I’ve got 234k miles on me. This Gen has some issues, but is still overall a really solid car. And if you go the extra mile with maintenance and repairs, you can keep them riding like new, even at high mikes!
I’ve done: all 4 stuts (with friends, not a shop) and end links
Power steering rack and pinion + inner and outer tie rods
All of the fluids have been changed
Plugs, valve cover gasket…try to stick to OEM on this stuff
Runs great! It’s a treat to drive, even at 234k miles. Hopefully in a few years I’ll be saying the same about it at 334k!

I'm fixing a few things on my '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo "WJ" 4.7-V8 (4x4 but limited to 2WD because front drive shaft is missing)
    Suspension:
    4 shocks
Front and rear sway bar bushings/links, Upper and lower control arms in front & rear, front outer tie rod ends, front/rear coil springs & upper/lower for front/rear coil spring insulators. Possibly front and upper control arm ball joints.
    Steering:
Steering Stabilizer, Tie Rod Ends, Pitman arms, power steering gear/pump & filter, flush and bleed.
Swap out coolant for OEM hoat coolant and bleed it, swapping power steering fluid for OEM during flush.
    Electrical work:
For wiring in the doors so the windows, mirrors and locks work, installing new power outlets, diagnostic analysis of a parasitic drain of the 12V battery.
Possibly changing out the O2 sensor and harness.
I may have to fix the rear hatch window and rear hatch wiper, windshield wipers replaced.
This Jeep is a gas hog but runs great other than suspension issues and windows not working.
220k miles and engine and trans is still going good.
Oh I'm rewiring the electric fan thermostatic switch controller and adding a 40A 4pin relay, an inline 30A fuse and setting up a manual toggle switch as an override that allows temp sensor to start fan independently of the manual switch that's key on powered.

Duct tape is not necessarily the best option for all of the things it was used for hear, but some people are not smart enough to come up with better fixes, or just going to a junk yard and finding a better part as a replacement. It also helps to use products that protect the interior from sun damage, waxing every once in a while and similar. My 2000 Toyota Avalon looks and drives no older than 3 years, with only 2 minor and tiny dents, because I clean it out often, and take care of it! I have 160,000+ miles on it.

I had an 02 4-banger Camry that died in a freak accident in April. It was a stick shift model (pretty rare) and I spent months trying to find another 2002-2006 stick shift Camry to replace it. Finally found one, it turned out to be another 02. And I'm back to the same gas mileage as a year ago, 36-38 MPG, mostly rural highway driving.
Now the old one WAS one of those oil burners. This new one... not had it long enough to assess it. I'm still using the oil that came in it, and have found that it has used some, but not as quickly as on the other car. Time to change it out and see how it does fresh.

That Camry has headrests like they should be made. My 2017 Camry has those one that are at a stupid and dangerous angle, forcing the driver and front passenger to crane their heads forward, causing an unnatural bend in their necks.
I turned the driver's side headrest around and added a neck rest cushion in front of the headrest portion. I know it won't help much in an accident, but it had to be done. I also bought a universal fit headrest that has a DVD player built into it. It's illegal to use the DVD player in traffic, if it can be seen, but I don't want it for that purpose. I still need to install it, though. A friend has one in their car. It's really comfortable, because it's at the correct angle.
-The front of a headrest/head restraint should be exactly in line with the back of the car seat, to maintain correct postural alignment. (Postural assessment and ergonomics is part of my personal trainer certification.)

Scotty, I have a Lexus like your wife's and a couple of times going through the car wash I got a small leak over the driver's side of the windshield. I was going to get it replaced (no place will remove & replace the same one) but decided to check the sunroof drains. One of them especially seemed plugged up. Cleared it out and no leaks since. I think the leak was coming from inside the car above the windshield, not through it. BTW the heavier week wacker line is perfect for this job, small enough yet stiff enough to go through the drain channel and break through any blockage.

I've been saying it for years. Toyota's quality has dipped significantly starting in the 2000s and newer. I had three (oldest was a 2005 and newest was a 2016) and the last one (2016 Corolla) was the biggest, rolling pile of junk I ever owned. And it was as slow as a tortoise.
After I junked the Corolla, I ended up in a one owner, low mileage Kia Forte5 and it's been a great experience. Haven't been to the shop once for repairs, just for maintenance. It's a great car.
