Kara thank you for all that you do. I love that you are willing to try new things and share them with us. Please don’t be discouraged by the people who resent your courage to step out of the box and love something new. You do you!
I’m so happy you are using your bullet journal as a creative journal. I love the digital planning series and so happy you are going to keep using it. Digital planning is very versatile and anything done digitally can also be done with paper and pen. I love that you continue to experiment with new ideas and mediums and you think outside the box.
I’ve enjoyed watching your process for both paper and digital planning. People change, so naturally our planning needs will change and I appreciate you sharing your journey with all of us. Kudos for starting fresh with no rules!
Sad to hear you won't be planning in your bullet journal anymore. Your videos are some of the first that got me started so I have a soft spot for them. I do hope you enjoy your creativity journal.
Hi Kara! Although I'll miss your paper planning videos, I'm so excited for you that you've been able to combine both the digital and paper planning worlds. Looking forward to what you'll create in the future! Kudos for accepting that everything doesn't have to be perfect - it's all part of the process, and hey, life isn't perfect. And I can *totally* relate to the "saying goodbye" to a completed journal. Our journals are a part of our daily lives - through all of the ups, downs and neutrals.
I love your art. Moreso, I watched this video because of how real you are. I keep this little quote in the beginning of one of my notebooks that says my life isn’t perfect and neither is my planner. 😌 You’ve given me some great ideas with this. Thanks so much. 💜
Thank you, Kara! I love digital planning AND pen and paper too. And I love that you are human on these videos and that you experience the same kinds of thoughts we all do when life takes over and journaling/planning is not going precisely “to plan”. I love watching all you do whether in paper OR digital. Also, I don’t really understand why people care whether you do this in digital or paper. I watched when you were in paper and tried to recreate and be inspired by what you did on paper in my digital journal. I don’t understand why people are so locked on to the media vs the inspiration you give regardless! Thanks for all you do. I am so excited to see you here in Charlotte in the fall.
I’ll be sad to not see you planning in your journal anymore, but I’m glad you’re taking some time to embrace beautiful imperfections and do what works the best for you and your lifestyle. As always, your June page was gorgeous, and it I love your idea of using the brush pen to control the water. Definitely gives me some ideas for when/if I decide to take up watercolors in my journal. Sending love and positive energy your way!
Good for you Kara, to make a fresh start in a new notebook. This can be so refreshing. So can be the way that you are going to journal coming month. You know, this is axactly the way that I journal. Throw all the perfection overboard. Just take every day at a time, go with the flow like you said it. And this way it will not be any problem to skip a day or two, when you feel like it. Journalling is supposed to make things relaxed for yourself. You go girl! (And I love your June title page) Greetz, Ingrid
I actually love the buckling! Gives it an old-timey feel. I use ball point sometimes for the same reason, to give more texture and wrinkle to my journal.
Thanks partly to this video, I've realized that one of the things I need to learn is to know the difference between finishing something because it is something that will actually help me achieve a goal or bring me joy, vs finishing something just because I don't want to leave it unfinished.
I’m glad you’re enjoying digital planning, it’s nice to do new things! I personally am not interested, nor have the resources to do it in the first place, so I’m one of the group that has checked out over the past month. I’ll also most likely continue to do so with all digital related videos, but please continue to do what you love!!! ❤️ Edit: I’m so sad you’re not doing any planning in the new notebook, I understand, but I’m torn. You were my inspiration for my own bullet journal, but I know all good things must come to an end. As I won’t be watching any of your digital stuff, I’ll stick around for a bit for your creative things and see if it meshes with me. I’ll support you in everything you do, even if it’s in thought and in passing. Hope all of this brings you new love. ❤️
Totally with you on the part that you added after the edit! I'm really sad Kara suddenly opted for digital planning in the search for mor market abilties. I'm not folllowing her digital planning and I'm simply upset and dissappointed. However, maybe it's time for a change in mindset and time to follow other people who are more commited to this community.
I think she’s still extremely committed! She’s still planning and i notice the same Kara style in her digital! It’s just a different medium! I think there is still a lot of inspiration even if its digital lately. It’s something fun and different and I don’t see anything wrong with that! Creative minds always should challenge themselves!! This is just the latest in her adventure! She’s used various mediums this far: Leuchtturn1917, Filofax, Travelers Notebook. She always has come back to her roots! I am extremely thankful for her ideas throughout her entire journey. That’s the beauty of having a bullet journal over a planner. Freedom to be creative!!!
TheWellWornPages not that many people can adapt to digital, though, meaning they are now alienated from her content in a different way than the other mediums she’s used. All of those listed has been pen and paper, with electronics it’s harder to feel any real connection, like it’s cold. It’s inaccessible to many of us, and while some of us might enjoy that content there is also a number of us who don’t. Sure, she’s still committed, but not to pen and paper. I’m glad you enjoy it, and that she does too, but to each their own.
I completely agree with you deedee! It certainly isn’t for everyone! I was more just trying to point out that she isn’t less committed to this community now! I hope her creative journal brings lots of inspiration to us all!! Regardless of our preferred planning medium (temporary adventures or steady methods) I think we are all still a community!
I congratulate you in your new decision regarding your freestyle of journal notebook. I have been doing my journal this way from the beginning. I have different moments of trying other ideas but seem to go back to my free style manner of journal writing and time keeping. I really enjoy the freedom. Enjoy yours.
I love this! I have to add watercolor pencils to my shopping list! I have been playing in the Scribbles that Matter Bullet Planner and I love getting inspiration from you. Your lettering is so gorgeous.😘
Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas Kara. In one of your earlier videos you had a quote “follow your arrow wherever it may lead” something like that. This is your journey am just happy your willing to share with us as much as you do. Digital, paper it doesn’t matter this your journey and yours alone. Have a great Memorial weekend!
I totally get the new notebook thing, for me it's the same with fountain pens, I look at them for a day or so before I ink them up...weird right!?! Loved seeing the pages in your old notebook that weren't "planned" or "perfect" but lovely just the same. Hope your new notebook will bring you joy and happy days ahead!🤓🌻👒🖋📚
What a coincidence! I started a new notebook yesterday too and I used watercolor too, but I painted some flowers instead. And Kara, don't be afraid when testing out new things on camera!
I am definetely a pen and paper girl but I gotta say I loved following you through this month of digital planning. It has some great advantages and I was fascinated by the different techniques like two finger swipes etc. So thank you for taking us along. It is however great to see you playing with paper again. And I love the imperfections one would just redo or correct in digital format. Great that you are finding your happy spot, having the best of both worlds.
I just started this year with bullet journaling. I've looked for months or rather years for a system I'd like. On my blank pages that I didn't fill in, I've made list for projects or in my case a can eat and a list of yep can't eat lol. I was put on a Fodmap diet (though I really don't need a diet lol) to help figure out what is causing my GI issues. It is helping and I also put down things like what the guinea pigs can eat and other notes on them.
Love how this turned out! I went through a bit of a rough patch this past week so didn't get my June spreads done yet. I'm attributing it to birth control changes so I'm sure you can sympathize there! But now I'm going back and catching up on videos and am excited to sit down this weekend and get it all set up. I may have to take some inspiration from yours and bust out the new arrow washi (so excited for that!). I don't have watercolor pencils, I didn't even know there was such a thing, but I get a pretty good effect with tombows and a brush. Although I can't afford an iPad yet, I still will be following along with that planning in order to get inspo for pen and paper. I don't see why much of it can't be transferred!
i’ve got to say, i’m pretty sad, as i just don’t enjoy the digital planning, it seems to me this isn’t much of a bullet journal anymore. i understand you are happy with digital planning, and i’m glad you found something you really enjoying, i’m just disappointed as i know i won’t be watching much of your videos anymore. thank you for inspiring me to start my own bullet journal, maybe i’ll see you again if you eventually come back to pen and paper bullet journaling. good luck
same. The bujo is the analog tool for the digital age after all. Also, ipads or other pads are expensive, pen and paper aren't, so pen and paper bujos are great equalizers. You don't need anything fancy to do it, there's already so much consumerist hype in this community :(
So glad to see you do a fresh start in your new bullet journal! I'm a paper and pen person so, happy, happy, happy! And love being creative with pen and pencils. I used to have watercolor pencils, but seem to have lost them. I recently started looking for more and like that they are not as messy as the traditional paints.
Little bit disappointed in this video, as I was looking forward to different layouts and pages, you would have done in your last plan with me in the past, I'm always looking for new ideas and like what you come up with. Keep up your amazing work you do Xx
My next journal is the same colour as yours; it's an 'official' Bullet Journal! I'm waiting somewhat impatiently for its predecessor to be finished. I'm determined to fill it. It is wonderful to see you back to your pen and paper medium; I've missed you while you explored digital planning.
I do watercolor in my bullet journal as well. I place a laminated piece of paper behind the piece I am water coloring. When I am done, I place another piece of laminated paper on top of my work and then close the book. In a few hours you can open up your bullet journal and your page will be flat!
I'm so excited that you're doing a go-with-the-flow bullet journal! For awhile I stopped watching your videos because they were kind of stressful for me to watch you do - you put such high expectations on yourself! Like, I don't have a monthly habit tracker because I know I won't fill it in, and if I don't fill it in, it'll stress me out haha. So seeing you doing things like your mandala and even setting weight loss goals that you have to fill in along the way, I just need a do-it-if-I-want-to plan haha. I'm excited to see where this goes! Also your watercolors are pretty ^_^
Hmm, I've got a spare bujo 1971 here that I haven't opened yet because I wanted to fill my current one (I'm feeling the same as you were with the copper bujo) and now you've got me thinking I should open it and start a fresh as a real 'journal' of sorts rather than a planner for collections, being creative etc. ahhhhhh now I don't know... lol Great video again Kara, thanks for sharing.
I’m glad you are also using a paper notebook - I love to watch you plan on paper too! Can you tell me what size traveler’s notebook that a leuchtturm fits in? I know you had one in a traveler’s cover for awhile. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing abilities!
Are you still enjoying this notebook/ bullet journal? I hope you are having good pen & paper time! I tried the digital planning but love pen and paper... And creating something I can touch and flip through way too much. I always loved what you did on paper (and follow with interest what you do digitally) and really hope that is still a part of your life!
With the notebook I received in the box plus the one that I had gotten for my birthday I decided to start a new bujo. I'm using the new one that I got in the box for my new jewelry businesses and the other one to start fresh in the month of June
I'm glad you are back with pen and paper. I've tried digital planning and it just does not work for me. Flipping through your old BuJo gave me some ideas for my new BuJo when this one is finished. I found my first BuJo recently and I hadn't realized that I have been doing this since 2016!
I LOVE your videos. I personally prefer your analog planning videos, but I have not tuned out for your OMIDBJ. I have watched daily. Since you are planning digitally, how will this affect your August OMIMBJ? Will you go back to analog for that or will it be another month of digital planning? When I started Bullet Journaling, I watched your August 2017 OMIMBJ while I wrote in my BuJo.
Watercolor pencils: you can always put an other layer on top, if you are not satisfied and water it again. For better result, it is good to more shade and not draw lines. It is good to take the lines more then 1 direction. Always start the watering from the lighter color to the darker one, because the darker will cover the light, and you lost the lighter color. Now, you can put more blue on the right part, as smoot as you can, and water it again. I hope you will love this technique as I love!
I’m so sorry you feel bad about this. It is awesome...... most of us are envious. Saying it’s not good is hard for those of us that aren’t nearly creative. Be proud of it
Wow that's beautiful! The cover page looks like an Erin Condren design or something, so pretty and such good use of space! I love your eye for design :)
Sorry if you have answered this already, are you going to be going back to paper/pen plan with me? Do you still plan in Hobonichi for business? Congrats on all your success!!!
I love how this is going to become less of a "bullet journal" in the sense of planning, and more of a creative/art journal with collections thrown in. So flexible
She’s still doing a bullet journal its just in a different form! Her digital videos are holding true to the style we have always seen. It’s just not ink and paper lately. I still get so much inspiration from her digital videos! You can translate a lot of it into an analog format still!
TheWellWornPages yes I know. I’ve been watching the OMIMDP series and have a digital planner myself, so I know how it works. I was specifically talking about the evolution of the use of the analog system for Kara in particular.
I’m so excited to see more creative stuff!! I’m trying to get better at drawing but it still doesn’t turn out right! Maybe I can learn what I’m doing wrong!!
I am relatively new to journaling so planning to continue on the pen and paper route for the foreseeable future, but never say never. I'm happy that you are finding so much joy in digital planning though! Since I a new follower, I am not caught up on all of the videos I've missed and I'm curious where you find your accessories like your charm and the pen loop. Maybe you sell them? Or found them elsewhere? It's those special touches that take the experience to the next level. Thanks for sharing your talents with us - I know it is a commitment!
Thank you for the welcome back to pen, paper, and color we can see and feel! I hope you will sell your creative products on-line, I am hoping for things like your new stencil which was in your May box (and I missed.) And I agree, yea for your creativity journal. Have to be really careful with the amount of H2O and the type of paper on which you are applying watercolor. There are so many, I know you are fond of Leuchtturm, have you tried a Moleskine Art Plus?
May I ask where you learned to write so beautifully? And different ways to write. So nice. I would love to learn to write better. New to your channel and really loving your videos!
How did you color or draw in the habit tracker in March it was at time 26:48? I love the way that looks but for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.
Hi! I love your channel! You are absolutely amazing! I have a question.. Where do you bought the cover of your leuchtturm? I'm looking for something like that, but I can't find anything..
1) Do you suffer from depression? I notice your area of your journal where you went blank for a bit also kind of was when you were down on yourself for not finishing, and that sort of negativity was cyclical. I have felt that way and have depression, so was kind of wondering if you'd talked to anyone about these episodes or recovered from them on your own. I hope you don't suffer from it, and I know I'm being nosy, but if you do, please be easy with yourself. You're lovely! 2) I know exactly what you mean about both loving a new journal more than anything AND not wanting to do anything to it! 3) I on purpose didn't get a teal Leuchtturm as my first bullet journal because my favorite color is that shade of blue/green, and I didn't want to mess up such a pretty book! 😄 I'm getting towards the end of my first one now though, and I immediately ordered the "emerald". 4) I started bullet journaling because I love you and AmandaRachLee's styles so much. You might actually be my spirit animal. Lol
The Bohoberry Challenge is a journaling prompt list every month. There's a Facebook group for it and quite a bit of pretty journaling under the #bohoberrychallenge on Instagram.
Thanks, Elizabeth! They came from Shane Co. in St, Louis, MO. My husband knew that I liked vintage things, so he picked out the engagement ring :) www.shaneco.com/
It's not really a bullet journal now though? And that's fine, it seems like a really great functional space for you to be creative in, but its got almost nothing from the original 'bullet journal' system :( Edited to add: So this doesn't really feel like a plan with me - its beautiful and creating, but doesn't actually include any planning!
randomgirl313131 bullet journal is whatever you need it to be. You can change the original system completely and it can still be a bullet journal to you. That's why the bullet journal is so great
Kara thank you for all that you do. I love that you are willing to try new things and share them with us. Please don’t be discouraged by the people who resent your courage to step out of the box and love something new. You do you!

this is great, Kara!! I use my journal in a similar way so looking forward to seeing how this new start progresses for you.
Love this... I am inspired yet again by your creativity. Thank you :)
I'm so excited to follow on this new journey! HOORAY!
I’m glad you are also using a paper notebook - I love to watch you plan on paper too!
Can you tell me what size traveler’s notebook that a leuchtturm fits in? I know you had one in a traveler’s cover for awhile. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing abilities!
Beautiful June page! Good luck on your new journey! 💕
I enjoy watching whether it's digital or analog :)
I've so missed pen and Paper and love first page of June 👌👍
With the notebook I received in the box plus the one that I had gotten for my birthday I decided to start a new bujo. I'm using the new one that I got in the box for my new jewelry businesses and the other one to start fresh in the month of June
I'm glad you are back with pen and paper. I've tried digital planning and it just does not work for me. Flipping through your old BuJo gave me some ideas for my new BuJo when this one is finished. I found my first BuJo recently and I hadn't realized that I have been doing this since 2016!
I find your videos soothing and inspirational. Thank you for posting :)
This was amazing its opened my eyes up to a new way of bujo planning. Can you continue on with this
You do what's best for you! Yeah pen and paper, stationery lover!
Your June page looks great!
This was a great video! I actually got out my own supplies part way through and started doodling in my journal, which is something I rarely do :)
Kara, you haven't mentioned much about your Mid Year Review. Can you please share more when you have a chance? Thank you!!
I’m so sorry you feel bad about this. It is awesome...... most of us are envious. Saying it’s not good is hard for those of us that aren’t nearly creative. Be proud of it
???
I salute your fresh start!
Yay! Pen & paper! :)
Wow that's beautiful! The cover page looks like an Erin Condren design or something, so pretty and such good use of space! I love your eye for design :)
The design gives me stained glass vibes and I love it!
Sorry if you have answered this already, are you going to be going back to paper/pen plan with me? Do you still plan in Hobonichi for business? Congrats on all your success!!!
Loved it! You have the best writing! Just subscribed & signed for your emails, just bought the supplies you suggested
Any ideas on how to divide your bujo when you've taken a long break but don't want to start a new notebook?
Thank you for bringing back a bullet journal. I do not have an ipad 😊
Amazing work! ❤️
I'm excited to see where you go with this month in your new Bujo!
May I ask where you learned to write so beautifully? And different ways to write. So nice. I would love to learn to write better. New to your channel and really loving your videos!
How did you color or draw in the habit tracker in March it was at time 26:48? I love the way that looks but for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.
Love love love this!!
Where did you get that folder for your old bojo from? It’s really cute xx
I finally started a bujo!!!!
Anyone else wondering about this new Travelers notebook cover she’s sporting ?!? 😍😍
DoodleDivas yaaaasssss! I haven't even ordered my first chic sparrow yet, and now I'm drooling over this one!
Hi, Kara. I´ll be in NCY in july. Tell me, please where do i find a Leuchtturn? Thank you ;)
Love this!! Have fun Kara :3
Hi! I love your channel! You are absolutely amazing!
I have a question.. Where do you bought the cover of your leuchtturm?
I'm looking for something like that, but I can't find anything..
hachi fromars chic sparrow makes awesome ones. Expensive, but gorgeous.
I started a new notebook for june too!
Is that a new journal cover? It's absolutely beautiful! Where did you get it?
Yes. Please! I kept waiting for some mention...It doesn’t look like a Sparrow Chic 😊
It's from Television Trainwreck :) Link is in the description :)
want want want your arrow washi tape!
Lol
Where do you digital plan? Which platform/ app?
Oh, and what is that 'bohoberry-challenge' you had? Seemed interesting!
The Bohoberry Challenge is a journaling prompt list every month. There's a Facebook group for it and quite a bit of pretty journaling under the #bohoberrychallenge on Instagram.
Saya Dix Thanks😊
You're welcome!
Ipad. Goodnotes I believe. 5$ app store.
Kara I love your engagement ring/wedding band! Do you have any information about them? Brand, style, etc. Thanks!
Thanks, Elizabeth! They came from Shane Co. in St, Louis, MO. My husband knew that I liked vintage things, so he picked out the engagement ring :) www.shaneco.com/
Have you tried Scribbles that Matter paper yet?
emerald... it's baaack!😉
It's not really a bullet journal now though? And that's fine, it seems like a really great functional space for you to be creative in, but its got almost nothing from the original 'bullet journal' system :(
Edited to add: So this doesn't really feel like a plan with me - its beautiful and creating, but doesn't actually include any planning!
randomgirl313131 bullet journal is whatever you need it to be. You can change the original system completely and it can still be a bullet journal to you. That's why the bullet journal is so great
Sarah Golianova yes but this still isn’t a bullet journal. It’s just a sketch-book.
Haha found the link lol xx
😍😍😍😍
Love your videos!!! Do you make the washi tape? I can't find it in your Etsy shop!! Of course, I found a ton of other things to buy!! :)
It came in the June Boho Berry Box but we will have it as a limited edition in the shop in June :)
Thank you!!!!
Do you actually get anything real done if you spend such a huge amount of time on just the title?
