Beautiful, I had the pleasure of seeing Anthony in Houston. It was my son's first Opera experience, we loved it. I think this choreography is amazing ! "love has the answer for everything"
Beautiful. I watched Larissa Ponomarenko dance to a train this morning in a video. I assume you know Boston Ballet performed Glass Handel right before your release, I would have been happy to see some overlap other than my undying applause to each. Still can't wait to see Poppea in April. I love your voice.
Very fluid, he dances really well, rhythms, emotions, creativity, expression It's also original, musical choice and dance style The only one chosen which would miss more displacements in space - front back in particular. Sideways movement is very good and interesting, it just lacks a bit of the use of depth that would come from forward/backward movement in this urban environment.
Cultural appropriation at his best ? My real question is : Are they POC working on the video crew except the choregrapher and the dancer ? Of course I hear already comments saying that Mark Romanek gave to Ron Myles "Miles Yatch " the opportunity to express himself as the amazing dancer he is and the chance to perform in a beautiful David Byrne lyric's song... but does that make it REAL if this video of Philip Glass performed by Anthony Roth Costanzo is just exploiting culture and blackness without any other purpose ? I have to be honest this song and dance brought me unlimited joy too but can we go further because I was really surprised not to see at the end of the video a message saying: Part of the Proceed of this video will be donate to Compton Dance Theatre Foundation or any other foundation which will makes sense for the director, the artists and the record company UMG Recordings ....probably they did so but are really humble and do not want the public to know.
Maybe they just wanted to make something beautiful, and forget about color to focus on emotion. I can understand what you're getting at, but this song and video touched me in a way I think you've likely misinterpreted as something else. No idea where appropriation has come from, when without context, the piece and performance is clearly done as an artistic display. The only things I ever consider are the emotion, the passion, and the beauty of art, as is what often drives the artist to compose, perform, and create in the first place. To label this as any sort of appropriation, defamation, or jab politically or socially is to miss the point entirely, and is imo an insult to the freedom art gives people. that said have a wonderful day bruv
Reply to Xavier, Yeap I think you miss the point. I enjoyed it immensely, art at it’s highest (in my opinion), and that is the point, to show case talent, creativity, craft and pursue to create beauty. The music, specially, nailed it. That’s what I got from it, no conspiracy theory here (I may wrong?).
This is bloody brilliant
I could watch this every day of my life and never ever get bored. Mesmerising combination of sound and sight.
Me too!

I still don't understand how this has not got more views. It's insanely good.
Delicate and gritty at the same time. Absolutely beautiful. This is a daily dose of joy

who wrote the lyrics?
David Byrne wrote the lyrics. This is from a collaborative album called “Songs from liquid days”

Beautiful singing and dancing. I’m surprised Ron Myles (dancer) is not credited here. Great work, though.
So the dancer is named Ron Myles? Beautiful video, all around!
He's credited... in the credits.
