- The PSS-A50 is a very hard keyboard to get if you don't live in Europe or Asia. I had to get this one sent to me from Spain (THANK YOU SANDPUPPY - More shout-outs to come in my next video about the PSS-A50). First impressions are very interesting, and by the time the next video comes I should have more of a handle on exactly what role this strange keyboard is trying to perform!
Nice vid i always enjoy your videos. I have this keyboard and was literally obsessed with it for two months but my other musical interests and life had me slip it under the couch (shhhh don’t tell the hubby lol) but you have made me want to explore again!
Hi Maria, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel :)
Damn!! I thought I had the only one in Aust. A muso friend in Alaska sent me one just after they released it in the U.S just before Xmas. Yamaha Aust told me they weren't releasing it here. An awesome little hybrid midi/keyboard. Love that it runs on a phone charger brick.
Ah, I wonder if there's anyone ELSE out there with a PSS-A50? Yep I like it and I'm going to do a follow-up video very soon with more info and the full story of how I got it into the country :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts Mine just arrived in the post. My mate Russ Copelin (currently here touring) bought it and posted out to me from Anchorage Alaska. No dramas. I saw the Jeremy See vid on it and just HAD to have one.
Cool - I just finished filming the second video today so after a bit of editing it'll be up on RUclips. About 4-5 days I think :) #gearfacts
It's an interesting little device. I wouldn't mind something I can bring with me anywhere, although a mini 25-key controller and a iPad with Cubasis isn't too bad. But having it in one unit would be great. But this has some annoying little bugs, like patches with insanely different volume. Seems like Yamaha wouldn't let that get out, but they did. Plus they should make it so you can at least save tracks to a thumb drive. Both wouldn't take much to fix, just firmware.
Yep. In my second video about this one I discuss how it has such far-reaching abilities in some areas and seems painfully limited in others :) #gearfacts
That is awesome has some great sounds 💯🎹
Yeah I'm excited... I'll be making another video with more details soon :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts awesome I'll be looking forward to see it 💯🎹
This channel cracks me up. Winner.
haha cool PN, nice to see you back :) #gearfacts
Also you can latch the drums after you have recorded a different part and then riff over that with another sound!!
Good info - Thanks Maria :) #gearfacts
Jeremy See complained it had a buzz coming from the headphones when you plug it into an amplifier did you get this issue.
Nope, i found it to be perfectly quiet. /gf
There’s quite a lot of hiss sometimes on the audio in this video. The one I had had this too especially with low impedance headphones.
Yep. I've just competed another video about it and I had to edit out quite a lot of background noise :) #gearfacts
I have one. It's actually not a bad little keyboard. A lot of features.
Yes indeed. Follow-up video coming soon :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts it's tricky to create a solid loop without that pause. Have you found a knack at it? The arppeggios and drum loops are quite interesting. The effects are decent, it reminds me of a few work stations i've played with. Yamaha took a bit from a few keyboards and made this. It's actually a pretty good tool to add to your instrument collection. It's too bad it's unappreciated and under rated by alot of users.
You raise a lot of points there that actually make up the topic of my next PSS-A50 video. Finished filming today so it should be up in a few days
Not bad keyboard.I prefer the Yamaha PSR E and SX SERIES!
haha well yeah i don't think this one can really compete with those biggies :) #gearfacts
Oh yeah, finally you have demoed this!
And more PSS-A50 to come...
@@gearfacts can't wait for your more thorough thoughts on it, I was among the earliest to request this board🙂
Filming completed today, just have to edit it all together and publish!
Can connect the Phone/output at the back to a mini combo player or speaker (instead of headphone) ? Thanks
Yep
This demo is using a speaker system or amplifier of some kind. Most of the voices are fairly terrible. It has a good piano 01, electric guitar and about 10 others are ok. Most are weak and a weird selection. Should have included a decent harpsichord or clavichord, maybe a banjo, sitar )since it was made in India) For $100 USD it’s probably a good keyboard starter. Would be far better with another octave since the octave mover can’t add more treble and bass at the same time to work for even minimal 17c keyboard pieces.
It was direct recorded, but yes it does have a speaker.
Que tecladinho legal !!
:) #gearfacts
Are the piano sounds authentic
Just as good as the full-sized PSR models such as the PSR-E463 :) #gearfacts
Gearfacts Or just as bad... 🤨 the grand piano patch is not the strongest point of the E series IMHO
True - let's settle on 'mediocre! :)gf
Do you have to connect it to a computer in order to play please cause I want to buy one
No you do not need a computer :) #gearfacts
Diana Gomez just put batteries in and away you go.
You do need to connect to better speakers or EarPods. The volume is quite poor on at least half the voices. The organ is set on blast. The device has room for 2 speakers and should have included some better voices.
Good demo, but those dirty fingernails....
My day job is coal miner
@@gearfacts ...I'll send you a nail brush to help you out.
@@kelvinsmith6854 Thanks man, it's a jungle out there
