Great Business spotlight. Such a great store with so much history. I live in town and pass by frequently. It is an amazing store.

Members of my husband’s family have been “regulars” of the Model Railroad Shop for as long as I can remember. They had the layouts which were pretty elaborate. Model railroading influenced their careers as adults - one was in RR safety, another restored actual old steam trains, one is with Dept of Transportion and one attained an engineer’s certification and does trouble shooting for a current railroad line.

The Model Railroad Shop is a local treasure. My family has been going there for close to 40 years. I’m always happy when I drive by and see it bustling with customers.

As a kid growing up in Piscataway I loved going into this shop 50 years ago. I have been lucky to swing by on my returns to visit family in the Garden State. So many people would love to get involved in model trains but state they don't have the room. Look into N or Z scale, do a shelf or trolley layout, or do a diorama. I am working on a trolley layout which will be 12" by 18".

I’ve grew up with that place. Me and my dad have been going there for the past 25 years before me and my family moved out of New Jersey

I have been going to the Model Railroad Shop for 25 years, originally with my son. I’m an O Gauge guy, so I usually end up in the room off to the left. The extensive and diverse inventory in that room is amazing. If Woodland scenics sells it, they have it and more. They always have a great selection of track, engines, rolling stock and some older vintage pieces. The most valuable part of my visit is getting access to Warren. He does not sell you things, he helps you realize the vision for your layout. Once I gather my items, always more then what I planned on purchasing (my fault), I then head to the register where Doreen always has time to exchange pleasantries and get me on my way. I work too hard in my day job, like most people these days, and these guys provide an amazing environment to escape to a hobby that makes it all worth while. #themodelrailroadshop

They hardly carry any O scale , not worth the trip if that's the gauge your running ... " Trains and things in ewing " whole shop is O gauge . They have sales and acknowledge " National toy train day " and have promotions at the holidays.... LIKE A REAL SHOP SHOULD ... the shop in the videos does as little as possible and squeaks by ....
You know if you have sales or promotions you might have to walk to the register a few times ... .THEY GIVE NOTHING EXTRA DUE TO THE MANAGER

@@roncavanaugh8463 Well certainly. Days, hours of operation, that only makes sense.
I'm not aware of them going out of business anytime soon but that's worth checking as well. You never know.
All of the above could apply to any hobby shop.

@@roncavanaugh8463 OK, I see what you mean. As a shop owner MAYBE you could get away with that on a weekday when traffic may be slow but it wouldn't be smart on a weekend, that's basic retail common sense.
      Thanks for the heads-up anyway.

Warren has zero common sense and is all about himself and his self preservation at that shop ... a plan was in play to get rid of him but Jack got sick and never went thru with it
