Cyrodiil doesn't really have a bad spot on it. One thing I hate about Skyrim is mostly just a snowy place. Where Cryodiil offers so much. It has snowy areas and swamps and a very green gentle lush landscape. It was one of my favorite games for a reason. You just get lost in that world.
I spent so much time exploring the hills of Cyrodiil and doing every single quest and dungeon repeatedly through the years. But this video makes the map feel soooo small. (That's not an insult to the creators by any means, just a retrospect.)
I like how this pretty much matches the game's art direction. Those distant tree shadows are *chef's kiss*. I'd love to see it with grass and better distance culling.
@PersonausdemAll trust me @blargwortwort knows what he said cuz it's true I've played Starfield It Sucks Bad Bethesda called it Elder Scrolls In Space That Absolute bullshit Period!#I love the fan who's greets you after you become Arena Champion in Oblivion but in Starfield He more of a pain then a mild inconvenience No one who's played starfield loves that character ever!#in my playthrough of Starfield I just got sick and tired of his ass following mine so I shot the creepy SOB on some back water world in Starfield!
Yeah, it's a bad thing Bethesda has their own engine that produced some of the most successful games in the history of mankind, instead of joining the UE5 crowd of low effort slop.
@snookiewozo what a silly stubborn old man kind of mentality. Mario 64 was one of the most successful games of it's time. Let's use that technology. No need to advance to more Sophisticated tech since the old stuff worked in the past.
I recall that the grass looked more real in the original, the grass in this is flat and has no texture, the grass in the original had heighth and waved as if wind was blowing through it. Other than that, it does look more defined.
It looks amazing. I wish that Bethesda would port it to UE5 and keep the rest of the game identical to the original. I'd buy it for the fourth time at full price
Imagine if you could do this with Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim, put all the maps together and have some massive Sword, Magic, Archery etc Battle Royale game edited into that map.
The "popping" has nothing to do with Nanite : World is composed of procedural mesh cells which hide or appear depending on the player distance to save performance. But I agree that a fading system would be nicer :)
@@gregcoulthard5565 with UE5 neighbouring cells can be seen and also you can setup it up so data can transmit between them. So yeah, not sure what your doing. Looks like you've told the engine to cull cells past a certain point. Haven't seen this problem in other massive world LOD demos.
They need to enable and build HLOD and some additional tuning. Probably the creator of this vid hasn't put in the time yet to do that; it's a step isn't required for a proof-of-concept demo.
Very interesting. Does your tool allow you to make edits and then import back into Creation engine? I'm just wondering what the purpose of the tool is and how modders will be able to make use of it. Obviously, they already have some process for importing and exporting assets, but maybe this makes the process easier?
Now make a version from the Pocket guide to the empire. Where Cyrodiil is a jungle and the Imperial city on top of 7 islands . :P I'm being sarcastic of course. This is great work.
What's with all the textures for the distant objects popping in like they do.. I'd have thought Unreal 5 would do a better more seamless job with that.
UE5 can do that. Among other things, they need to enable and build HLOD (Hierarchical Level of Detail) in the UE editor. I'm guessing the dev here just wasn't worried about that for an early demo.
Very impressive, I made this with Morrowind but my goal was to create levels and export them back to Morrowind format and be playable there so I needed every asset imported in engine. Also UE landscape was used. I guess it wasn't so nice and easy to use as yours work. Btw why put such a nice piece behind paywall? I think community would love something like this.
Hi and thanks :) I've put nearly two months of my life into creating this and I think the plugin to process ESM files deserves a tip (it works with Skyrim too and maybe with other ESM files which I don't own). It'll be sold with a simple landscape generator which you will be able use with your ESM file (not included). The full project as shown in the video with all the assets will obviously not be destributed. But a demo is available on my Discord (discord.gg/Udab2K5a5X) if you want to try it out. Cheers !
So....if this is 1:1 why not just get with the community and add in the rest of the game? Would much rather an UE5 Oblivion than a Skyrim based Oblivion, which looks phenomenal no doubt, and I will absolutely play it to death when it comes out, but objectively speaking UE5 is just a powerhouse of an engine that Bethesda's engine can't compare. Hope this is something that can be used as a foundation for a full Unreal Elder 5crolls: Oblivion.
Yes it's possible both Daggerfall unity and openMW are full games running on a newer engine. As a small example Skyrim is limited to texture blends and 8 different light sources same exact problems in Morrowind because of their old engine limitations. It's the major reason why modders are putting these games into different engines.
Hunh. It's a more polished and refined jankiness. Though the water and distant hills/mountains look quite nice. I guess there's just a limit to the end result when given what you have to work with.

A horizon colored fog to blend the lod details and draw distance would smooth things out, looks great of course
Indeed. This kind of extremely simple, unmasked distance culling was truly jarring.
Seeing the world with this much clarity really highlights how close together each city is

doing this fly over has reminded me how awesome Cyrodill was and how well constructed as a well thought out landscape it was.
I spent so much time exploring the hills of Cyrodiil and doing every single quest and dungeon repeatedly through the years. But this video makes the map feel soooo small. (That's not an insult to the creators by any means, just a retrospect.)

Not much of a bar to overcome lmao
Thats not very hard to achieve
This is beyond beautiful.
Nice nostalgic tour of Cyrodil, thank you.
wow looks wonderful! wish we had a remaster like this

Skyoblivion
Impressive use of original assets, I've done similar with Goldsrc engine and UE5 as experiments
Hate how the camera wobbles. Why does first person = drunken monkey? Does anyone really see like that when they walk? Why add it?
Bethesda: "Nice try, non-professionals, but we shall stick to making TES6 on our old engine for the next 10 years. Cheers!"
Yeah, it's a bad thing Bethesda has their own engine that produced some of the most successful games in the history of mankind, instead of joining the UE5 crowd of low effort slop.
They should have got rid of that engine after Morrowind 🤣 the creation engine is gamebyro base coding.

As long as it has Oblivion and Morrowind mechanics I'm down.
Skyrim took away so many good mechanics from the previous games.
Lose the Morrowind combat system.
@CorvoFG what? Why? You don't like hitting a mud crab 47 times before you land one hit?
The water renders well
Huge amount of popin happening. Nanite shouldn't do that.

Jeez, I haven’t played Oblivion in so long I don’t even recognize the areas. Is it worth the replay?
The leveling system is whack and the combat is floaty, but the quests are better than Skyrim, especially the faction quests and side quests
Enemies level up with you, which sucks. Everything else about the game is amazing though.
