I’ve never seen the original version of this video. This is actually my first time viewing your content. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Just my opinion but I prefer to know and see people being genuine. If you cussed a bit I won’t care as long as you’re being you’re genuine self. Never apologize for being real.
I think that its good to see videos that show people as they are and not robots with everything perfect. thank you for all your videos and keep painting.
When I went back to study graphic design after years of being an autodidact, one of our life class tutors made us sketch the life model within 1 minute. Most of us were unused to this and some were intimidated. But then the tutor reduced this to 30 secs and then 10 secs for each pose. It turned out to be one of the most useful things I learnt because you can sketch someone walking past in just a few seconds, which is usually how much time you'll see them for. I'd recommend training yourself to do this! : )
I appreciate this video so much as I'm learning about urban sketching and terrified of attempting scenes with people in them. Thank you. I didn't see the original one that apparently gave offense to some folks, but I also appreciate your willingness to apologize, acknowledge your own humanness and theirs, and to move on. It seems rare these days, at least where I live. This is how peace comes to the world- with gentleness and humility . . . and good background music. ;-)
I do quick (hour or so) watercolor sketches. I sped up a bit without getting that much accuracy--but it does work nicely for such a thing. You do a nice job of teaching this. I think it's nice to see someone who is learning and isn't afraid to show their results.
Oh sweetie - never apologise... Thank you for uploading such great tutorials. We all have those odd moments... Really helpful to me, after a 30 year break from picking up a brush...
meridlin 123 my sentiments exactly what made your comment stand out to me personally was I have just started drawing and painting after...get this....30 year lay off .
I'd also like to see the images...not that they end up like those but it's just a good reference and laugh for me as I attempt to do same....lol😷👋🎨✍👩🎨
@@PatrickLeyGreaves Yes, all is well here in sunny Southern California! And I am indeed enjoying my watercolor painting. After a bit of a hiatus I started up again and found it's almost -- but not quite -- like riding a bike. But after a month or so, the memory is back and it's so much fun. Thanks for all your excellent demos and tips!
st@@PatrickLeyGreaves Yes, I did find it very useful. Thanks for the well wishes. I am happily waterpainting again after a one-year hiatus (like you!). You're my go-to person for great video
@@PatrickLeyGreaves Yes, I did find your video useful, as always. I'm just returning to watercolor after a one-year hiatus. I'm glad to see more tutorials out again. You're my favorite watercolor artist in the UK! You have taught me a lot about watercolor and I'm really happy to own one of your original paintings. It's beautiful.
To be honest when I first saw this I was a bit dubious but as it went along it made sense and materialised, will definitely make my sketching quicker.thank you so much for sharing,I’ve subscribed and am now about to look through more of your work.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for this, very useful. I have to say I found the music very distracting, though! I much prefer just to hear you talking us through it without having to compete with a guitar.
Hey it would have been nice if you would have put the reference in a window in a corner so we could have seen what you were try to sketch. As it is we just watched you sketch some things and didn’t see the relationship to the technique. It was a good attempt to explain the technique though.
Thank you, this was very interesting to draw along with you. People are the one thing I can’t do. But you have helped me understand to just do the outline first, then the rest will follow on. 👏❤
Love this tutorial. I'm trying out Paris street scenes in pen and ink, and always ruin them with people that, well, don't look like people. This is enormously helpful, thanks.
I just found your videos today. Subscribed. I really think you are kind of brave teaching something you haven't really mastered but it's a great way to learn for you, and not bad for us too. Think I MIGHT have been swearing too. :)
Awesome.....I've been practicing thank you my sketches of people look much better with ed cooper and your help my people arent looking like blobby icecream cones....lol 😷👋🎨✍
Language smanguage. Pooey on those that policed your speech. I wonder if they actually paint or just watch others because I know very few artists that don't get frustrated and throw a fit. It's real life. Thank for sharing your knowledge!
We, the viewers cannot see what you are following. From our POV, you are drawing these from nothing but your imagination which would have to be extraordinary based on the details you are putting in just the outline.
This would have been more useful if you had shown the picture you were using as a reference so we could see how your process. Just watching you blindly sketch is not as helpful.

I couldn’t agree more Antonio. It’s hard to paint an be anything other than yourself. I appreciate your comment.

Beautiful technique. Thanks for sharing!
I really love your technique. It would have been good if we could see the references. But still a good tutorial, very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for a very interesting video. I would have liked to be able to see the figure you were using for each demo. 🙋♀️
Thanks Kay the next one I’ll include the ref image
I'd also like to see the images...not that they end up like those but it's just a good reference and laugh for me as I attempt to do same....lol😷👋🎨✍👩🎨
No worries - if we're being honest we've all had those moments! Tks for re-loading!😊
Absolutely love this video, can see applying this technique with other subjects
Absolutely, just follow the overall shape and simplify.
It would be even more wonderful if we could see your reference photo as you paint. Thanks!
Great video! So helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea, outlining the figure first, which is not too hard to do. Then blocking in the details is almost a no-brainer. Thanks, Patrick!
Thanks Janet pleased you found it useful. I hope all is well with you and your enjoying your painting 😀

Interesting technique Patrick. I must have a go at this. Glad to see you painting again.
Thanks Pete. It works for me but does need practice to do at speed. I hope all is well with you.
Very good technique, you get very dynamic figures.
Love it
Tnx very much

Enjoyed that.. I am going to try that. Thank you
Exactly what i was looking for, thank you.
I love this. Thank you!

I find that really helpful and soothing x
Not a problem! Most of us get frustrated from time to time! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Elizabeth. It’s just my impatience showing.🙄

Glad you reposted the video, after trying this a few times, I think it is a great help and fun. Take care and thanks again....
Your welcome Essie. Hope the technique helps a bit.
Excellent - just a shame I missed the original video. :)
I use this technique to draw characters.
Would really help me personally if I could see the reference you’re looking at while you draw
Thanks for great content it's hard to make good figures and you show it so well!!
Thanks Patrick really good video I will give this a go. Would have liked to see what you were basing your drawings on.

Thanks for honestly correcting an error. Don't worry about it. We're human. Mistakes are what we do.
Ha ha maybe you should have both censored and uncensored versions of your videos Patrick!
Lol that would have been a good idea!!
Que bien dibujas 😍👌🏼👏

I vote for free swearing for all people who create. 🙌🏼
Everyone has become so sensitive. Oof. Swear on!
🐢
If people are upset they should move on.
Upset? Come on. You deserve to be confident in your work. Re upload is what it is. Nobody is paying for this.
Thank you
