The Cramps are awesome!!! Love Poison Ivy!!!🎸 Surf, Punk, Rockabilly, Swing, Lounge, New Wave, Alternative, Ska are all of the scenes I've been into. I think our generation just misses that social interaction that we don't really get in this current tech generation. I think we also crave that same escapism that the generation of the first wave of Tiki did. Especially now during these hard times. What do you guys think??? Plus we seem to be more nostalgic and appreciate art and culture from the past. Keep up the good work guys!!!🗿Gen X rocks!!!!🤟

Wow, just the other day, my buddy and I, who are secret goths and fans of tiki, were wondering if goth tiki was an aesthetic or blend that others enjoyed. Glad to know we are not alone!

Tiki and goth have lots in common: iconography, symbolism like the goth bands have symbols as their band names, music is a big part of both scenes, dressing up is a big part too, photography of the people throughout the scene, artwork and craft-abuse, tee shirts that show you're part of that particular scene.

The Goth crowd is definitely drawn to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. Check out Jeff Granitos brilliant tiki interpretations of the Haunted Mansions stretching room paintings. Among other Haunted Mansion mashups he's done recently.

There are so many other interests connected to Tiki, nice to hear about one that isn't an overtly obvious one. I love tiki and tacos, but not sure if there is a connection.. :)

It has been over a week, without another tiki goth club episode..... life is not worth living anymore. Seriously though my wife and I are both goth and into tiki we have no exposure to either at the moment and are so excited for this!

Hey Ray that would be awesome. Unfortunately we are way off the beaten path. I'm living in Tulsa Oklahoma and we are moving to Fayettevile Arkansas in fact she had already made the move in anticipation of buying a new house. We are having to give up having a local tiki bar for the move so we are definitely doing a goth tiki home bar. We so appreciate you doing episodes about goth tiki because it falls more in line with our aesthetic.
I watched the other Tiki Goth Club episode first and was going to mention The Cramps. It's hard to imagine being into Punk, Goth and Tiki and not loving The Cramps. Tiki aesthetics personify passion and decadence (or at least my preferred version of Tiki aesthetics). The Cramps provide the perfect soundtrack. I'd like to give Deadbolt an honorable mention for this topic.
I plan on doing an episode dedicated to The Cramps! They are a big influence on my tiki journey.
Tiki with Goth?? :) Note: my alter-ego is as an Goth/EBM/Industrial DJ (DJ Hans 242 on fb) who happens to have a full-on Tiki Bar in his home. (and in the previous two homes) & has visited 23 of the top Tiki Bar's in the US! So maybe its a thing after all. Cheers
