only difference with this undercut man bun style is the finish at the back. Instead of the cut being round it is shaped with a point. Hence the name “Diamond Back”.
4. Man Bun with Low Back Undercut
This man bun style is subtle yet interesting. The undercut on this man bun style falls at the back of the head 3 quarters of the way up the ear. This style is quite uncommon but is still quite edgy and worth consideration if an undercut man bun is the style you are going for.

Ooh, thank you. The Low Back Undercut Man Bun is exactly the style I was looking for! My kiddo has hair to his shoulders, but it's SO THICK it's very hard to get into a pony tail, let alone a boy-bun! I think the low undercut is just what he needs, his hair can just hand down when it's out, but it'll be much easier to tie up when he's playing sport.

I've been needing this, I've had an undercut since middle school but I recently (less than a year ago) decided to grow it out. I love tying my hair up but most examples of manbuns online are for people with long hair around the whole head as opposed to primarily the top

Ive searching undercuts and my favorite one is the super low low undercut lol. Mainly gets rid of the side and the back of the hair (lower part that doesn't grow for me)

with the disconnected cuts, I prefer putting the bun at the back - lower top and higher back part - and not exactly at top. I think it's much better.

I love your videos..... I have a disconnected man bun style myself. I am currently on a hair growth journey. I decided the undercut as my template. It was a slippery slope. But it's working. I found out I have curly hair. So when I wear it down you would never know I have a undercut! My goal is at least shoulder length maybe a bit more. We will see ... Hopefully you grow your hair long again.... I live in canada and have had shorter hair my entire life until now.. So it still keeps my head warmer!

This haircut was popular in the UK 2014-2017, I miss it tbh it’s an underrated haircut. Spontaneous and different and includes many different options.

Ive started cutting my own hair in the past year and ive decided to try and grow out a manbun. Unfortunately, im in a very ugly stage of "i have a section of pretty long hair on top" and "my sides were short but now they are shaggy" BUT ALSO "the sides come too far up into the top part of my hair so my face looks on the wider side of round"

Thinking about getting one of these styles. My only concern is how they look without the man bun or do you just have to always rock the man bun? I figured the first two would look some what normal with your hair down but not so much for the last 2.
I'm a woman, but I have an undercut that's pretty similar to the last one, and when I let my hair down, you really would not know. It looks like normal long hair. I can wear it loose or in a low ponytail to go stealth, or I can tie it up if I want to rock the undercut. That does depend on how thick your hair is, mind you, mine is very thick. If it was thinner you might see the short sides when it's down. Not necessarily a bad thing, though, especially for a guy.

do you think the disconnected undercut with a man bun would look good like not tied at all? Like it would it look like just like you have it rn but with less volume? Bc i have that haircut but I was planning grow it my hair on top to the shoulders and with shaved sides and back. But I was giving it a little bit of thought and maybe I want to grow the sides and back too to the shoulders as well, but I think that would include a lot of awkward stages, but if it’s worth it then I don’t mind. I'd add the cut that has only one side shawen. It looks pretty cool in my opinion. Though I'm not sure if that can even be referd as an undercut. Still, it looks sick
I had an undercut for many years and a few month ago i let growing the top of my hair. My Barber always startes the undercut above the round part of the head and now if I would shorten my sides and tie my bun it looks like an irokese 😫 but I started growing my sides

a tip for people who want to get this style:
the secret is to create the line between the shaved one and the rest. If you don't have the line, it's going to be kinda girly and weird. So don't just shave it or doing faded or something, just get a regular buzz cut on that part, and remember the line then you'll be fine.

Hey Thomas! So, my dad takes to work(construction) with him sometimes and when I come back, my hair is frizzy and clumped, hard to separate when showering. What should/can I do to ease this problem?

I know this is an old message, but it's an interesting problem. As a woman I would avoid this issue by wearing my hair braided when doing dirty jobs. Braids aren't just for looks, they also protect the hair from dirt and stop it drying out and getting tangled. They're a protective hairstyle that tackles the exact problem you're talking about.
But I guess a braid is a more difficult option for a man to go for, especially on a construction site. As an alternative, perhaps put it in a low bun (if possible under the hard hat) and put a net on it to stop it getting loose and limit how much dirt can get to it.
Then wash and condition it really well, teasing the conditioner through with your fingers, and making sure to give it lots of time to soak in before rinsing.
The reason it mats like this is likely a combination of sweat, friction and dust, so if you tie it up and keep it covered you will reduce the problem a lot.
Hey Thomas did you ever try John Master Organics for Dry Hair, is really GOOD it as no sulfates and lets your hair moisturise. I use it once a week (i wash my hair twice a week sometimes three so once a week i will use te John masters organics and then in my secunde weakly wash i will use a sulfate shampoo because i have very oily scalp so i need a very good cleansing of my scalp)
My question to you is . What if you have a round undercut man bun and want to let it grow more so you can do a diamond kind little lower but now you have to let it grow, How do you deal with the new growing hair since it’s un even.
